    I adore pocket pens!! I have fairly small hands, plus I think that pocket pens are ADORABLE!!! :D I first obtained the lovely Kaweco Sport in olive green, and with my Christmas money bought my beloved brass Lilliput. (I even named a DnD character, a tiny gnome lore bard, Lilliput, Lilli for short, after my favorite fountain pen!) I am lusting after the Pilot E95s in burgundy, and I definitely want an AL Sport in rose gold or ruby. Thanks for this wonderful video, Drew!! I want ALL of these pocket pens!!!

    I love having a quality slim fountain pen as the todo list cross-off pen. Feels so rewarding uncapping and posting before crossing off the task with a dramatic (in my mind) flick.

    What a fun topic. generally speaking, this category is too small for my liking. However, I acquired a vintage Easterbrook J last month and replaced the sac just yesterday! Its small but a lovely writer. I also have a Kaweco sport which I have equipped with a mini converter and 2.3 stub nib. Small but mighty. 😉

    Waiting for pen companies to start competing for the smallest functional fountain pens again. I have one from the 1920s that's gold nibbed and 38.5 mm uncapped. The same length as an international standard ink cartridge. And the same diameter. (Obviously an eyedropper filler.)

    While I’m a huge Pilot fan, the Kaweco Sport brass has been my choice for pocket pen for 2+ years now. I put the gold plated broad nib in it and use Diamine cartridges. It has a nice patina now too.

    How about making a video about the longest in production Fountain Pens. We have:
    Mont Blanc 149 Meisterstuck (since 1924)
    Parker 51 (since 1941)
    Pelikan Pelikano (since 1960)
    Pilot Capless (since 1964)
    Lamy 2000 (since 1966)
    Aurora Hastil (since 1970)
    SIX fountain pens being in production for so long means absolute quality and satisfaction.

    I recently got my TWSBI mini-vac and I love it!! I was pleasantly surprised by the screw capping. The vac fill was so much fun. I almost poured the ink back to keep playing, but I didn’t. Next time I won’t fill as much so I can fill more often! 🤪 Works great with the Pineider pen filler so I don’t have to worry about running out of ink when not home! I gifted a KWECO iridescent sport to a friend and she loves it! Thank you for the high quality selections and superb customer service!

    Man, I love that Schon Pocket 6 -- easily the best on THIS list. A few other worthy pocket pens (in my opinion) are the ensso XS, the ensso pocket (in ultem or titanium) and the Opus 88 Pocket pen. The Opus 88 has a LARGE ink capacity and a shut off valve .

But the Prera is my daily writer and my choice for long writing sessions. The nib is wonderfully smooth and it never hiccups or makes a mess. Some of those others are cuties too. TY.

    Neat video topic. I’ve grown to be quite fond of pocket pens. But I know what I really like and only bought a select few.
    I have the Kaweco Steel, AL Raw and AC Sport pens, a Sailor PG Mini, the Schon DSGN Pocket 6, the Copper and Green Lilliput, both the black and burgundy E95s pens.
    I sold my Twsbi Diamond Mini last year. Not remotely interested in crappy Monteverde. I have a Supra Steel which I use full sized with the converter inside.
    What I really want is the Traveler’s Brass pen. Looks excellent. Time to maybe make a Goulet pen purchase for the first time in years.

    The hero 007 (no James Bond relation) fountain pen is short but also extremely thin due to its squeeze fill converter (like a Pilot metro). I'm talking disposable ballpoint thin. It's cap isn't the most reliable at $2 a pen, but it's great for short pockets.

    Pocket pens are perfect for those weird bicep ockets some scrubs have, really convenient carry position. It’s got to be short enough to not rub into you when you reach across the body with your left arm. Current favourite is the Franklin Christoph 20P(got mine in EF, classic black) smaller than an Pilot e95S capped yet more capacity than the Pilot 823 the e95s is another goodie that’s pocket size but alas it’s not scrub sized. So it goes in the case on all but a day off.

    So you mentioned the MVP is eyedropper convertible, but it looks like it has metal threads on the grip section. I seem to recall that pens with metal pieces in the barrel shouldn't be eyedropper filled or the ink might corrode the metal bits. Could you shed some light on that (maybe in a future pencast, if it allows Brian to take a deep dive on ink vs metal interactions)?

    This is awesome because I've been shopping for one!
    QUESTION: Does anyone have any input as to the ease of uncapping, posting, unposting, and re-capping? I ask because I was thinking that a retractable pocket-sized pen would be perfect for pairing with a calling card case/wallet; but I don't believe one exists.
    Let me explain. Traditionally, calling cards--which are akin to business cards, but used socially--only have the person's name and no contact information. This is so that for the specific person with whom one wants to connect, the amount of contact details can be decided in that moment. In other words, one can choose how much personal information to disclose to a new acquaintance.
    So, imagine handing your card to someone you met while waiting in line or at a party, You just want to jot a phone number or social media handle and then tuck away the pen quickly. So which pen would be best for this single-purpose use?

    • @shirley9240
      @shirley9240 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have the Pilot Decimo Vanishing Point and it is my favorite pen. I frequently put down my pen and it is perfect for that. I could put it in my purse, but a pocket version would be so amazing! But i think it would be hard because of the mechanisms to retract the nib. But the pen geniuses could probably figure out a way. I love my TWSBI mini-vac as my portable pen because it is smaller and because of the screw-on capping on both ends - I never have to worry about losing the cap.

    • @JanisOnTheFarmette
      @JanisOnTheFarmette ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The Travelers Brass has a slip cap, making it much faster to deploy than a pen that requires you to unscrew the cap and screw it onto the end to post it (which is how most of these pens post). The Pilot e95S and Pilot Prera are also slip caps, but the Travelers is rugged enough that I never worry about it in my pants pocket.

I have had so much trouble with the insert/refill made by Fisher (pressurized refill leaks), that I replaced it with modified Zebra Gel refills. I have the green Keweco Lilliput but am really hesitant about putting it in my pants pocket. Will it leak? Will it write after several weeks of non-use? Its shape is perfect. Okay, so. I am an owner of the blue Liliput for a few years now and trying my best, not to repurchase another.
    I am a woman, with very small hands and joint problems with super high aesthetic-needs when it comes to my stationery :'D Yes, I wish I was different. :D
    Nevertheless, I'm writing to tell you how impossible it is to find a pen, that is THIN like the Liliput and metal, not plastic AND is NOT pocket sized as my hand/grip eventually ends up in a lot of aching due to my condition.
    So I wonder, if you could curate a list that is about normal-length pens, but thin bodied, let it be made of metal or plastic. It is not enough for the grip-part to be thin, the whole pen needs to be, otherwise it is just simply not as comfortable to write with, for a long period of time.
