My JVC 7 disc player is 33 years old, and still sounds good as new 😎

I love CDs and I ADORE my Apollo. Super smooth sound, my CDs sound maybe 80% as good as my analog rig and CDs are a third of the price. Wish Rega would bring this CDP back.

Thanks for this video, it was very useful to me, I do like the hands on approach that this player gives.
I am seriously considering this player along with a Brio and Spendor A1 speakers.

Very helpful video. Just got mine today (in the US) and the tip for opening the remote is bang on, thanks.

Great player love the manual loading mechanism pleasure to use, I picked one of these up a few months back along with the Brio amp, sounds fantastic through my q acoustics 3050i, no real issues loading cd’s it can take a little time finding tracks if your skipping through a cd. Great thing also about Rega is they’re lifetime warranty and they are built here in Blighty. Also purchased a Chord Clearway interconnect well worth the £100 I paid, brings great detail and depth to the sound.

The best way to change batteries in the Rega remote is to have the drawer facing you but turn it upside down so that the logo is at the top (underneath) and the buttons are against your fingers, then just use your thumb to push up firmly just on the nine dots grip. Trying to push it towards is very difficult I agree, just turn it around and push up.

I've had my Apollo for a week, and am really enjoying the sound. It has a nice soundstage, detail is excellent, and it is very musical.
I had been using a CD63 SE (KI Signature) for decades. It was like going from the music being presented as wallpaper, to a full 3D sculpture.
It is _almost_ good enough to stand against the P3 for listening pleasure.
What I did do was to take a fine jeweller's file and gently dress the sharp corners on the botton of the finger recess of the lid. Just a gouple of gentle sweeps to remove that sharpness. I'm surprised they don't do it before shipping.

Does the Apollo play SACD's? I assume it will play Hybrid SACD's but nowhere on the Rega site does it say what type of CD's it plays. I have the BRIO and this seems to be a nice fit to sit on top of the BRIO but my amplifier runs hot when I play it loud, so I am concerned that the heat from the amp will harm the Apollo if it sat on top of the amp. I have 4-ohm speakers hence the heat at high volumes. Cheers.

      Is your amp top vented?

    • @LifelongMusicJunkie

@@AdamsBrew78 No vents on the top of the Brio. I have a different SACD player (Denon) so I did not get the Apollo.

Hey, does your Rega Apollo have problems reading CDs? Mine has some problems initially. After some attempts (play/stop/reopen etc) I works perfectly. Do you have any suggestions/ how can I resolve my problem? Thanks in advance:)

They are usually fine, but can get out of alignment, speak to your dealer, they should sort it under warranty

I don't have much regard towards the Rega CD due to my experience with the previous silver Apollo a decade ago. It so CLUNKY especially the software. If you keep on playing track selection. It will Hanged!.
The clip on Disc is made of plastic and tight fit in the long shaft of the motor drive. If one press too hard. The clip on Disc will slide downwards and will impede the laser pickup properly. I still prefer if they use a drawer or the very least the CD ROM drawer of desktop computer like many Italian cd players and Roksan BlaK CD Player.
