I looked at that, I couldn't stand it because it was way too fast to get the piece of paper vs a longer program where you have that time to fail (by fail, I mean make mistakes but learn). If you just wanted the paper, you may as well, just take free Coursera courses and get those certificates while having some game projects. But in my opinion, if you want to go to school, you have to consider that game development and design isnt about just making one game, but learning to incorporate a lot of things into one product. Like, Ive talked to those advisors myself, it's just, for a master's, when I can go to GiT and go for a master's in CS and get those more theoretical concepts or University of London and go for their graduate Diplomas on Coursera and get some more in-depth knowledge on that platform. Full Sail is great, imo, don't get me wrong. But for a more rounded and thorough *EDUCATION* , I don't think it's for that. Like, it's like a glorified incubator service you pay for, imo. Where, your main goal is to network with other students. Game Design at full sail, as far as I know, is just designing a game, basically front to back but on a team, and for *your whole degree* ... And that's why it's not my cup of tea. Try to explore what degrees are out there, from Kennesaw State University to big ones like NYU and RIT, NJIT for software engineering (I know a professor who wants to run a game architecture engine class called IT666, god, IT266 and IT366 killed my soul sometimes in my undergrad there) to Drexel for Computer Science in game development Explore and make sure you know where your dollar is going. Full Sail, vs a traditional online program, is ACTUALLY not as competitively rated as you may think It's $700+ a credit, for 40+ credit hours... A degree at the University of Illinois Urbana Campus is 20k flat and is a bigger name. Georgia Tech is 9k ASU is 15k (USD of course) Compare programs Do your research. Don't just stick to UAT and Full Sail

Hey Rahul! Amazing video 👌🏽 I’ve learned the hard way about the importance of portfolio/ work experience to enter the game development industry in Canada. I had to spend an entire year building actual projects solving interesting problems and having these projects on my portfolio also made interviews easier as I always have something to show and talk about. The thing I haven’t realised is the quality of the portfolio you need to compete against the talent present in Canada. Wish I had access to this video before I came to Canada 🤣 but yeah after completing my course at VFS I had to work on my portfolio and job hunt for an year to finally land a job.

Hi sir! I am 15 and I want to do game development as my career. I was looking into Falmouth University and Academy of arts of university. Whats are the advantages and the disadvantages of both universitys?
Lol, don't ask this guy about specific schools, that's not for to him and you, hell it's kinda lazy on your part, ngl. Go ask current students and alumni from the universities your looking into. Find student clubs and orgs from those schools DIRECTLY (school clubs do have discord servers and reddit threads) Search *LinkedIn profiles* and see where alumni ended up going to You can't get someone's perspective of a school if they've never attended said schools. You have to go to the meat and potatoes and stare directly at the school And also, ask yourself, "what are your goals with getting a game design degree?" And on top of that, ask yourself "why are you not considering a degree in art/design or programming/computer science/information technology/software engineering?" Also, ask yourself "What in the field interests me?" And dont just say "to make games" There HAS to be more to it. What kind of games, what kind of tools, what kind of *specific skills*, do you want to learn the theory or are you just into the application, do you want the fundamentals or are you all-in? *Do... The... Research... Yourself...*

Try to explore what degrees are out there, from Kennesaw State University to big ones like NYU and RIT, NJIT for software engineering (I know a professor who wants to run a game architecture engine class called IT666, god, IT266 and IT366 killed my soul sometimes in my undergrad there) to Drexel for Computer Science in game development
Explore and make sure you know where your dollar is going. Full Sail, vs a traditional online program, is ACTUALLY not as competitively rated as you may think
It's $700+ a credit, for 40+ credit hours...
A degree at the University of Illinois Urbana Campus is 20k flat and is a bigger name.
Georgia Tech is 9k
ASU is 15k (USD of course)
Compare programs
Do your research.

Thank you 😊 did you do the Game Design program at VFS?
@@RahulSehgalG2M yes I did the game design course at VFS even though I come from a software engineering background. I wanted to round off my technical skills with design and it was an amazing experience learning about all production pipelines.
@@naaniize would love to do a podcast with you! Email me Rahul@gamer2maker.com
@@RahulSehgalG2M will do!

Sir.. Im currently working in IT as a tester.. And im having 1.5yrs experience... Im eagerly interested in game development and i planned to do MS in canada.. Is my IT work experience involved as my gaming experience? Or it will not be considered as an experience... And if i pursue ms in canada can I get a job ??
Hello! Unfortunately your testing at an IT company will not be counted. Do you want to do MS in gaming?
Find student clubs and orgs from those schools DIRECTLY (school clubs do have discord servers and reddit threads)
Search *LinkedIn profiles* and see where alumni ended up going to
You can't get someone's perspective of a school if they've never attended said schools.
You have to go to the meat and potatoes and stare directly at the school
And also, ask yourself, "what are your goals with getting a game design degree?"
And on top of that, ask yourself "why are you not considering a degree in art/design or programming/computer science/information technology/software engineering?"
Also, ask yourself "What in the field interests me?"
And dont just say "to make games"
There HAS to be more to it. What kind of games, what kind of tools, what kind of *specific skills*, do you want to learn the theory or are you just into the application, do you want the fundamentals or are you all-in?
*Do... The... Research... Yourself...*
