The original is definitely the best, so nothing comes close to the greatness of Manilla Road in general. But Visigoth really did a fine cover of this song and they are a great band! Cheers from Serbia! \m/
I'm a huge Visigoth fan and have never listened to Manilla Road, but that is changing as of today. I think the original by Manilla Road was way better and I'm about to listen straight through all of Crystal Logic. Thanks for the find!
I am going to go with Manilla Road. On first listen I wasn't sure about the vocal style it took a second listen and it's an old song but a different sound to my ears anyway. The early eighties production is a minis point though, though I find the vocals interesting the guitars lack the punch of the cover but for me it's fresh enough in style for me to find the original more interesting to listen too
Visigoth is awesome, but one of the chief architects of the band, Jake Rogers has two other bands that in my opinion are even better. Both bands only put out one EP but both are absolutely masterworks of atmospheric/folk influenced black metal. Check out Gallowbraid--Ashen Eidolon and Caladan Brood-Wild Autumn Wind. Both are very long songs, but well worth the journey.
I will give my vote to Visigoth. The whole album The Revenant King is very good. If you are interested in another band from the U.S. then Ironflame are quite good. There latest album is Blood Red Victory.
You guys have great taste! Manilla Road, Virgin Steele, Manowar. Would recommend Timeless Miracle if you enjoyed the synths in Keldian. They only have one album, but it's excellent cheese.
Speaking of Visigoth, I have an idea. They have a song called Dungeon Master and it's about role playing games (literally, not just fantasy or games in general). That could be the theme of a vs battle :)
We have covered already Visigoth in an earlier Band Review, but not Night Demon. What kind of music do they play? Or I should say what kind of metal - Anamaria
@@MetalAcademix they are a trio from California. Very early 80s sounding traditional/NWoBHM-like. 2 studio albums, a live album, and an EP they released last year. Several official videos up on youtube. A great 4-song live performance from Rockpalast festival (2018, I think), plus other fan-made live videos. I saw them in 2018, great live band. Opening band was a female singer who had one of Visigoth's guitar players, but I forget their name.
@@sopwithsnoopy8779 That was Blood Star. Madeline Smith lead vocals with Jamison Palmer from Visigoth lead guitar and back up vocals. They just put a new song on Bandcamp.
Always Manilla Road (masters of Epic Heavy Metal) first but Visigoth done great cover in own style in better record studio. Manilla Road and Mark "The Shark" Shelton inspired many band all over the world like Solemnity, Ironsword, Doomsword, Battleroar, Crystal Viper, Claymorean and many more. If really metalhead you should know music of MR and masterpiece albums: Crystal Logic, Open The Gates, The Deluge and Mystification.
Hi Anne Marie just found another Finnish band called Dawn of Solace what a sound love the track Lead Wings Toumas is a musical genius has his hands in 3 bands Wolfheart Beyond the Dawn and Dawn of Solace
Thank you, Joseph, I just gave Dawn of Solace a listen and it is very good, on the border between doom and prog. Quite incredible that Tuomas can play all the instruments (minus the main singing part)! -Anamaria
Absolutely agree - Manilla's voice is weird. I believe that cover done a little bit better. P.S. Vocal of Visigoth reminds me System of a Down O_O Wait, I cannot stop listening the song now - over and over again, holy hell!
I had the same feeling in the beginning, but if you give Manilla Road an honest listen you might end up becoming a fan. Give it a go with Crystal Logic! :) -Michael

Visigoth have nothing on Manilla Road
The first time you hear Marks vocals they are kind of jarring, but they grow on you, and are frankly irreplaceable after extended listening

@@MetalAcademix Omg. Mark "The Shark" Shelton died 07.27.2018 RIP his soul 😢. I have changed my mind, now I vote for Manilla Road.

US Power Metal is my favorite genre. I would love to have more of those bands get popular
It was close but I gave the edge to Visigoth because of their vocals and their more energetic interpretation. The "headstock cam" was fun!
Visigoth, and Night Demon, are 2 of my favorite up and coming US metal bands 🙂

Hey Bangers, please make a Battle of Sabaton vs Amaranthe with 82nd all the Way!! Sergant York thanks you
We loved that idea, so we have already an episode on this battle of the bands: th-cam.com/video/ugS7TIi5fp0/w-d-xo.html

I wonder what your reactions will be to the Pentagram a.k.a Mezarkabul group.
Visigoth; when Jake sings he sounds like he's channeling Rob Halford.
But Mark sounds like Skeletor and for this kind of metal it's PERFECT
Have you had "Children of Bodom" on your channel? ... how about a battle for song - "Hellion" original from "W.A.S.P." 🍺🙂🤟
No CoB yet... Great idea for a battle, since we don't have any W.A.S.P. so far, either - time to hit both bands in one episode. -Anamaria
First time hearing these bands... I liked Vanilla Road better
visigoth for me

I agree, I like Visigoth better. I will check out Manila Road.

@@MetalAcademix I gonna buy their album Crystal Logic. 🎼 By the way, I must say Thank You, guys!
Well of course a nwobhm revival band would make a better cover off of manila roads only nwobhm album
Visigoth for me has a more clean sound overall better vocals and production quality
Visigoth was good before they got signed. Their cover can't touch the original.
What would have changed after having been signed do you think?
