Before people get a bit confused about the grind, while it is long, Nick made it a ton harder for himself by not doing the tutorial or *one* double battle. The tutorial would unlock WonderWoman and doing double battle *once* will unlock missions that let you earn points faster
edit: somehow I missed that he actually did get WonderWoman, just didn't see him play as her in the video so I assumed he didn't have her

And almost everyone toasts you and gets you 20 gold each, so doubles is the best way to get it.
actually, and this bug happened to me and vernias (i was watching his livestream), i think that when multiversus open beta early access began a glitch with the server caused the extra challenges to not load properly.

Fun fact: Each and every player starts with a different selection of starters. For example: I got Fin the human, Garnet, Superman, and jake, while he got Taz, Harley, Shaggy, and Jake

On day 1 I no-lifed a bit so I ended up unlocking the following within 15 hours (though how much of that is afk time I don't know. I did eat food and got distracted chatting with friends):
Reindog - 2k
Iron Giant - 3k
Batman - 2k
Tips for gold currently:
#1 Starting missions: 1 time only, and super easy. Helps you unlock your first character to keep you interested.
#2 Play with a friend: You get a 30% XP and Gold bonus. Also more likely to get toasted by people. Or you can just keep toasting your friend.
#3 Try to do well: You seem to get more gold if you participate more. If you're idle, or running away, I've noticed you get significantly less gold. If you get thrashed hard enough that you can't even get 50% on an enemy, it's possible to get 0 gold, so try to move on to the next person if you're paired with someone way out of your league.
#4 Level up your characters: You get 100 gold per level up. Meaning you can get 1500 gold per character, and you start off with 5 characters for free (4 starters, wonder woman from tutorial). meaning 7,500 gold from level ups alone. Remember you'll get money from matches at the same time too, so it's nice to have a goal.
#5 Daily wins: 100 gold on the spot if you win. So even if you don't play much, just get the one win in.

For me as a League of Legends and Apex legends player the grind was nothing compared to these 2 titles. I Spent maybe 3 hours getting 4k coins and spending half on Bugs. Still not sure if garnet is gonna leave the rotation so i just wanna secure her because i find her rly fun too

Can we talk about how he says I-wron giant
I've been having sm fun w Multiversus, I got to rank 150 with Batman. Im my several hours of playing, I have made quite a few observations:
1. Taz needs a nerf. He can kill at 60 damage with his tornado relatively easily, and can initiate his tornado virtually anywhere to a point in 2v2s you will just run into teams of Taz's and you will lose no matter what. He should not be a free chatacter and not do the damage he can, as virtually no character has a counter for him that he cant eat and use against you.
2. Some characters need their movement rebalanced, a good example would be harley or batman, which have slower down and up specials than other characters which makes no sense as they are considered vertical characters. A good example would be shaggy.
3. Iron Giant is not good. Any character with projectiles can beat him, as all you need to do is avoid his downwards attacks and use your ranged attacks to stun them and then combo him. Although Taz is a much better character, this strategy also works against him.
4. Unlike in smash, attacks don't have reduced effect if they are spammed, incentivising Tom and Jerry mains to spend the game throwing Jerry at you 24/7, Jake to constantly use his skateboard, Taz to just be Taz because hes annoying, Finn to use his bag spin, you get the point. Button spamming is not punished
5. Superman seems overpowered at first as he can basically kill any character at any percentagewith his flight, but up against a skilled opponent he loses. His punches do very little damage, his lazer eyes dont hit characters in air, his jet punch is easy to dodge, being grabbed is easy to dodge (do not try counter it by spiking him mid flight you will get caught)
Those are my thoughts anyway, I cant wait to see how the game progresses (ideally so that Taz gets a nerf or so that 2 players on the same team cannot be the same character)

I only have 1 week playtime and I grinded so Hard to get Tom and Jerry, Iron giant and Velma. You have to grind that game so hard to reach anything.
