    Kipkay. I am currently 16 years old and I started watching you when I was 11. I was always inspired by your projects, but my age restricted me from making most of them, though I've made a few. This video really brings back the memories from years ago. These are the types of projects we all started watching you for. Please bring back more like this!! Keep up the amazing work, good job.

    I had a hard time finding 1 1/2 clear PVC pipe so I used a protective cover used on fluorescent tube lights. I used bolts from my scrounge box in the garage to weigh it down. If you use the entire roll of LED's it will make an assembly 20 inches long. On the end of the wire, instead of using a wall wart I used a cigarette lighter plug for power. By the way, I made 2 of them, can't wait to fish with them! Thanks for the idea! The whole assembly cost about $30.00 to build both!

    Hey Kip, really like your videos. I make lights like this. I use waterproof lights and skip the clear pvc and the weights. They work great. The lights draw phytoplankton which draws small fish which draw larger fish.

    I like that light for darn near anything. I see getting a multicolored light strip with strobe effects and making 2 or three for tree decorations in the yard for garden parties and night time gatherings. Not to mention cool mood lighting for seasonal occasions like Christmas, New Year and July 4th. What a simple and really nice build.

  • @vainwretch
    @vainwretch 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    1) I would use a cable or rope of some kind to carry the weight of the light along side of the small gauge wire. 2) I would also water proof the power cord on the inside of the cap as well . I would not use silicone to do this I would use a marine or plumbing type 2 - part epoxy dough, like $6 at Lowes or HD. 3) On the LED wrap at the end I would go around it with electricians tape in combination with the glue.

    Two minor differences I would have done: 1) I'd have sprung for the programmable LED light strip so that you could get it to change color. Of course, I'd be using this more for decoration than for attracting fish, so the different use would drive that change. 2) I'd have made sure to use the silicon on the inside of the cap as well before securing it to the tube. Might be overkill, but I figure if you're going to try to make something water tight, might as well take all the steps to lock it down for sure.

    Now that you mention it, I could build a cool light system with the led lights but make the tubes look more steampunk. I'd also like to make a mad scientist style light switch to turn it on or off. Other steampunk projects, too.

    Very nice construction. I like the color of the LED's. I have a fishing light that I've used for years, it's a halogen lamp inside a test tube. The color is white, you can buy them for around $20. They also sell LED lights for $25 - $50, but it's more fun making one.

    Question: Is the AC adapter that you used on the video rechargeable by plugging it into a wall socket? If not, how do I make this light portable so that I don't have to use power from an electrical outlet? Is there a battery or some kind of portable power supple I can use? Sorry, if I sounded too stupid for those who are smart enough to think this is common sense! I'm very interested in this but I want to make sure I understand this fully before I commit myself to this project. Thanks to anybody who can answer my questions! And thank you very much kipkay for posting this very special idea for all of us to learn from!

      Grand Wonder Since you have trouble understanding electricity, you should buy a light already assembled. I respect your willingness to admit your limitations. No one can be good at everything. I'm an electrical engineer, but some projects, like this, I would prefer to just buy the finished product. If I can't find it, or it's too expensive, then I might build it. Good luck whatever you decide to do.

    • @buddyclem7328
      @buddyclem7328 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Grand Wonder Actually, adding a rechargeable battery to a power supply would be a fantastic idea for a project! I might build one. That would be cheaper than a UPS. Thanks for the idea. A good portable 12VDC power source is a jump pack for jump starting cars. Mine has a cigarette lighter plug.

    What wave length of light was your green LED's? You really need the correct wave length. Not just any green light will do. The green light it self does not attract fish, it helps plankton breed in that area, which attracts fish. People will put this under water around docks and after a few weeks more fish start to arrive. For a pool part it would be cool to drop a color changing one into the pool. But drop a few batters into the inner tube.

    I like how when you talked about the opinion thing at the end you added "You like to share your opinions here." you snuck that in hoping we wouldn't notice :P I love your channel, I don't make anything you do, but I like to see what you come up with. :D keep being awesome. Keep being you. :D

    You could also tweak this design and use super bright white LED's similarly set up for a work light

    Cool video but if you want to avoid purple primer pick your self up some oatey gold when glue a connection hold them together tight for about 60 seconds. This works I put up solar pool heating systems at one time. Pool water is pumped up to black plastic panels and then returns to the pool we always changed the pumps to a pump that could handle the head height and the connections were under a decent amount of pressure.This save you a little money and time in the end.

    I usually just toss an old led light bar in the water it's already water resistant but this is a cool idea

    Since these are LEDs, you need to make sure you connect the correct wires together before you solder them.
