LOL ... I dont think this is happening. Well by late 80s precision was mostly dominated by the quality of the motor. Proof of that are all the Yamaha and JVC deck with plastic flywheel able to maintain W&F better than 0.8. Motors got so perfect that they could deliver "constant torque" over a certain range. But, as they are not enterely closed loop circuits, they suffer from ageing. This is the second part they got perfected. Unfortunatly the 3 or 4 well known brand that have been manufacturing this motors for tape decks, are not longer producing them. Also, people interested on trying it again should take notes on simple mechanisms that were still low W&F, long life and just a bit more complicated than the average cheap tamashin thing, The ones used y JVC Hitachi Fisher on the bottom line soft touch decks. I think this is good enough to selll the ilusion of a "cassette come back"

The prices are so low on them that they're practically free, and there's always such a weird mix of genres. Nice to see someone bringing back turntable features that were commonplace in the 70s and 80s are are almost extinct now because of the audiophile less features = more premium thing. They should make a full size version though - wouldn't add a whole lot to the cost to put on a bigger platter and put everything in a bigger cabinet. They could include a matt and call it the "pro" version.

Perhaps "spectacular" is a bit of an exaggeration, but I could listen to those suitcase speakers for hours with no fatigue issues (with no urge at all to chuck the player in the garbage or take a baseball bat to it) and I can't say that about standard tinny or anemic-sounding suitcase speakers out there. :)

I love it when we've been sold on a load that only a novelty record player can be made for less than a hundred. This blows that up in screaming fashion with nice sound, even adding a sound system so it can be used alone. We've been told this repeatedly regarding cassette decks too. Makes one wonder if the people behind this might consider that? Here's another thought. This player could be any young person's starter table, how about putting the same effort into a real audiophile turntable at an amazing price? My 2-cents is just make a new AR-XA, or even better that final more refined version called AR The Turntable? No need to re-engineer these designs, just make new tables using all the same parts. My prediction, if they did do this and were able to keep an eye on price, it would be a market disrupter. While, perhaps, Linn wouldn't worry, it I would be nameplates made by, and including, Project that would feel a chill in the air. Good video. I always get excited at good audio for a bargain. Even though this isn't something I would likely buy I have total respect for what this funny named product achieves.

  • @watdanuqta-mf5ms
    @watdanuqta-mf5ms 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Absolutely perfect. it was speeding up and slowing down, easily visible and audible. Not much you can do about it at this price point; the DC motor needs some sort of servo device attached to the motor otherwise the motor keeps on accelerating, that's why better belters use synchronous motors with a lot of poles. The speaker isolation was a cheap way to sort of, I repeat sort of isolate them from the cabinet which basically makes them free air. Better if the platter was isolated and the box sealed or ported.

    Wow, how cool is that!!!
I really don't need a record player, BUT, I may buy it as a backup....or just that fact that it has great features. And yes, they should've at least added a foam pad for the platter. The RCA line-out in the back is OK for hooking up to a computer if you want to record a record to digital, but they could've also added a USB line-out "for" computers if you wanna go that route. Overall, for $99.00 that's an excellent price for what you get...and then some!!!

They raised the price! 😭 (Word is getting out!) Do you still think it's a good deal @ $150? I mainly want to transfer my old vinyl into my PC, but it's also nice to have a stand-alone player that I can move from room to room if I get the itch to spin a disc.

Doesnt look like this really interesting player is available in the UK at present, but I do note that they also produce a very cool, fully automatic vertical player as well. I dont think I have ever seen an automatic vertical player with its own speaker before. Interesting company. I presume Chinese but not available on Ali Express as far as I can tell.

Very little “airing of grievances” in the review, plus no tinsel, “I find in distracting”. Time to get out the pole and celebrate.
The At3600l can be a very acceptable cartridge, shocking what you get for $100.00. This would be a wise choice for a beginner into vinyl, or those that inherit a bunch of records but nothing to play them on.

This is a really cool concept that I'm quite surprised hasn't already been done; taking established, well-developed Bluetooth speaker assemblies and marrying them to decent inexpensive turntables complete with their own PLC logic to move a motorized tone arm, yet designed from scratch to be a standalone product. I like that a lot of thought went into the final product.. not something just quickly bodged together with off the shelf parts for a quick Christmastime cash grab.

I been searching for a player the likes of this one for sometime. What I like about your reviews is that you don't spend 7 to 10 minutes unboxing the equipment like others do. That's boring and I don't care how it comes in the box and how shiny and glossy the pictures appear on the box. That's just filling in without content. What I want to know is how well the equipment plays. Your reviews are informative, concise, unbias and the fact that you purchased the player without it being a free promotion is impressive. Thank you for a great review. Best regards.

Using a Command record or anything from Enoch Light is a great cheat code for testing how good a record player can sound! He invented the use of multiple mics and mixing boards and revolutionized audiophile vinyl...GREAT CHOICE!

Plus their records have very high modulation level, so that puts extra strain on the tracking ability of your cartridge and stylus. That Fisher record I played before it is at a much lower level, so I had to boost it up while editing the video.

I remember discovering Enoch Light's "Stereo 35 MM" in my parent's vinyl record collection. It was NOT my type of music at the time, but it was one of my favorite recordings nonetheless.

This is awesome. The only thing I might add would be a line input. The company could offer a portable CD player with line out to pair with it, although a Bluetooth model would work with it as is. If I didn't already have a good turntable, I would jump on this.

It seems a good deal for 99 dollars and some interesting features like audio-technica stylus, auto cue, bluetooth. Improvements would be a full size platter, speed adjustment with quartz control and/or knob/slider, integrated speakers are not really necessary, as external speakers (or bluetooth headphones) will do a better job.

I am sure the audiophiles will crap all over this like they do everything that doesn't cost as much as a car, but this does seem like a nice little unit for someone who just wants to play their records, and doesn't want to have a whole reciever and speaker setup. And for under $100, I would say this is a great option.

There are turntables of a higher grade, but they tend to sport an avant-garde design that I thoroughly dislike. Make a decent quality phonograph that looks like phonograph!
What is interesting about this turntable is that the DC motor looks like it's the same design that are used in the compact cassette decks.

    • @vwestlife

You really found a gem here Kevin.
Really impressive in terms of features and the fact that it comes with a proper cartridge/stylus says a lot.
Now, I don't think you can replace the cartridge but at that price there's no need, you can still upgrade the stylus to an elliptical.
I hope they come up with a model that has a full size platter.
As of now, it's $105 on Amazon with a regular price at 160, so at $99 it must have been a Black Friday deal. Still, pretty good value for the money.
