Yes indeed, I am one! I have very cool pale freckled skin with blueish undertones and strawberry blonde hair. My skin is cool and hair is warm. I can not wear warm colors without looking ill. Black, dark gray, gunmetal gray, cool blues, navy and some cool light purple colors suit me.
Thank you for covering this. One color theory “specialist” nearly convinced me that I should dye my hair a cool ashy blonde color to look more natural and balanced but this is my natural color and it’s perfect for me!

Cool toned red-head here and luckily I have quite dark red/auburn hair with not much orange in, so a little easier when picking colours! You were totally right about the eyeliner with the black dress, If I want to do a black or a brighter colour then I have to add a bolder, pin-up style eye to make it work or it looks super heavy. I look best in cool sage, greyed-navy, blush, dusty blue, muted berry etc. Love you doing some redhead colour analysis and not typing us all as warm!

I am a cool toned redhead (auburn specifically). My wedding make-up artist INSISTED on warm toning me. I’m STILL mad about it a year later. Can’t look at my pictures. I literally look like I am a lot bigger than I am and it’s because of the make-up. Crazy how such small things make a huge difference. She insisted that cool redheads don’t exist, but my mom has told me since I was little that I am a cool toned redhead and my sisters are warm toned. We wear completely different colors and all look good in our different color schemes. Drives me nutso when people say it can’t exist.

I am olive (Indian skin tone) and I was always told I have warm undertones....I recently figured out that my undertones are actually blue and pink, and my skin is yellow- so it mixes to look green/olive. And the yellow on top makes me look warm to some people. So technically I am not warm. It blew my mind away because I always wondered why I looked so good in blue and muted cool colors if I was so warm!!

That why in MAC (and only in MAC, opposite the rest of brands) C (cold) and NC (neutral cold) foundations are yellow and olive. This is super-common, olive skin is usually incorrectly identified as warm. I’m about the palest possible version of olive and I discovered, in my pro color analysis, that my undertone is definitely cool. I look great in my recommended cool, light, soft colors and awful in yellows and oranges, etc. and the warm-undertone makeup I was wearing. We all have some yellow pigment in the overtones of our skin (except albinos), so it throws off many analyses. Olive skin of any color depth has, in fact, cool undertones. Many Asians and Africans have this skin tone, as well as many Europeans, like me. Too many color analysts only have familiarity and experience with European skin tones, but it’s gradually improving.

Thanks for shining light on redheads, Merriam! Interestingly, while I totally agree that Christina is bright and cool, I prefer seeing her in warmer tones. That’s why I love her looks from earlier seasons of Mad Men much more, her coral and green outfits coupled with warmer, softer lighting made her look much softer and more sensual and lively. Later seasons have a harsher, cooler lighting and a super cool navy-fuscia palette that really emphasized her cool skin, and while it made her look brighter, I’d argue it looked too heavy on her and made her features too sharp and her complexion kind of dead. I agree that a rose gold would look amazing on her, but between gold and silver, gold is definitely the winner in my opinion. I don’t know how that can be true with her cool skin, but red hair seems to be a special case haha

Just to add to what you said in terms of dying hair red: Christina Hendricks' natural hair colour is actually a warm yellow blonde, but it makes her skin look kinda grey & murky. So, I can understand why she dyes it red, since it's cooler compared to her natural colour, but not as drastically different as cool brown etc. Also, putting a cool toner in her natural blonde might just look too mousy for her. 🤔🤷

I, too am a very cool skin with freckles and strawberry blonde hair. I can wear dark autumn, but look fabulous in periwinkle and fushia. I cannot come close to orange or gold or yellow/lime green. My sister is a darker redhead who wears those colors extremely well. But I've found that both gold and silver are bad. I can wear a bronze color and copper, but nothing that clashes with my hair. I tend toward dark colors being over 6 feet and very dramatic in body type. But that blue shadowed skin baffles the color wheel since the freckles and hair "seem" warm. I get typed as a warm spring, which is silly because I look horrid in those warm pastels. You're the only color type person who seems to "get" the red is neither cool nor warm.

Hi Merriam, I'm Cool and Radiant with with Dark Brown eyes, Brown/Black Eyebrows and Auburn hair. I've recently been trying to mix bright silver and bright copper jewellery. Silver on its own is okay. Bright Gold clashes with my skin. Pewter is boring, but I think the Bright Copper/Silver mix is the answer. I haven't tried Rose Gold but I think that could work too. Thanks for this video, it's very helpful. ps Two different Colour Analysts in the past advised me to dye my hair Dark Ash Blonde or Dark Ash Brown and it really does suit my skin, but when I do, it's like a light is turned off, in my appearance. It is quite difficult to reconcile clashing hair and skin in terms of temperature. L'Oreal Dark Rose Gold Blonde is the best hair colour I can find for me.

Thank you so much for this video! I'm a cool toned red head! I'm also a color specialist and HMUA and it's because of my coloring that I do what I do. I have very pale, neutral leaning cool toned skin and very strongly gold hair and eyes. I've been able to be a color chameleon because of it because I can shift my coloring to both warm and cool. I can't do extremes either way, though. Orange is definitely not my color, but certain yellows look great on me, but more so when my hair is cooler toned.
I've had sooo many different hair colors, but I've been doing a soft black (again, no extremes) for over a year now with the best response from people. I've found it's typically the cool toned redheads that look especially good with black hair (Adam Lambert) of your style and body type is strong enough.
I'm a Kibbe Flamboyant Natural that strongly leans Soft Dramatic with a pretty gothy edgy vibe. I also look good with more natural colors, but I don't stand out quite as much. More dramatic reds, chocolate browns, and black have been my best colors. I love cool toned gold's because they stand out enough, typically as one statement piece. Rose gold is the most flattering, though. I looove peach when I was to do something soft and pretty. I used a lot of light peach at my wedding and it made my skin glow. Teals, emerald green, blues, and purples are stand out colors for me. Black is when I'm fully supporting it, hair and makeup wise.
I always chose yellow based foundations because even if the undertone wasn't quite right, it was still brighter and lighter looking. It's hard to find a super light, cool toned foundation. But I've been using white and blue mixer and it's helped a ton!

Thank you so much for making another video about redheads :) I too have warm red hair (however more of a dark gold tone which is warmer than Christinas red) with cool skin undertone. What works best for me is combining darker summer colors with autumn colors. For single colored tops my absolute best colors are warm autumn green followed by summer greens with grey in it, darker shades of blue & grey & violett and I absolutely stay away from reds, oranges, yellows, or fuchsia.
Most important for me is that the colors are not too clear or too light. I guess what works for us is also heavily influenced by eye color, mine are of a darker grey and not clear.

I am a cool toned redhead! But I only just fully learned this from watching your videos. I have been told all my life I am "warm" and I am an "autumn" and so I've often tried to wear earthy, brown, warms tones. But actually these colours are not me at all. I kind of disappear in these colours and they also do not reflect my personality. I am a dramatic type of person! So recently I tried to wear just the colours I love and wear more striking, strong make up and wear black too which I love. This video has clarified what I was beginning to suspect - that I am cool toned. even though my hair is red and gives the apparency of "warm"... actually, my skin is so pale that you can see the blue veins in my arms and this I think gives me a blue dominance. I was also told once that I should wear spring tones with these peaches and oranges but I looked terrible. Yellow also is my worst colour possible. Thank you for this in depth video, it makes a lot of sense.

These are the folks with very pink undertones (rather than peach) and light blue/grey/light green eyes. They can wear makeup that looks horrible on me. I have light brown/hazel eyes, alabaster skin and dark red hair with golden highlights. Blue toned lipstick and any cool tones make me look horrible. Colors with warm undertones - warm greens (olive, grass green, warm forest green), blues (navy/royal blue and turquoise), cocoa browns, mustard yellows, dark red-oranges, tomato red all look good on me. Dark Charcoal grey looks great as does very pale peachy pink. Rust is too warm and matches me too much, melon and salmon are horrifying on me and cool yellows, mint green, slate gray and washed out cool blues are my worst colors ever. People get confused by us redheads because our hair is orangey but you *always* have to check our skin and eyes. So when looking at your first example with Christina, I must say that I agree that those cooler colours look better against her skin, but something that stuck out to me on every picture is how her hair didn't seem harmonious with her at all. So I googled and there was an interview where she said she is a natural blonde, dying her hair red/copper since she was 10. And while I agree that there are a few rare cool toned redheads out there, they usually have more of an auburn/red penny type of hair, not the golden orange Christina has here.

  • @somariedekock7465

Thanks for the video, I appreciate the perspective that redheads can have cool skintones. I've heard that I must be warm toned because I have freckles and yellowish brown hair so many times that I started believing that I am unable to see colour correctly. I was typed not only an autumn, but a warm autumn at that. Can you imagine... the autumn colours really look off on me, very dark amd heavy. So I kind of settled for spring, because at least those colours aren't as heavy so they don't suck the life out of me as much. But I still prefer how I feel when I wear cooler colours. It does take some balancing, because if I go too cool, the colours clash with my hair and it looks off. So I love the suggestion of the "warm-cool" colours like warm purple and warm blue. That was my conclusion too. The other really confusing thing about my colouring is the yellow sunburst pattern in my seablue eyes 🤷‍♀️ but I really do not have any warmth to my skin.

Another cool redhead here! True red to copper penny red hair (half white now at 55), blue-grey eyes, very pale skin with true blue veins, and heavily freckled! In the summertime my freckles darken and I can wear some colours that are slightly warm but in winter, when my freckles fade quite a bit, it's obvious that I'm cool! Cool greens, navy, cool purples look great on me. Black, charcoal, cool greys too. Silver, platinum and stainless steel for jewelry. I have some white gold too but sometimes it looks a bit too warm for me in winter. Olive green and yellows make me look ill!
I feel that, thanks to the hair and freckles, we can often get away with wearing some warmer colours in small doses. For me I can pull off some warm whites and, surpringly, cognac during the summer!

In t-shirts I can wear colors of soft summer but in sweaters when the color is more in the vicinity of face & hair I need more saturated colors, e.g., greens (not turquoise + not brown green), blues, and violets (has to be cool) from autumn or winter or a combination of a cool and a warm color. This might be because there is contrast between warm hair + cool skin tone that needs to be matched but it is not the typical contrast from winter or autumn that is based on light and dark features.

are you sure though that black does actually suit you - I think you should have an analysis done. Light haired winters have white or silver hair or the whitest blonde. Summer colours would not wash out those winters because they still have the right undertone. The characteristics of Winter are high intensity and high contrast as well as coolness, deepness or brightness. Your hair colour is medium intensity and typical of summer.

First, m daughter is definitely cool toned yet she has dark blond hair with auburn/redish sheen to it, and she has blue/green eyes. With very little contrast there, I feel she must be a Summer type. Secondly, me and my unusual combination. I am Winter with cool brown eyes with a hint of dark green, and cool fair olive skin. Yet my brown hair has a very subtle auburn sheen to it in the sun, and in summer I get a lot of freckles on my face. Orange, yellow, cream, any warm and muddy tone are definitely a no no for me, and my daughter. Finally someone is talking sense. I don't understand why color seasons IMMEDIATELY shuts out being categorized as cool when you're a redhead. Like, really? Color is always more nuanced than that! I've always struggled with my season because of this and often I think I look good in winter colors as a red head.
Same as me, when you see Christina, you immediately notice her skin and it's coolness. Imo. It's so obvious
Also, I think it's not uncommon for a redhead to have cool skin and warm hair. We don't always fit into a perfect category. Instead of trying to say that we are either/or, I think it's something that can be embraced. We can embrace the contrast. I think this contrast can look so beautiful and dramatic!

The hair framing my face is now completely white whilst the back of my head is still red with some white sprinkled through. That has really lowered my contrast (cool toned skin but heavily freckled with blue-grey eyes). My best colours haven't really changed but I look best now in a less saturated or more muted versions of them. I've never worn much makeup but nowadays I find that I must darken my eyebrows (using a light hand with blonde colour pencil), wear a light coat of mascara (brown) and a lip stain or my face disappears behind my glasses (I have 2 pairs with black and navy frames).
If I wear a more saturated colour such as dark navy, dark forest green or black near my face, I need to up my makeup to help keep the look balanced.
I used to be able to wear those strong colours with minimal makeup because my red hair (true red - copper penny mix) was so dramatic but now with the white hair it's too much without makeup!
I have absolutely no desire to go back to fully red; I love the white and, at 55, it feels and looks authentic!
My hair is mad curly though so the overall look is not "old" at all!

I've always been told all redheads are cool undertones. (And bc the makeup industry is lazy and cheap, they have convinced us cool=pink so that they have an easier time making the highly visible vascularity that all human faces have, but pale ppl don't have the melanin to cover it, uniform instead of giving us what all other skin tones get, which is a product to match and unify the true skin tone. We get a giant bottle of the uglies pig colored liquid blush to uniform the redness that we ALLLLLLL want to cover up.)
I've also been told all olive tones are warm and medium skin tone.
However here I am. Red hair, blue eyes, freckles and an undertone that can only be described as the love child of Kermit the Frog and Eeyore from Winnie the Pooh.
I have luckily found your channel and follow the advice you give cool olive undertones and I have never received so many compliments on my makeup. I really appreciate the open mindedness you have for fair and cool olive undertones. Humans are diverse looking, who would have thought?! 🤷‍♀️😂

The reason why some redheads think they're olive is because they're cool. and they're being told that redheads can't be cool....so they find olive and think it's the answer, but it's not. it's only that they're cool redheads which is the real answer.

I think everyone looks best in their natural hair color. I see so many really jarring “blondes” with dark brown or black eyes and brows, they think it looks good, but it doesn’t, ever. I don’t believe there is any validity in the Kibbe system, either, every analysis I’ve had comes up with a different type, from all over the full range and I never fit any category well. It’s nonsense, as is the idea of body shape being related to coloring, it isn’t one bit. I do think Color Me Beautiful is valid and useful, it’s the original, and still the best. People are prejudiced against it because it uses seasons for names; I agree that it’s not the best nomenclature, but the system itself is reliable and the analysts are well-trained. I wouldn’t get anything other than an in-person analysis, in outdoor light shade, they’re too expensive to waste money on and a wrong result can lead to many bad purchases in wardrobe, hair color and makeup. Around mid-day is best, say between 10 am to 4 pm, in spring or fall, early morning light can distort cool or warm, as can late afternoon light (usually warm). Adjust time the accordingly for summer and winter, to find the mid-day hours for your latitude and date (Google can give you that if you don’t know how to get it from a map, it doesn’t have to be exact, only approximate).

Your premise may or may not be correct, but the choice of colours you're comparing to try to "prove" your point leaves a lot to be desired, as the pink and navy are both bright spring (cooler than warm spring I guess, which is a better fit for that peach you say isn't as good), and the only truly cool colour you analyze is black, which you admit doesn't work as well on her (but dark charcoal suits bright spring). So you basically spend the entire time claiming she's cool because bright spring suits her.

I’m a natural redhead, and I’m cool toned. My natural hair color is kind of a sandy auburn, and my best colors are cool and bright. I actually did my hair a cooler toned red so it would work better with my skin tone. The shade of Christina Hendrick’s hair looks terrible on me. I look like Ronald McDonald.

That's not her natural hair color, so it doesn't make sense.

Please use examples of real redheads not fakers. Redheads are genetically different and this affects us more than our hair colour. She's no redhead. 🤢

this is what i have such a struggle with because people always use celebs with fake red hair like emma stone, christina hendricks, etc. it is frustrating

I think this whole thing is absolutely pointless. Just wear whatever color you feel good in

Why you picked up NOT natural redhead to this analysis? What is the point? Give the example of cool tonned natural redhead, so maybe I will belive you. Vast majority of natural redheads are warm tonned, they can lean towards neutral, or neutral-cool, but natural redhead with cool undertone is very, very rare. I'm waiting for examples. Give me one celebrity that is natural redhead and cool tonned. Ups, I don't hear anything. Maybe they don't exist?

That's bcs she's not a natural redhead. Natural ones r always warm. Genetic fact.

Not a genetic fact. Redheads with brown or hazel eyes will be warm, ones with blue or gray will be cool to neutral.

@@jenniferdavis3446 Redheads can have any eye colour. But they are always warm. That's bcs epidermis and hair r basically the same tissue and r governed by the same genes. They r either BOTH warm or BOTH cold.
