The pallet guys/gals are all over. They get paid per pallet, so they stack them as high as possible before others snatch them up. It's even worse now with the way lumber prices have skyrocketed.
In our warehouse, it would be damn near impossible to cause that much damage from that hit. Everything bolted together as well as to ceiling and floor. It would take a much bigger hit than that to do anything near what happened there.
I watched a barge break the exact same way on the Chicago river outside my office 4 years ago. It broke in the middle of the summer and got removed next summer. It was around for so long it had its own parody twitter account.
The crew working with jackhammers ( 4:18 ) demolishing concrete pillars. The guy on the edge was safety strapped to the arm of the guy working on the other side of the same pillar, not something structural or solid.
Type in short bridge and watch the top video. The bridge is fixed now, but it's a crazy video of truckers trying to go under this bridge with a low clear height lol
The one guy at the 7:00 mark, that's building those additions onto the front of that building, built them from the top down when he should have started at the bottom and went up so the bottom additions could hold up the weight of the ones above.
Some of these should be on the supervisor or foreman. Like that crane one, it was moving like there was a fair amount of wind and considering nobody wants to pay more renting a crane than they can get away with, the operator may well have been perfectly good at his job and dealing with a flex issue.
An awful lot of people sat in their apartments during Covid thinking "This would be so much better if that concrete column wasn't blocking the view..."
That might be the only explanation for why someone would remove a section of a load-bearing concrete reinforced column in a multi-story building, with many stories above the section being removed.
I worked at Wal-Mart and I did in-stock,unload trucks and sort the items onto skids so go to correct area in store, this day I had dog food area,so was just pulling skids fully loaded with 50lbs bags of dog food,as I come out of back area with full skid,I turned and hole skid fell over(15high) and it almost fell on a woman and her baby she was sitting and feeding her baby and I said hello to her and almost killed her and her baby, after that we would break down skids to no more than 7 high,I left and quit that day and they called me back and said it's not your fault, your manager told you to carry it on the floor that way.I felt so low,my hands shook for hours after that, never forget the look on that woman's face as the bags barely missed them.
@@officeblokemike7914 haha when I got to be about 24 or 25 all of a sudden my parents got a lot smarter. Now we're best buds and they laugh at me trying to wrangle my own little rascals. Lol Hang in there! 👍
The guy trying to hold down the items in the back of the truck was lucky he wasn't carried off too. A really close cousin of mine was moving out of my parents' house into a new place and was blown off the back of a truck that my mom was driving with the mattress he was trying to hold down. He died at the hospital a couple hours later from his head hitting the pavement. My mom was in a deep depression for a long time.
The one at 4:00 isn't that bad. They have all that scaffold and shoring in place to pick up the weight of the slab above, so the columns aren't actually carrying any load. That is pretty common practice when you need to do a column repair or upgrade. They are probably just upgrading the building. They clearly removed most of the concrete at the columns already, and just have the rebar holding it. If the column was going to collapse, it would have collapsed by now. The only concern is they don't seem to have much lateral support, except a few braces at the wall. It would be better not to chip all the columns at once.
My buddy at work always sends us accidents at the workplace and they were funny till he sent us a video of a man getting stuck in a grinder sucked in and ripped in to about 20 pieces while his coworkers tried to shut it off. Craziest thing I ever seen
We had a fatality here in my country many many years ago, people were moving and instead of tying down the mattress a guy laid on it, (and of course it blew off).
hate to be that guy but some of these are slight mistakes that lead to misfortunes. like mechanical failure or wind. once in a 20 year mistake. we just have camera's 24/7.. I feel like 50 percent of these people aren't idiots

Great jump by guy from the barge/boat sinking to the other of that gap to safety!

It's amazing that more people aren't dead. Like they say, common sense isn't so common any longer.

I was wondering if they were pouring it into the truck of someone they hated!!
8:48 Those ones where the people are taking out part of the building have to be eastern Europe. Nowhere else would allow that.

I don’t really understand what they are doing to those columns but they must be cantilevered to not fall

They might be removing the side column to install a wrap around window
I thought they just wanted more of a view
7:05 those decks *should* all be cantilevered into the main structure but.... *sigh*.
