Absolutely wonderful and right on point. These very creative musicians rehearsed everyday as part of their daily routine. I have learned a lot from listening to Wailers Music in headphones over the years. The excellent producers who worked on these projects are to be saluted. Thanks Andrew for breaking it down and thanks for the information you share with us. You are a true inspiration.

This is amazing. I’ve easily heard this song 50, maybe 100 times in my life.
Never had any idea how brilliant the playing, layering, and arranging were.
    Thanks Puremix.

This mix sounds different and better than the original album version. Also, Mix The Music has not added any new music in quite a while. Oh well......However, Andrew's insights are spot on.

I just love the way Mr Scheps talks about good musicians...that´s passion. Respect.

This is so cool. The arrangement is stunning and as always there’s no better rhythm playing than what comes with The Wailers.

This is the greatest thing you've ever done for me Andrew. Hit everything perfectly. The focus on those guitars alone will change my game forever.

The rhythmic section was always tracked together, and it still is today in most roots reggae production. Only drums mic'ed in the live room with bass, guitar(s) and keys in the control room with d.i. sometimes the wailers used to also mic bass and guitar cabs to enrich the tone, but the d.i. signal was always the main one.

Bubble synth organs say: I wanna love you!! They made backing vocals with synths. Genious!

@pureMix Thanks for this amazing session. As a follow up, how about Andrew doing an interview with Chris Blackwell? He probably can clear things up how he and his engineers recorded those tracks in these particular days.

Love the Omni-channel. While there are a lot of controls, the presets are amazing and the 'focus' which shows you the most important parameters to tweak on each preset are very helpful-my 'go to' channel strip.

49:00 Love that use of a 12-string. Not often you hear a 12-string used for an intelligent purpose.

43:44 the multitrack that you can find on the internet is actually dry with all the tracks in mono so the eq, reverb etc are definitely exported from the mix.

    • @musamusashi

@@musamusashi I don't remember, probably some torrent or Mega link. There were the same as this guy th-cam.com/video/M2_i-3U8Ug8/w-d-xo.html

I love listening to sound production-related interviews like this on TH-cam, but I often wonder why the sound is so crappy. In this video, Andrew Scheps’ voice appears almost three times as loud/present as the interviewer. This is basic stuff, Puremix!
