    Hey Jordan and Erica! My husband and I made a beeline from OGG to the Costco Food Trucks when we arrived! I had a “mini” Loco Moco from Sparky’s and it was the perfect amount with the rice and mac salad. My husband had smoked pork from Poa Pukehu truck!
    We’ve been watching all of your videos and are so happy to FINALLY be here to enjoy Maui.
    Also spent a week on Kauai…what an adventure and extremely beautiful!!
    Now we’re off to go snorkeling!

    delicious post! Btw, lau-lau is usually steamed not thrown in the imu albeit an imu does cook mainly by steaming. It is wrapped in ti leaves primitive tin foil. The meat is wrapped in taro leaves but than over that, the ti leaves wrap up everything. 6:47

    Our 1st day on Oahu we had a shrimp lunch plate and a chicken lunch plate from a food truck at the stadium swap meet. Our last night on Oahu we had a shrimp 🦐 plate and a cubed ribeye 🥩 plate. The best two meals we had come from a good truck on our first and last day on Oahu. Now I need to go back for some poi

    3 P's are important: Poke, Poi and POG juice! Loco moco comes in a close second. I love the chicken/poke lunch combo at Foodland. It is usually $7.99 lunch special. Love it! Ohhhhh musubi. Dangit, that sounds good too! That starts with a P too...it's just silent and invisible. 🙂

    • @TheHawaiiVacationGuide
      @TheHawaiiVacationGuide  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I love the three P's! We don't pitch companies often but we tried to get Meadow Gold, the makers of POG to sponsor us, as we love POG and more visitors should experience it. They haven't answered our emails but we still have it in our fridge everyday.

  • @jamesokuna3778
    @jamesokuna3778 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    loco Moco was started in Hilo in a restaurant across the fire station it started with just rice and gravy a fried egg was later added. a friend ordered a “Loco Moco” at Cafe 100. The waitress did not know what it was so Glenn told her how it was made and the Loco Moco was reborn! Glenn’s father was a “wrecker” a barefoot football team who home turf was the Lincoln Park and were regulars at that restuarant.

    I have to start by saying this, I do not like cocoanut, pineapple, nor coffee. That said I totally love everything you have listed here. I can’t even touch what they call poke over here on the mainland. My friends start spouting of bout some poke they had and I just can’t do it. The shave ice is perfect for after a long training run or bike ride. This will be the first year I can’t get over there in a very long time so I look forward to your videos. I have to commend you on the quality and information presented. Mahalo!

    What do you think of the cruises in Hawaii? Expensive, yes!

    • @TheHawaiiVacationGuide
      @TheHawaiiVacationGuide  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      we aren't very familiar with them, to be honest. We prefer spending more time on the islands than on a ship. Plus, a non cruise vacation is a better way to support local businesses.

    Ok, frozen poke should not be an option! It’s just proof that the fish isn’t fresh. Why isn’t it fresh? Is it because it’s from some other country? Did it need to be gassed to make its’ appearance more palatable? Stay away, don’t be fooled.
