This summer I picked up a 2015 JK Unlimited Rubicon w 100k flat for $19.5k with the tan interior, single owner, warranty from credit union. Can’t wait to take it on a few adventures been loving it so far.
Now we’re talking!!! Best news I have heard on this channel!! 2024 started with the right foot!!! Back in 2018 and 2019, wife and I had the opportunity to buy a brand new JL, but both went back to the JK platform. Today, she is the proud owner of the last 2018 JKU bought brand new, and I got a used 2017 JKU also. We both adore our JKU’s and never regretted not going for the JL.
My son had a 2019 JL and ended up selling it due to the seemingly endless maintenance issues. Based on his experience I bought a 2015 JK 2dr Freedom. The Jk, in my opinion, has just the right amount of technology to do what Jeep owners want it to do, but not so much that it becomes a maintenance problem. I’m totally satisfied with my JK.
I picked up a 2016 Willly's JKU a couple years ago. It was clearly a mall crawling garage queen in its prior life. Put a bumper, winch, and lights on it and have enjoyed many miles of off-roading since. Love my JK!
I know I’m a little late to this video but tomorrow night I’m picking up a 2013 Jeep Wrangler Sahara Unlimited with 82k miles for $18k. White with the paint matched fenders and hardtop, I’m so exited
It was always paint protected, undercoated (live in Maine), comes with soft top, cab cover, doors off mirrors and footpegs, aftermarket head unit. I’m just too exited
bought a 2015 JKUR 6speed hard rock 44k miles from a dealer aug of 2023. knew it had been wheeled. I looked everything over and test drove it over the course of 1.5hrs. pulled the trigger on it. since then replaced the transmission, oil cooler, thermostat, oil pump. $5k later im hoping its good for several more years. it does however still have nice and taught cargo nets hahaha.
Picked up a 2011 70th anniversary 2 door manual JK last year for $17k with 101k miles at a dealership. It has its quirks, and I've done around $1500 worth of repairs that were needed. I also spent around $1000 total upgrading all interior and exterior lights, adding an android audio head unit and a factory looking rear camera. Overall, worth the expenses vs spending 40k+ for a still 2-3 year old wrangler.
Bought my 2010 JKU Rescue Green 7 years ago. It was basically stock. I added 3.5” Lift, Falkin 35 Tires, Warn winch, Snub bumpers…. Love it!! I hear the engines in those years are an issue but this one has been great. No problems and 108k on now. Great JK!!
My 2021 Jeep Gladiator runs great, but I still should have kepted my 2018 Jeep Wrangler JK Rubicon Recon edition. This Jeep ws built like a tank!!! If I do happen to run across one with low mileage I'll buy it!!!
I picked up a 2013 Jku 2 years ago private party that had a Ursa Minor J30 camper installed and a Rock Krawler suspension for a good price. I fixed some of the issues it had and added a Yukon Dura Grip LSD and a Genesis offroad dual battery system.
I bought a 2 door 2016 Rubicon MT with 14,500 miles one owner for $29,500. I thought it was a deal, but I had to buy all new tires, undercoat it, and change all the fluids. I wanted a bestop soft insert, and the factory radio. Several thousand dollars later, but it it very nice now.
I picked up a 2014 JK Polar edition, 2 door, with a 146k miles for $13k, I've put more than 10 k miles, runs flawlessly. Vehicle history report was clean with laser like maintenance done on the vehicle. These 3.6 engines can get you to 300k, have a friend with over 320k miles on his as his daily driver.
Im from PA also. Bought my 2 owner 07 2 door Rubicon with 42,000 miles for 17,000 from California. Kind of nice to have family there who can look and drive the vehicle before you buy it.
This is exciting news. I’m really looking forward to what you guys buy and how you build it out! Reading these comments was super cool too. All the awesome jeeps you guys have and when you got them, are fun to read about.
I look forward to seeing what y'all get and do with it. I just bought a 2016 JKU Sport last week. Super clean and looks to be stock. I did get from a local dealership but made it easier to finance for my situation. Overall super happy to have a Jeep again. It's been too long.
Complete transparency here - I am one of those guys who keeps the stock parts and has spent an entire day returning my vehicle back to stock before getting rid of it. I have literally reinstalled the stock exhaust, steel wheels, removed lift kits, parts and pieces, wiring, even as far as replacing stock lug nuts and lights on a vehicle. A keen eye can spot this. But, I’m also the one who has completely babies my vehicle and has hardly any miles on it. I don’t even have 30k on my 2018 JL. I’m the guy who removes parts for the sole reason to reinstall them with antiseize, dielectric grease, and/or a rust preventative coating. Ive only seen my seats and steering wheel for about 35 days, total! My original floormats are even wrapped in a plastic bag in the garage with delivery lint and stickers. Hmmmm. Come to think about it, Matt & Ryan, you want my Sting-Grey, eTorque Jeep? Full warranty until 2027/80,000 miles.
I picked up a 2017 used JKU Rubi last summer. Other than the A pillar leaks from the freedom top. I love it. I do have plans, but on a 2 1/2 inch lift and go from the stock tires to a 33 inch tire. I’ll be looking forward to following along to the Bild. I’m hoping you address questions like the water leaks and different suspension options for daily driving, Overlanding, and mild off-road use.
I've also noticed mod and parts are much less expensive for the JK. I'm a JL owner and I've seen this JL "tax", gears for example. Looking forward to watching your project!
Great video, the JK is one of the coolest jeeps minus the YJ which is my favorite “wrangler” Keep up the incredible work and can’t wait to see what you guys get…👍
Very cool. If you get some good leads.. especially on the West Coast, would love to get them!! I'm doing some similar content, which is basically a used Wrangler Buyers guide. I'm pretty much settled on a JK, but am also creating content on the JL's as many buyers will want a newer jeep. Will probably have too many videos that are too long, but hopefully they'll help someone, as well as myself as i'm learning a bunch creating the content !! New Subscriber !!
I love my 2015 JKU. I bought it 3 years ago totally stock. It has 56k on it now. The only think I would do different is buy a Rubicon. I didn't think I was going off-road :D I've done a lot to it and enjoyed all of it.
I've always like the Chief trim line, but those might be new enough to be out of your price range. Just paid off my JKUR. Now to figure on what's next for it.
Sold my 07 2 door JK Sahara back in July for $6800. I absolutely loved that thing but had just bought a house and a gladiator and the extra cash was nice. I had custom painted it mojito green, as will as a lift on 35s, all adjustable control arms, track bars, 1 ton steering, PSC big bore gear box, Armorlite flooring, and some other things. But obviously unfortunately it was the 3.8 with 180k miles which hurt the value a lot.
Love my 2018 JL 4DR but it was 42K not 56K. Add in the things that’s broke… 6 rotors and 2 brake calipers so. And I think my heater core is about to Stellantis me hard at 70,000 miles. I’ve done all services mind you and never off-road or tow’d. My Mazda CC/( in comparison. Oil. Only oil. 25K buy mine! Full Hard Top mostly highway miles driving kids from LI to PA colleges New Jeep mopar tires at 46K and front and rear brakes and rear rotors at all services. New front brakes / rotors and calipers at 66K.
Im doing the same search. It’s shocking how many were black. I had a 2015 in black, so I want a different color, but it seems like 80% of the ones I’m finding are black.
2011+ was the appearance upgrades, interior etc, but still had the 3.8 and the 4speed auto , I had one with a 6speed manual and it was actually very reliable 2012+ they put in the 3.6 Pentastar and the 5speed auto, however I wouldnt jump at a 2012 model unless the head has already been repaired, see below Also from personal experience with our 2012 3.6 they had some pretty serious head issues so much so that Chrysler had sent out extended warranties on them which have now also expired. We had to trade in my wifes 2012 Arctic with 198,000 kms due to metal shavings all over the head etc and it was VERY well taken care of.
I lost custody of a 2011 JKU. The 3.8 in my particular Jeep burned oil like crazy. That said, I would get another JKU but with the 3.6 and RHD just cuz.
Don’t know if you have heard this. But I heard on the news this morning that Stellantis is not going to be at the Cleveland auto show this year. The show is at the end of February. Why
enjoying watching through the vids, have y'all added the bulletpoint phone mounts into the 2024 yet? saw some reviews saying it doesn't sit flush on the dash and was curious on y'alls take?
thanks for the reply i missed this vid somehow@@DIRTROADCRED I'm getting my first jeep soon and have been binging y'alls vids to learn as much as possible... Keep doing y'alls thing!!
No need for me to further bash the 07-11 but, mine leaked like there wasn't even a hardtop on the thing. The CANBUS caused all kinds of issues. The only engine problem I had was terribly poor fuel mileage. The shift cable would come disconnected under the console a few times... 🤬. No need to further bash them. We all know the issues. I am looking at TJs now and may consider selling my (Very) low mileage JLU Sahara Mojito! to get one.
Actually 2011 is when they updated the interior still has the 3.8 2012 is the first year of the 3.6 and is debatable as to actually being a better engine. Lots of problems with the 3.6
My experience with a 2019 pentastar at 53000 ,was a complete fail ,I'd rather get an omish buggy and a horse before that junk engine. The old straight 6 was 10 times better.
I agree i think the old 4.0 is better. Simple as hell to work on too if you have basic mechanical skills. Id get an 06 wrangler myself but hard to find clean.
Plus the other benefit you forgot to mention, thieves are not stealing the JK/JKUs because they have a key and can’t start them with a computer like the JL/JLU/JT.
I feel like the 2010/2011 JKU is much more reliable than 2013-2015ish JKU. The first few years of both engines weren't good but I see a TON more 2010ish JKUs with over 200k on them than the 3.6's Hp is a bit lower but torque is pretty close plus iron block. I feel like people dog on 3.8s more than they should
I got a 2 door for sale for ya i just got a 2023 JLU in high velocity so selling my 2012 JK 2 door auto in DOZER with 42k miles Come down to Georgia and get it !!!
Buy a Jeep that is a color other than the typical white, black, red, silver!!! Commando green, dozer, mango, gecko green, hyper green, Gobi, xtreme purple, or chief blue.
I picked up a 2012 JK 4 door Rubicon with 85k miles over the summer for 19k. Single owner and no accidents. I’m loving it!
Hoping to get mine soon!!
Nice. Where?
Scored a 2018 JK Sahara with 40K on it for $25K. Really happy with it.
This summer I picked up a 2015 JK Unlimited Rubicon w 100k flat for $19.5k with the tan interior, single owner, warranty from credit union. Can’t wait to take it on a few adventures been loving it so far.

Between you guys and TFL the interest in JKs is going to be going up!
JK's are the best... I got 207K miles on my last one before having any issues...
Picked up a 2011 70th anniversary 2 door manual JK last year for $17k with 101k miles at a dealership.

Way to boost the channel man, and use that new shop !! Can't wait to see what you guys do !! Keep going Matt !!
Looking foreword to this! I just bought my first Jeep at the beginning of Dec and its a 07 JKU.
Got a stock 17 Recon manual in 2020. Slowly building it. Have 3" lift and 35s. Ready for 37s
All the JK'S I found start at 150,000 KM and go up to 200,000 KM crazy
I picked up a 2013 Jku 2 years ago private party that had a Ursa Minor J30 camper installed and a Rock Krawler suspension for a good price. I fixed some of the issues it had and added a Yukon Dura Grip LSD and a Genesis offroad dual battery system.

Father in law gave me a 2 wheel drive JKU. Converted it to 4x4 for less than $5000 and that included everything to make it 4x4 plus a new lift!
This is exciting news. I’m really looking forward to what you guys buy and how you build it out! Reading these comments was super cool too.

My go to JK would the 10th anniversary. Anvil is such a good color with the read seats
good luck with the build!
Just bought a manual ‘16 two door loaded Willys. 1 owner, 46k miles. Got a really good price on it and it was a no-brainer.
I’m looking at getting a JK for my boys and I to work on end of this year, so I’m really looking forward to this 👍 Good idea guys!!
I have a 4dr JK and love it, just a few mods at the moment. Would like to see what you guys do

Keep up the incredible work and can’t wait to see what you guys get…👍
Very interested in what you pick. Nice choice of a JK for your content.
Just bought a recon edition rubicon 2018 with 49k on it in December in the clearance section for 34k
Very cool. If you get some good leads.. especially on the West Coast, would love to get them!! I'm doing some similar content, which is basically a used Wrangler Buyers guide. Hope you do a 2dr. I’ve got a ‘16 Sport S with a small build. Love it and would be curious to what you guys would do.
I love my 2015 JKU. I bought it 3 years ago totally stock. It has 56k on it now. The only think I would do different is buy a Rubicon. I didn't think I was going off-road :D I've done a lot to it and enjoyed all of it.

With jk's can u upgrade dash/gages to more modern
Im doing the same search. It’s shocking how many were black. I had a 2015 in black, so I want a different color, but it seems like 80% of the ones I’m finding are black.
I've never put anything in the door nets of my 2014 JK, and the nets still started sagging about a year ago.
interest rates?
2011+ was the appearance upgrades, interior etc, but still had the 3.8 and the 4speed auto , I had one with a 6speed manual and it was actually very reliable

I think Google says the most reliable year of JK is the 2015. I've tried to convince my wife to get one for summer but she's no fun. 🤣
Now I want a JK as a daily driver, way more daily use than my YJ 🤞
Don’t know if you have heard this. But I heard on the news this morning that Stellantis is not going to be at the Cleveland auto show this year. The show is at the end of February. Why

What happened to this project? I was looking forward to see how cool can you make a JK look like these days
I could not go back to a vehicle without a push button start. Keys suck!! My Gladiator is not going anywhere.
I feel like the 2010/2011 JKU is much more reliable than 2013-2015ish JKU. The first few years of both engines weren't good but I see a TON more 2010ish JKUs with over 200k on them than the 3.6's

Have you guys bought a JK yet, or is it on hold after starting the 392 project? I’m just curious what you bought, if you have yet?
We’re still looking for a clean one! Stay tuned
The 3.8 is much more reliable than the 3.6. Ask any mechanic.
I got a 2 door for sale for ya i just got a 2023 JLU in high velocity so selling my 2012 JK 2 door auto in DOZER with 42k miles Come down to Georgia and get it !!!
i sent you guys an email
You can get an early JL for low 20k's, and it's gonna be night and day comparing to any JK. No idea what's the point of buying a JK in 2024.
Because the JK's are badass!
Buy a Jeep that is a color other than the typical white, black, red, silver!!! Commando green, dozer, mango, gecko green, hyper green, Gobi, xtreme purple, or chief blue.
3.8 has more problems than 3.6? 😂 Love the simplicity of the pushrod V6. Might be a turd, but it's a reliable turd.
🎉
Only a few days left of 2024 what gives 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
JK.... JunK? Just Kidding?
07 -11 are the best years tonget for motor swap. Thry are cheap because no one wants em plus ugly interior
