I'll never change my mind this is a classic.
I was just transported back to 1986- in mind and soul(unfortunately not body)- haven't heard this in over 30 yrs- wow- amazing- kick ass track.
It was so well done and I’m glad it was apart of me back in 85 !! Use to listen on my Walkman at 12 years of age I remember very well !! Gary was very a head of his game .
I heard it 1985. Am I wrong ?
@@davemiller7676 No, I remember hearing it in a club in 1985. The only summer I lived in DC was 85 and I heard this/saw the video at Cagney's nightclub near DuPont Circle,
WHERE DID MY TOES GO??
A Magic track! Remember buying this 86 and still have it in perfect condition and yes! I still play it....Yeehaa! Numan and Sharpe are just brilliant. Bring back the good music Please. Everything seems to suck now.
I was lucky to find it on CD in the nineties
2022 still listening ❤️
You are not alone, awesome tune
2024❤🔥
Damn this is good! I think I was in 9th grade when Cars came out. What a great time! I miss those days, the vibe and the music. Today's kids will NEVER understand!
Oh the 80's new wave...
Ikr
nothing like the 80's 90's new wave music .. the best years of my life .. when people actual danced @ the club and not just stand there.. this song makes me want to dance my ass off .. brings back soooo many memories love it !
the 9Oies never will reach the 8Oies
Discovered this track on the dance floor at Numbers in Houston, Texas back in 2000. Changed my life.
I danced to it at Numbers in Houston back in 1985. I loved the song, but by the time I caught wind of it, the record was already out-of-print, and the only copy I could find was at a second-hand record store with a whopping $100 price tag! I was tempted, but I skipped it, and by 1987 it was re-released in CD format and I got it for around $20. Still have it :)
@@VorteceDamn! That’s crazy! I found it while digging through a record shop in Dallas a few years back, found it for $25 bucks! Mint. I got lucky! Lol Time to go back to #’s. 👾

Me too!!!!! Oh if only I had a time machine! Numbers & Xcess in Houston, The King Fish Club in Lafayette and World War 3 in New Orleans! Best time of my life!!
Cheers
@@kristimcgowandarkoscellard3126 #’s is still open, no need for a time machine! Not much has changed there. It’s still has the same energy and vibe. Do yourself a favor a pay yourself a return visit. 🪩💟
Holy moly! I haven't heard this gem since the 20th century. Then it was on TuneIn today. What an awesome song! Thanks for uploading it.

In this song, the Oberheim DMX and Yamaha DX7 ROM-3A patch "Fretless 1" was heard.

An A+++ for this masterpiece. I have listened to it 200 times or more on a good cassette I taped from the radio ! Good stuff !

Always a thumbs up
Absolute beautiful track. First LP I bought in 86 I was 5 years old. From a place called Jackie’s Record shop in a small town called Walkden near Manchester. My dad was horrified as to why I didn’t buy rock and roll or Jackson etc. No, I was defiant, still am!
Jackies Spin A Disc, Market Hall, Walkden.. Bought my first records from there also.. 👍👌
I hd this and would play it on New Wave night back when i was a dj. I would mix it with Dead or Alive and or SPK. What a great song
Awesome Pino Palladino bassline!
Such a great song! Gary Numan has said that at the time he was unsure of doing this project with Bill Sharpe. I think it was one of his best moves at that point in his career....your upload is VERY good quality. Now tell me you can do the same thing with No More Lies. The Razormaid mix is posted but it is very different from the original extended and the quality is so so!
Absolutely current.
Masterclass!!
Right On
Yesss ... so long ago, heard it last time ;-)
very smooth
Love Gary N vocals
1:22, just wow…
Ahh you found it !! Hopefully it sounds as good as it always did . This was a super trick hit and was a hidden gem indeed .
This is so 80s.
Monster 12" pressing on UK and German Polydor. Speakers get ready :)

Still here Dec 2019

City Beat in Seattle! Batcave!
Cort Richards : Kingfish Club Lafayette Louisiana 1988! Best time of my life! 😁
Cheers
Hell yeah! I don’t see City Beat mentioned very often, but I was there. Skoochies, City Beat and Monastery right around the corner. We probably know a lot of the same people.
@@immortal2u Indeed! I am absolutely positive that we know each other. Cort Richards is not my real name. It is a nom de plume I use here on TH-cam.
If you remember the two Brian's who hung around with people like Lee and Andrea, sometimes with Big Mouth Andrea also, as she was known as back then, Debbie with the toothpick eyelashes, Ray Smiley, Shari who was our .......ahem....MDA dealer, ( don't know if I should say that, but what the hell! ), Susan Sorter, Peri Menees.......sometimes Roxy would hang out with us after she did her solo dance to Knock on Wood.....oh, who else can I remember?
Let's see....there was Boy Mike of course, but he didn't hang with us too much. I remember Morgan and Pauline.....OH! I totally forgot Mercy and Mateo, Misty and Murray Ledbetter, Paris, D'mitra who went by Mickey much of the time. Lmao........'Mercy knows'. I remember when she said that, and it has lasted with me throughout the rest of my life for some reason. Probably an MDA or LSD flashback! You may or may not remember that, however.
I am actually the tall Brian who had black hair ( Jesus, who didn't back then? ) and was always with the blonde Brian, who was and still is, my best friend. We always danced with Lee and Andrea and that group for the most part, though both of us were very gregarious back then and would hang with just about everybody at City Beat.
We were both at Skoochie's in the early days as well as The Monastery, when it was still open. Damn! The Monastery is a whole other entity....lmao! I will happily admit that I was either on MDA or LSD, or both most of the time, when we were out clubbing and dancing until early morning.
I know I am missing a bunch of people in my recollections, but I am betting you'll recognise some of those names above, and you may even be one of them!
I hope this post finds you doing very well and enjoying a great life! The Monastery, Skoochies, City Beat days were probably among the best times I have ever had in my life. Those were fun days and especially nights!
We used to all drive up to Vancouver, BC once in awhile and go to the clubs there too. Vancouver makes me think of Skinny Puppy for whatever reason...lol. Probably because that is where they are from. Yes indeed, very enjoyable and good times we all had back then. To be honest, I really miss that MDA, and if I could get my hands on some today, even though I am now a 57 year old man, I would so do it!! That stuff was so out of this world good! Goodness, here I am waxing poetic about MDA on YT. Anyhow, I think I better close for now eh? This is getting long. Take care and hope to hear from you again! - Brian
Brian! You brought back a lot of memories of a lot of people for me. Lee, Peri, Andrea, Susan. I was more commonly known as “Agent” back then, and hung out with a particulary swarmy fellow named “Blammar” and another named Jon and another named “Stryker”. Are you still in Seattle? They just recently did a Skoochies reunion. A lot of the old gang gets together for “Ceremony” at the ReBar monthly still, I think. You probably did Vogue and Colourbox too? I’m living in France now as of 3 months ago.
@@immortal2u Wow! How cool is this? Glad to meet you again Agent, even though it is via YT! I actually have a photographic memory, so I don't forget much. It is a weird thing to be born with, but it does come in handy, most of the time.
I am now living in rural Minnesota with my 2nd partner, of 20 years now, believe it or not! I stayed in Seattle for many years but I eventually moved back to Montana, where I was born, to take care of my ageing parents, who are now deceased. I met my current partner when my brother and I took a trip to Minnesota for genealogical purposes. My partner is the curator of our local museum here, and that is how we met.
So, here I am in very rural Minnesota, though it is only about an hour and a half drive to Minneapolis/St Paul, so that is very handy and useful. I love it here. It is very quiet and so much different than living in the city, that is for sure. I do miss everyone from our Seattle days and I would so love to go to those Skoochie reunions! What fun that would be! Yes, I did Vogue and Colourbox as well! I remember your name and I remember the names Stryker and Blammar as well. I am sure we met at some point! I love that you are in France, that is so boss. I speak a little French as it was my major at University in Montana. Must be beautiful there in France. Much of my ancestry is from the Alsace Lorraine region, and I would so love to travel there someday. The rest of me is Scottish, English and Welsh, as well as a good dose of Norwegian from my mothers side! You are bringing back many memories, my friend. I still often do the Batcave shuffle or whatever we called it, when I dance...lmao! I miss those days a lot.
Tragically, I think Lee passed away a number of years ago from HIV. I am positive too, but my health is great and I plan to live a long life. I lost my first partner to HIV/AIDS too. His name was Steve, and we lived up on Malden Ave right below 15th in what was known as The Castle building. They were actually called The LaCrosse Apartments, but the building was very distinctive, with a Cupola tower on one end of it. You may or may not know the building, but I thought I would mention it. Steve and I had this gigantic three bedroom flat that we lived in at The Castle on the top floor, with access to the roof and the cupola. That was a fabulous apartment and we were very lucky to live there. It had a total view of all of downtown Seattle, and one could even see across the lake to Bellevue from that top floor flat. I do miss that place a lot.
I swear, one of these days, I will get back to Seattle and go to one of the Ceremonies/Skoochie reunions. How fabulous would that be! I really miss everyone from those days.
I have been in contact with Mercy a few times over the years, as well as Pauline and Ray and the other Brian of course. I am not sure where everyone else is these days, but I hope everyone is alright and doing great. We had a lot of fun back then, and as I said, they were among the best times of my life.
Well Agent, prenez soin de vous, et je vous reparlerai bientot, J'espere! Bonne chance, mon ami! Love Always - Brian M
