  • A Greek island with a dark and tremendously bloody history, where a ruthless enemy came to cause trouble. The brave and noble Hospitaller knights from various countries defended this city and its huge fortifications several times until the enemy became too powerful to hold back. The old town in Rhodes has medieval structures that are among the most interesting in the world. The fortifications are enormous and was built after the Hospitaller knights conquered the island in 1309. They stayed here until the Ottomans themselves conquered the island in 1522. Easy to be in awe of the enormous fortifications on Rhodes.

Amazing. Modern military has years of behind the scenes development for arms and supplies; but they can almost fight a war and be home for lunch. Yet the people of old had to develop their fortifications in the open under threat of attack at any time. Life moved slower back then.
PS: The symbol of the Knights of Malta is still worn by St. John Ambulance. I proudly wore it for six years.

The Knights were attacking all moslim vessels on the Eastern Med
Suleiman ll had no choice to stop the pirates.
    Afterwards he pardoned them
    They moved to Malta
Where the become semi- slave traders with the Arabs from North Africa
