    Miss this guy so much. He was absolutely amazing, never seen anyone slide a bike into corners the way he could. He oozed talent, my opinion is that he could've easily become multiple world champion, if only he didn't self-destruct :(

    Gobert's self-belief on a motorcycle was astonishing, as if there was no trouble he could get into on two wheels that he couldn't extract himself from. Time and time again, he did just that on the racetrack.
    If only he'd been able to escape disaster in life the way he did as a racer.

    Per superare all'esterno del curvone a Misano ci vuole una guida sovrumana e due palle da elefante. Peccato davvero che AG non sia riuscito a disciplinarsi fuori dalla pista. Anche l'anno in AMA, nel team Vance&Hines, diede spettacolo puro.

    I miss those races very much. He was one of my favourite riders. Such a great talent. I remember when he managed to carry the Bimota to win race one at Philip Island under the rain. He would probably won also race 2 but it was stopped due to heavy rain when he was 5th or 6th. He then had a terrible crash at the very dangerous Sugo circuit in Japan and his and Bimota season virtually stopped there.

      He raced during ,in my opinion, the glory days of world supers. One of the best guys to watch as he was not scared to push past the limits of the tyres. Two thumbs up.

I usually see him 3 times a week now always pop in and say hello to the lad

    At laguna..... 2019 wsbk are only 1.5 seconds faster than 1998 gobert.

      Ah, not true. The tracks big change was in 1988 to meet FIM requirements. The only other change was to the 'hump' on the Rahal straight in 2006 (?). So at best that's just a couple of tenths different. Peace.

    Gobert was amazing to watch at a time when WSB was at its best, he may not of won the title but he gave the likes of Fogarty and co a run for their money and his sideways style was ground breaking at the time. Fond memories indeed!

      I live in Blackburn and I know Foggy and Neil( burnley), I asked him about Gobert n Neil said he was a major ass hole, he would wheel spin his bike, gravel into his motor home yeah as his helmet dried in the sun Gobert pissed in Neil's helmet, Carl Foggy said Slight was a total dick head too.

    Nothing says "The Go Show" more than that lone green Kawasaki parting a sea of red Ducati's. Even with his struggles he was incredible. We were fortunate to witness it.

    i know him and his late father goey was the best at 16 he had won every suyper cross in australia my sons raced with him ant was mostley quite, most of the time but his mum and dad were piss pots so what chance did he have they say it runs in the blood , but at one time he was the best thing to through a leg over any bike , now its sad to know he has fallen, anyway i rem you ant.

    Faceva uso di stupefacenti beveva fino a scoppiare non si e e mai praticamente era un puttaniere inccalito sempre fuori forma ma quando saliva in moto era qualcosa di fenomenale un talento puro uno Stoner versione punk riusciva a guidare al limite e trovare la quadra con mezzi non sempre performanti o peggio ancora degli assi da stiro (come nel caso della Bimota nel 2000 e riusci a vincere una gara a Philipp Island) peccato se fosse stato disciplinato fin da giovane Fogarty aveva una gatta pelare aveva il talento per batterlo sul serio..ma purtroppo si e fottuto la carriera prima dei 30anni..

What he did in his private life is his responsibility, i'm not the one who can judge his acts (i'm not aware of what he has really done). If it's gone the way you describe it's a reall shame.     Seemed to always know the limit of his tires and then take the bike there ... and beyond. Should have stayed away from the dope. I read recently he was almost bashed to death with baseball bats in a home invasion.
