    If you click on grab echo on the sfc player tab, you will get the exact SNES echo settings from the selected sfc track which should not the make the instrument sound dry. The echo settings are on the Channels tab and you could turn on or off the echo on each selected instrument. You could also save the echo settings on the Channels tab (which the settings could be used on the chipcrusher's SNES echo settings (a VST effect by Plogue)).

    I saw thus just recently, I love how they made a whole video explaining all the research that went into it.
    Quick PSA, since not everyone knows: Soundfonts/samples from games are technically copyrighted, so using the grabber and using the sounds from games is a potential legal pitfall (not likely that any lawyers will come after someone using the soundfont of an over 20 year old game, but they'd theoretically be able to).

      a good way to get around this stuff is to own the Roland SC88 VST and other stuff (used at the time as rack-synths), and then make ur own .brr files from sampling your already-owned stuff.

      Hi (main dev here). I wanted this feature for multiple reasons. The main one is to study SNES compositions and learn how they work. Nothing beats playing with the original sounds and redoing the pieces as an exercise right? Second, there are plenty of remakes in the pipes and I know that some composers appreciate being able to extract their own samples. One of them even asked me to allow full extraction in WAV! I was kinda shocked by this. In any case, use your head, and the feature is not illegal in itself. have fun and oh. Demo will go out today :)

      @@plgDavid I'm definitely glad that this feature exist as someone who researches video game music, I'm certain I'll use it for a future paper! Also theorized with someone that it'd be a good way for composers to analyze and rebuild similar sounding samples from the ground up. Though, I hope no one will make themself liable because they don't know better (even if the chance of getting found out and sued is likely pretty small)

    @Schematist, I recently got the music-making software called LMMS because I plan to creating music for potential RPG games. One of the first series of themed music I wanna make is for snowy areas, such as dungeons, parts of the overworld, towns, etc. Do you have any tips or tutorials that could help in creating something like that?

    • @Schematist
      @Schematist  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I heard great things about LMMS! hmm, I actually haven't made any overworld theme tutorials, but that is such a good idea! I personally love snowy areas and dungeons because you really can focus on setting the mood with a minimal amount of instrumentation. For me these themes work best when there are maybe 1 to 2 instruments being fully expressive while a subtle percussion is holding the rhythm together. Towns can be happy, regal, or moody depending on the story behind the town. Anytime you have a work in progress feel free to link me, I would be glad to give it a listen.

    Really cool. This is basically a commercial version of the free C700 VST. But the C700 is "only" an SPC soundchip emulator and can read the SPC files and you can select from the samples in the file and play them. But to have an integrated player and such a very easy system to grab and manage the samples makes the commercial version very good.
