Thank you for this video. I just received the book yesterday and am excited to read, but it is always helpful to hear from the author and what a bonus, a trauma informed interviewer! I recently took MBSR and was really struggling, which I took to by my failure (as PTSD does). I was lucky that the course was being taught by a trauma therapist, so when I worked up the courage to talk to him, he explained what might be going on for me, gave me a number of options, and changed his language during guided practices. It was such a relief to finally understand why I had been struggling in yoga, meditation, and mindfulness for the years I have been attempting to practice on my own. I also think yoga teachers in particular need to take it to heart that everyone has trauma. I don't know how many classes I've been in where a teacher has attempted an adjustment AFTER I've told them not to touch me without asking. It can take me weeks to get back to practice when this has been done to me.
So appreciate David bringing awareness to this topic. Eager to read your book and really looking forward to having you lead our practice session in the DC area next week.

great discussion - many thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I need a therapist willing to work remotely with exactly this kind of background -- mindfulness and trauma / complex ptsd. Any recommendations?
Try a sensorimotor psychotherapist
I connected with David’s office contact. He connected me to someone trained by him in less than 6 hours and I’m in Asia !
Thank you!
