These meal prep videos are gold. Not only are they applicable for families like yours, but they are also hugely useful for me: a single mid-20s teacher who doesn't have much time/energy to cook much during the week. Please keep making videos like this forever!!!! :)
the layout looked so beautiful,i wanted to come over through the screen and make one big bowl of that deliciousness and devour it😀 you are an amazing amazing woman!
I make salad every day for my bf lunch. Trying to find a way to prep them all for a week. Lettuce mix, broccoli, hard salami, pepperoni, bacon, cherry tomatoes, avocados, banana peppers, Extra sharp cheddar cheese shredded… no carbs, he’s diabetic. Italian dressing on the side.
I do this all the time and call it my desconstructed salad. One flavor combo that I love is adding cut up fresh strawberries and/or canned Mandarin oranges with a little baby bok choy thrown into the mix. It goes great with a sesame ginger salad dressing for an Asian flavor.
This is genius, and exactly what I've been looking for! I love cooking, so the standard meal prep doesn't work for me. This is great. I could do a pasta bar, scramble bar, stir-fry bar (with tons of overlap with a salad bar), which would aid me in cooking my daily meals and give me zero excuses for eating out!
We've been doing DIY Salad dinners forever - the kids really do love picking their own toppings. It's a great way to get your kids to eat more greens 👍
Dani, a great kitchen help is muslin cloths in tea towel size. threy are great for keeping bread warm and soft for the meal, they replace paper towels, and they are great for absorption in the botton of vegetables storage containers. there are many other uses for them as well. they are easy to clean as well as long as you dont leave a stain to sit for hours. i do so very much enjoy this channel and love sharing it with friends and famiily. hope your day was awesome.
I have no idea why I never did this before. I used to go to Ruby Tuesdays at least 5 days a week for their salad bar. Never occurred to me to replicate this at home. Brilliant.
My family loves putting hearts of palm in our salads. Usually accompanied with feta cheese, olives, sunflower seeds, shredded carrots, grape tomatoes & a mixture of italian and ranch dressing. Thanks for the salad bar idea, I think this will be very useful to incorporate in our household. Can't wait to try your dressings too...yum. 😊
I love olives so much in my salad especially Kalamata olives! Also I love avocado in my salad as well. Also depending on the type of salad I'm eating like a spinach salad I like grapes in it.
What a fantastic idea, especially, in the hot summer or even coming out of summer. to fall It's so healthy too. Watching your show has helped me make much better food choices and has also given me so many meal ideas. Thank you so much for all your videos. They are very inspiring and informative. Also, you live in NJ. I grew up there. Love a Jersey girl!
You and your videos are the absolute best on TH-cam. Thank you so much for your hard work. You have become my family health guru and we wouldn’t follow anyone else as you have everything covered. Thank god for inspirational people like you, you have changed my families life. I don’t know you personally, but I do have love and gratitude in my heart for you. Again Thank you so much.❤️🤩😇
I've been buying salads from the grocery store. My favourite is a spinach base with hard boiled eggs, craisins, feta cheese, and slivered almonds with a balsamic dressing. :)
I do this also in the summertime and Always add some fruit to. Fruit taste great in many salads, like letuce, walnuts and pear or apple. Pineapple with chicken and veggies. mango, shrimps and veggies. tuna, peach and veggies...
Clean & Delicious my hubby accidentally (well against my routine) stored some avocados in the fridge...eureka! They keep for days, maybe even a couple of weeks. Haven't actually checked off a calendar but they keep way longer than on the counter and they're still nice and creamy.
I do this myself and it does make it so much easier, loved the tip about the frozen veggies, never thought of that! Love your vids! I like to add dried cranberries to my salads and of course avocado!
This is so smart and time consuming. It makes me want to get into the kitchen and do this today. We like the basics on our salad with fruit and the crunch of sunflower seeds. This was great. Thank you
My mum taught us this set up was a great hit when bringing friends home for a delicious snack .We didnt have alot but what we had was good to go and nourishing .That makes sence reguarding not washing berries till later woops
We do salad at almost every dinner. But I usually chop all the veggies and add them to the salad bowl, (with the cucumbers and tomatoes on the side). Then kids can then add beans, corn, chicken, sunflower seeds, deep fried onions, cheese crisps, croutons, ect.
My favorite ingredient is brisket that I get from my local barbecue shop I get a pound and I separated into four pieces and freeze it till I need it it actually helps me eat salad. My second favorite thing is gluten free French fried onions
Super, marvellous and very, very informative ways to create a healthy and delicious DIY home salad bar. Can't help telling you how GRATEFUL am i to have discovered your cooking channel. Thank you, thank you, thank you. God bless 😂👍💖
You are so awesome 👍 your voice is clear and clean... getting to the point quickly. Love your videos 🏵️ 💕 the layout are absolutely vibrant and neatly laid out. You always demonstrate so well 😊🌺step by step.🌻 🧁 For you my dear 🤗 🌞
Love your videos, they really inspire and help me to stay healthy. I learned as a child, that food only stays fresh (after prepared) for two days. Especially meat. But do you keep all of those ingredients for a week?
I like to chopped up red onion, garlic, basil, soaked in some oil oil and balsamic vinegar. It's great on a salad and you can also add diced tomato and you can use it on a sliced toasted baguette with feta cheese sprinkled on top. Freaking tasty.
my goodness! this video is soooo valuable and helpful ...absolutely the "key" to good health and smart money method, not to mention "efficient"!! thank you friend....
I like the "locally grown" sign in the background! Do you ever highlight locally grown produce in your videos? Sourcing from local farmers is not just fun, but it tastes better AND is more nutritious too!
Hi. This is my first comment on your channel. All your videos are just amazing and they kind of inspire me to eat clean . Thank you so much for keep inspiring me. I have slowly started meal prepping and incorporating few of your tips and tricks. About this video - your salad bar just looks amazing!!!!! N it is seriously giving me future goals to set up my own bar. Thank you so much and love you ❤️
I love everything here. Love the salad bar prep idea! Now, why didn't I think of that? Great video. Thank you! Yes! +Sunshine A. - I would for sure add avocado. I would cut in half, remove the pit, slice and squeeze lemon juice to keep it nice and green and keep in a ziplock for easy grab and go. I usually keep pepitas (pumpkin seeds) on hand for salads too. mmmmm
Just subscribed to your channel. I like it. I have been thinking about ways to prep meals ahead of time for quite a while. If it isn't easy and already prepped, I won't eat healthy. I need to lose weight and this will surely help. Thank you.
love all your videos. you do some amazing work to educate folks on food and nutrition. quick question to you. onion cut up is known to absorb bacteria from its surroundings. i have heard an old wives' tale about how one particular house in an entire village had escaped from a deadly disease - and the answer was, the family used to keep cut up onion out so it absorbed all the bacteria from the surroundings and turned black - leaving the family safe. also, it ll start smelling/tasting harsher if you keep them open longer. and i always feel like I can smell the onion through my whole body/blood the next day. do you do anything else to keep it from doing all that?
I'm amazed your eggs cook in 8 minutes. I always do 18. Hmm. Eggs are harder to peel when they are fresh. I have chickens and the only way I can get their eggs peeled is letting them get really old- which never seems to happen as they need to be 3-4 weeks old to work correctly.
Wow thanks so much for sharing meal prep methods with us, i have never really done meal prep, but after seeing your videos planning to start doing, wanted to know if you would have done same method with spinach storing as lettuce, and also when preparing hot foods do you let it cool completely befor putting lid back and putting in fridge, sorry for all the questions, would greatly appreciate your reply, thanks Dani have a blessed day.
HA! 1, 2, 3! Such a great idea, my kids will love this! Prepping all at once will definitely help me not forget produce in the back of the fridge that will eventually rot. Thanks!!!!!! :)
Found your channel, and subscribed! I already made your rolled oats in a jar. Loved it. Going to try your salad dressing and salad in jar next. Appreciate how detailed and examples or alternatives
Very good video! Thanks! I have tried to store my Romaine lettuce, I’ve washed, spun, chopped and even used paper towels, but it still wants to start turning brown before my week is out. The stalk part of the leaves are the problem more so than the green part. Any suggestions?
I love all these ideas! Especially with the frozen veg, I never knew you could just leave them in the freezer. With fish do you buy them canned or fresh or leave them frozen then cook?
So you're talking 60, maybe 90 minutes of total prep time with all of this. Easy to do on a Sunday night, to prepare the salad bar after dinner. Thanks for giving me something to impress the lady of the house with.
These meal prep videos are gold. Not only are they applicable for families like yours, but they are also hugely useful for me: a single mid-20s teacher who doesn't have much time/energy to cook much during the week. Please keep making videos like this forever!!!! :)
This DIY Salad Bar is the perfect Meal Prep for Spring! Let me know if you agree. xo - Dani

HAha!! You'll have to make it yourself so you can enjoy it!!
I would add tortilla wraps to that spread. I'm not crazy about salads so turning them into wraps makes all the difference in the world for me!
Do you have a video on Hints and tips on how to get kids to like eating veggies?

the only thing missing from this gorgeous spread is avocado

Thanks for the tip on cucumber!
As a college student I love this idea just having everything ready to go. I would sub out the mozzarella for goat cheese and some strawberries.
Yum!! Love those substitutions.
Love your videos, they really inspire and help me to stay healthy. I learned as a child, that food only stays fresh (after prepared) for two days. Especially meat. But do you keep all of those ingredients for a week?
You are super helpful with these prepping ideas! I've recently added sweet/sour cabbage to my salads. Totally takes it to another level. Tfs!
