Mapping Planner System Needs

  • Hey there Planners! Anyone else completely overwhelmed by all the pretty planner launches!?! I WANT THEM ALL! Today I am sharing a technique to map out exactly what you need in a planning system using the Mind Map technique. This technique will allow you to see all the areas of your life where a planner or planning system is needed. Once you complete this activity, you can then shop for a planner or planner system that actually fits your life, one that you will actually use and get the most value out of.
This would be a great process if you are shopping for a 2021 planner or if you are just feeling a little lost in your current system. Mapping out your true needs can be a way to reclaim "planner peace."
I hope you found this video helpful. If so, please give me a thumbs up to let me know. I would love to hear from you:
How do you select a planner or planning system for the new year?
Have you ever used a process to identify your unique planning needs?

This is a cool idea and something I can get into for many areas of life. This makes you put on your thinking cap and figure out just what exactly you need and want to accomplish. Before, the thought of this always give me a headache LOL but you did it and explained the process in such a way that it is doable. Thank you so much. 🦋👌😄😂

THIS...WAS...AWESOME!!!! Thank you!!! I was just working on my 2021 planning system today from the standpoint of how to arrange things in my planner and what pieces of stationary would be required, but what I really need to do first is flesh out the different areas of my life that I need to manage. I can't wait to get started!!!😀

This was amazing. So helpful and informative. I called myself creating my planner system, but I am going to revisit that. More of this!

That's the way I use it too RC. I always want to buy all the pretty new planner things. But this helps me focus on what I actually will use. Thanks for watching!

Oh I can already tell this is going to be a great video.
I bought a Hobonichi Avec, because I couldn’t resist 🙈 but I’m totally doing this exercise!

It really helps me understand what I NEED. Now that doesn't mean I don't cave and buy the pretty things I WANT sometimes too...🤣

Great idea! I used a similar, but more informal process for 2021. Having recently retired and after trying different formats that didn't quite serve the purpose, I'm trying a Stalogy notebook. Using monthly calendars for future planning, a page per day for tasks and journaling. With a weekly review for memory keeping, highlights of the day (like Dakshina, You Tube). I'm borrowing your idea for a separate, more permanent collections notebook. All will be housed TN style in a leather, banded cover for now. May need a folio style for the Stalogy...not sure yet. Excited for moving into my new system. Keep those great ideas coming! Enjoying your channel!😊

Mary, I appreciate you sharing your system. Especially the use of weekly reviews for memory keeping. I have not been using dailies for long but really enjoy them. But now wondering, do I really need a weekly spread? Love the way you are using them. Thank you for watching and sharing! 💞

Do you have a follow up video showing how you decided on what to use? Or showing how to interpret it? I’m stuck on that step.

I don't but that is a really good idea for a video. You might also want to check out our new FB group (linked on About page). I bet some of the folks there might have ideas to help you get unstuck :) I will also try to get a video done on this as well. Thanks for watching and thanks for the idea!!
