Year 2045: "Son, I grew up watching pitchers like Chris Sale, Clayton Kershaw, Corey Kluber, Aaron Nola, Max Scherzer, Justin Verlander, Jacob deGrom, and Madison Bumgarner. These pitchers today are tired after throwing 50 pitches and all of them have had 3 Tommy John surgeries because they all want to throw 110 MPH..."

MVPFLF That might actually be a realistic scenario lol. Not a lot of people are still alive who got to see pitchers go the full nine every game. Back then, about half a century ago, the idea of a bullpen didn't really exist. I don't know what to expect from baseball in the next decade or so... We are definitely heading in a new direction for baseball.

Ben Drescher it’s pretty sad that 7 innings now a days is like 9 innings. Like it’s a spectacular feat. We’re in a bullpen era where we now have “openers” because starters are a bad thing now. This is why I respect guys who can pitch 200 ip+ because it’s such a rarity.

MVPFLF I forget what decade, but, I think in the early 1900s that every pitcher would go nine innings no matter what. The concept of bullpens didn't exist. What the Rays did this year was entertaining, no doubt, but I don't want to watch a baseball era where starting pitchers aren't as important as they used to be. In one of these Chris Sale highlights, you'll notice he pitched 9 innings. That's insane. That's such a rarity, like you said.
But back in the day, it wasn't a rarity. It was normal.

The game has relied on pitch counts this past decade and usually the magic number is a 100 pitches a game. Also they say the third time through the order gives a pitcher the most trouble so that could be it?

It's funny when he throws his fastballs around 94-100 MPH, but throws his Sliders around 77-82 MPH. He's really something indeed.

Chris Sale is an absolute beast. His slider easily buckles right handed hitters like me at the knees.

It surely does....only thing i am concerned about is his awful pitching mechanics...inverted w and side arm slot

    Sale’s thoughts:
    1. Struck out batter
    2. Got the save
    3. Won World Series

Me: *sees Sale throw his slider* "Can we get a RIP in the chat for Chris Sale's arm?
I feel like Sale's best starts he ends up with a no decision or a loss. The ones he gets wins for are normally like 5 IP 3 runs
The red sox ruined his season end by being to cautious with him. They kept him on the DL for way to long, and when he came back his mechanics were fudged up and he generally looked like a guy who had missed a month and a half with a minor injury. I get that the sox don't want him coming back and ruining his career because he didn't wait long enough, but Just look at his "return start" from 1 week on the dl (AUG 12 @BAL) versus 1 month on the dl (SEP 11 Vs TOR)

Have you ever considered maybe a defensive highlights video of like all the gold Glover’s together, or maybe a team defensive highlight vid so those who suck at hitting still get represented for their defense ?

This guy could have been a workhorse who can pitch deep into games but instead his mechanics are so hard on his arm that a "Lincecum" could happen to Sale.

I will 100% make a vid for him, unfortunely I have to come back around to him because I'm a little behind on where I want to be. I still haven't covered Indians, Dodgers, and Cards. Those are the three teams I'd like to finish in the next two weeks and Indians may have the most highlights cause of some many awesome individual years.

FLAMEZ 27 Sale didn’t qualify with too few innings and Martinez 100% should have been a candidate. But in the end Martinez got 2 silver slugger awards, Mookie won MVP, Sale and Price, and the rest of the gang are World Champions. In the end they’re not complaining. Haha :)
