    Other than sticky dash, which is very minor, all of these are normal wear issues I would check when buying any used car. I wouldn't even call these known issues. Sure, I had to install new tie rods and control arms, but it was after 15 years and 200k miles of driving. Would have happened to any car. Yes, I too had to replace my harmonic balancer, it fragged at 250K. Was an ez fix. My stock trans has been flawless and continues to shift perfectly with over 300K on the clock. The Gen I IS300 with manual trans & a few simple aftermarket upgrades is a tremendous joy to drive. Even if you buy one with problems, just fix it and then enjoy it. Will be worth it in the long run.

      Can all this be done at home tho? IS300 was always my dream car, took 2yrs of research and finally found a bone stock GGP '02 5MT w/LSD, with only 68k miles on it. That was in 2015 or so, and I just hit 120K miles on it and haven't done any single piece of maintenance besides oil changes.. I know, I know I'm horrible and this being my dream car. ANYWAYS the bushings thing is scaring me, need to look into that..

      I find the IS3 to be very reasonable to work on. The timing belt, spark plugs, suspension work, wheel bearings and clutch can all be reasonably done in a home garage. A cheap arbor press from Harbor Freight Tools would come in handy.

      @@ppopovich2847 my apologies, I meant specifically the suspension replacement items, bushings, control A-arms? Have never messed with suspension before.. brakes, plugs, timing belt, radiator, no probs, but this bushings business is scaring me..

    • @ppopovich2847
      @ppopovich2847 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Phabeon Dominguez I specifically included "suspension work" in my prior reply. I did all new bushings, tie rods, shocks, and replaced a slightly bent control arm with no major issues and just a few jackstands on the subframe. Was rather straightforward. Just do one side at a time so you can look always refer back to the assembled side if you get stuck or confused. Also, I'm sure you can find tutorial videos on TH-cam or at the myIS forum.

      @@ppopovich2847 I know you did, but wanted to specifically specify the bushings replacement because all the online chatter makes it seem like it's LIFE or DEATH to do em and it's nothing I know about so before I even researched it further, wanted that clarification. Much appreciated

    Dude it looks like you got a massive leak somehow coming from your intake manifold to the Y pipe! Did you seal it with gasket maker or something? Fluids don't obviously flow through there so it could be the Flux capacitor 🤖

  • @saeko5676

    the issue with the manual gearbox isnt a common problem i dont think ive never had that problem with my w58 in my supra and i beat the shit on it drifting a bunch it could just be you had contaminated fluids or worst case you had a worn synchro thats why it only stayed in with slow engagement
