When I think of 2018 playoff Craig Kimbrel, one word comes to mind. Enough. He wasn't great. Some days, he wasn't even good. But he was enough.
If the Red Sox had the same strike zone, this wouldn’t have even been close. No run scored off it, but Workman had a 4-0 walk with 4 pitches consistently called strikes for the Yankees. Statcast had them all comfortably as strikes, meanwhile they get a strikeout on Betts that’s half a foot outside.
Exactly my thoughts, and if you replay this game you can count how many strikes that were called against out right handed batters that were balls the other way. Umpire way too inconsistent this game. No worries I hope we sweep next games.

The point is, no reliever is great because if a pitcher is good with 3 pitches they will be a starter. And if they have 2 they would be a closer. There are very few exeptions like good 8th inning pitchers.

I dont think he realized Torres was behind him covering the bag because normally in those situations the pitcher will cover. Happ couldnt get there in time so he just assumed there was no play.
