methanol binds with water when it sits in the cold all winter and will turn to gelled alcohol and plugs EVERYTHING up. My uncle found that out the hard way when he left the fuel in the system all winter in his sprint car. It was SO fun to clean out.
Bombi says “Ahhhh floor food… What you thinks I am some kinda stray peasant? My food needs to be in a bowl, it’s in my contract. Also I’m not gettin chunky, dat’s my fwuffy winter coat!”: 😽
I Love it when Demri helps work on stuff. She does a good job. You can tell she likes it and likes to learn everything about Vehicles and how to build them. Such a Beautiful and loving wife you have Robby.
Seriously between Hector, Hillbilly, Shaun and Demri I cant work out who is the best. The whole damned team are funny, hard working interesting and generally awesome, as you Yanks say. And I always like a cameo appearance from Bombi.
When winterizing the alcohol fueled car drain oil and remove valve covers to allow alcohol to evaporate from valve train and prevent rusting.. Learned this from Steve Morris.😊
17:00 You can weld fuel tanks without washing the fuel first. Inert gasses like CO² or even exhaust gasses will prevent an explosion by lowering AFR (Air Fuel Ratio) well below a combustible mixer. I watched as my friend Tommy welded his 57' Jeep tank.
hi guys , try this next time you need to welds a gas tank , drain it then remove the sender unit ,attach a diesel car /truck exhaust to the filler ,start the engine and leave it running for a hour or more , it will remove all the gas fumes safely and also the heat will remove any remaining gas
I would use the exhaust gas from a running engine. You then pipe to flow the hot exhaust gas into the the fuel tank. This evaporates the water and pushes out the air to keep it from flaming up.
Have you thought about putting a breather in a hose joiner and putting that into the filler hose if it works itl save welding a fuel tank and its kinda the same as being in the tank
These offroad builds (and King Fred) are all awesome! having the fantastic shop you have built and the having the G O A T fabricator in house. there's nothing you cant do.
Hey Robbie ,you need to make removable mud/snow flaps to keep it from p]plastering the sides or not . looking good keep up the good work you work ethic is a lot like ours
Put some anti seize on those belly pan bolts. Those things get stuck and you're using a hole saw to get them out. Don't ask me how I know (H1 rocker panel protection plates)
Put a hose down into the tank and fill it with exhaust from another vehicle. Once cabon monoxide is introduced it will not catch fire or explode while welding!
If you have to weld on a gas tank you run a hose from a car exhaust into the tank after it has been emptied. Let the exhaust run for about 15 minutes and you can weld with no explosion. No oxygen = no explosion.
For the first time in my life, I ordered something from a TH-camr. No offense I’m not a big merch fan. I’m like a T-shirt and jeans guy from the Goodwill, All my stuff gets ruined pretty quick working. But dang if I didn’t spend 20 bucks for a T-shirt so I could get a chance at that Chevy. Thank you.
See I knew it the Boss could work harder than Colton. I was always wondering why you would have him around when the boss is 10 time smarter than him. Great job today boss lady.
The typical "proper" way to weld on any metal gas tank is to fill it up with argon, nitrogen, carbon dioxide or any other noble gas, depending on what you have around. Some people run a hose from a running engine's exhaust into the tank while they weld to prevent explosion. Water can work if you have a decent welding machine, but it tends to cool the weld too much when welding aluminum. A decent weldor can compensate for this, if they need to.

even I knew that
how much for the bread van??!!!
Too late now but you could have cut a vent in the filler neck😂😂😂😂😂
Hector bring a whole new dynamic to the videos dont ever stop I'm loving it.
Damn Sean's an artist when it comes to metal. It's really impressive.
Hillbilly schools us on tire repair.
But apparently Hillbilly doesn't know the difference between a valve stem and a valve core. @randyhome1544
Sean---you're the artist! (Could feel your pain when Demri suggested getting a new tank.)😅

@@billb412Take it easy Francis!!
Viva, Hector! Hillbilly and Hector teaching each other their language is freakin hilarious!
Hard agree.
Why are you working on the Bread Truck? You should be giving Whiskers some love doncha think?
Don't you listen? The bread van is scheduled to be used camping in a month ?
@@delbutler885 In a month, they are going to need Whiskers to recover the Bread Truck😄
Sean and the crew are doing a banging good job,,Thank goodness for Hector for helping and sharing a laugh..
Know it has been said a bunch, but Sean is a great addition to the team. And Hector is a hoot.
I think Hector speaks perfect English, he just likes messing with Hillbilly.
He did say that one video

Shawn is an ARTIST!

It's great to see the team getting it done!
Thank you all!
I hope the bread van delivers!
But no hot rolls, please. We are still sad about the scrapes from the rocks.
You both should be a double-act! Very droll indeed!
That was a good cover Robby, protecting Demri’s head . Slowly but surely. 🤙😎
1:40 - Honestly, if the zombie apocalypse hit today, I’m riding shotgun in this van! Who’s with me? 💪🚐
Robby you have an Amazing Team!!! The way they all work together and respect you speaks volumes about your Leadership sir.
Hillbilly = beast.
Next T- shirt… I would buy one
Hector is the best.

Always great to see The Boss. Enjoyed watching Hillbilly and the crew. Expertly watched.
Hector is becoming my favorite dude now 😂
Is cool to see Hector & Hillbilly act like brothers 😂
The attention to detail that went into the bread van is amazing. It had to be the best looking build
Let me state the obvious... Sean's skills are amazing.
Sean is a star, and so is Hector! Actually everyone on the Layton team is a star in their own way!
Hector's awesome .
When’s Hillbilly gonna get that Hector understands perfectly
i think thats just work place banter
@@Hootman865 I know, right?

Sean.... "Pull it out and I'll weld it"... Sean will fill tank with inert gas(argon) before welding to avoid boom!!!
Put dry ice in your tank. It'll push any vapors out then.Weld it dry ice is heavier than the gas vapors. It'll push all the gas papers out
Hector has been a great addition to your channel.
Great tyre fitting don’t forget you have added weight with the patch so it will need a rebalancing when refitting
Awesome video Robby
In the 1970s I worked in a welding shop. We ran exhaust hose into the fuel tank and welded it. Without oxygen there is no KaBoom!
That's crazy.
Great job guys. Thank you 😊
Hector is a good guy. And funny too.
hillbilly is the man!
Twin sticks your gonna love the way it works. So much more depends and works so much better

When Demri dropped the bomb at the end the and Sean started laughing, gold.
Hector is quickly becoming my favorite person on the show. It looks like Saun is thankful someone else takes the camera time! haha
Welding on gas tanks, simply run an exhaust hose into the tank, we do it all the time.
Hahahaha!!! Robbie used his orange love glove on the boss!!!
You guys are great!!!
All you have to do is purge it with shielding gas after you rinse it. And BTW, Sean is a god. That console is amazing!
I love the bread van. It is lee git!!!

Looking at all your builds..I can hardly wait to see king Fred done then the Ole antique tow truck
Hector always makes this old man laugh, I am glad he has become a regular on the show.
And sometimes I feel like Hector speaks better English than hillbilly.😅
16:20 "Hello, Mr. George? How much you pay for the new guy?
Twenty bucks? No. Too much money." LOL! 😄
You put dry ice in the tank. The evaporation is carbon dioxide. It'll displace the air, and you can weld on it safely
Looks like the bread van had a baby!

Damn Sean outstanding work brother
Sean,Shon, Shawn looked so disapproving at those penny stacks..😂
Is there a pressure relief on the transfer case as you add more oil to it?
Where’s the CC option? I need it to understand Hillbilly. 😄

Dang Shawn that looks nice
You just run your exhaust into the tank when it's empty the heat and fumes from exhaust will neutralizer the gas fumes
I'm way up notrth in BC and it hasn't even threatened to snow yet. The snow line is way above 3000f.
I’ve seen filling the gas tank with exhaust gas. Run a hose from the exhaust into to filler and fill the tank with exhaust gas.
