I just love the familiarity I’ve come to enjoy in your voice, Greg Wagland; your work is exceptional and most engaging to my imagination, I am so grateful. Blessings to you, & yours, good Sir!📚📖📮🆙🌐💙📬🪭🎁
Perfectly put! Greg, your superb gift transforms us directly into the tale. And then...we remember...it is you doing the spot on inflection, the voice of each character and the air of curiosity in the air! It transforms us. Thank you. Each time finish another, we rub our hands together in anticipation for the evening time. Like getting a wonderful text from a grand friend!
Whenever one has been away for awhile, listening to this and that on librivox, one feels like coming home to the very heart of the art of reading. Ah, mr. Wagland, Sir, thank you so much for regaling us with the precious fruits of your work!
I've always loved this story, being something of a Boulnois myself. Content in my oen little wrld of blissful underachievement, at least in some ways. I even pretended to be the "housesitter" at my own front door on one occasion (press prying into the private life of one of my neighbours!), for I was young at the time. In subsequent years I would have told them where their hook could be slung! Ha! I really enjoy these Father Brown narrations. He's such an endearing character. I went to an RC primary school and when we hit the age of 11 we were allowed to read the Father Brown books if deemed suitably mature. I devoured them!
This story is a classic example of Chesterton's wit and wisdom. The plot is engrossing and thought-provoking, and the narration enhances the experience, making it a must-listen for fans of classic detective stories.Thank you!
Your reading, as always Mr. Wagland, is excellent. Some Father Brown stories drag along until I’m ready to throw something! But this one clips along at a fine pace. I suffered no pangs listening till the end at one sitting.
It's always a great day when there is a new Greg Wagland on my TH-cam home page! I noticed the omissions from _The Wisdom of Father Brown_ ..... At least one of which I find entirely justifiable .....
So wonderfully read, Greg. I also prefer more ACD. Chesterton's prose feels fussy to me, yet more flat than expressive. That "Green Flag" by ACD was a corker. On the other, your reading/acting talent makes even Chesterton interesting.
This was satisfying and the "pot..." Was a lot to deal with as you mentioned. Its nice to hear your reactions and salutations at the end. Wish you had one every day. Is this channel your primary business? Is it the best way to support your art?
I'm going through father Brown withdrawals 😂 Hopefully a new one or really any story you wish to read, will come out soon 😊..I'll be waiting patiently.
Hey Greg, I was listening to your wonderful narration of The Hound of The Baskervilles, and I couldn't help but wonder why no ads played prior to the video. I played a few other videos on your channel and it was evident that that was not an isolated incident. To get to the crux of my question, has TH-cam disabled ads on your channel? If so, do you have other means of earning money?
This channel maintains the exception to the advertising rule; however, giving a little as a THANK$! can make a difference in keeping the stories clear of interruptions- just a little something to keep in mind, these folk deserve to have their time, energy, talents, literary wisdom, & dramatic arts acknowledged with financial renumeration, so having two ads prior to the start of the story & at the end is crediting where credit is due. There are other opportunities for AMSR Sleep Apps/Podcasts for a non-ad experience; though, I personally credit this channel with helping save my sanity & that is priceless! 🕊️🌎🌏🌏🧿📚📖💙
Well, it’s all here on this channel - all the Conan Doyle Sherlock anyway. I fear there may be no surprise additions - a jar full of manuscripts like the Dead Sea Scrolls 😅
If there is anyway I can convince you to read all kinds of other stories like the grim tales or alice in wonderland original tales do tell me and I will love you forever ❤
Around again, bc, it is a rather good one, isn't it? A very strange one, too, I think, starting with the inexplicably spooky walk up to the castle grounds and then the sudden and absolute abandonment of the figure with whom we'd entered the story. I deeply like the idea of a shallow poser so vexed by indifference of a deep thinker that he'd kill himself out of sheer desperation - even the attempt to blame the professor seeming to have been an afterthought.
It's been too long, GW. Why does a month without a new story feel like a year? Of course, you have a busy life and real acting jobs outside of your TH-cam following. We're trying to be patient, but we can quote Sherlock Holmes and Father Brown from memory now. You are missed. 🩵
Will you do more Sherlock Holmes stories? I know you have done all from Canon of Doyle and I have heard them all so many times :). But there are so many other great ones? (None close to Mr. Doyle himself) but still good? And your voice will obviously make them great!
Some of the later ones from Robert Lancelyn-Green's anthology (Penguin) are worthwhile. I can't stand Bret Harte's satirical take, though. I'm in the middle of writing my second Holmes adventure. It's not an easy thing to do.

I like the portrayal of Boulnois so content with his life. This is a very interesting story. Thank you to the writer and the narrator.
Glad you enjoyed it!

Late checkout available on audible plus narrated by Greg is a cracking yarn cheers mr wagland
Oh yes. I'd forgotten about Late Checkout.

Really hope Greg is doing okay! Miss the readings, but there's plenty to catch up on so I'm good there. Just hoping there's more at some point.
Yes. I’m still here. Resuming shortly.
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 Thank Greg!
Cheers DS.
One of my favorites!
Good to hear there are lots of Father B fans out there!
Lovely! I enjoy the quietness of your Father Brown, subtle yet complex! Thank you!
Many thanks!
Thank you - I know I've read the story, but can't remember anything beyond the title. So glad you'll remind me. Goodnight, and sleep tight all. ❤
Good night Lemma!
Loved it .Both your voice and the story. ❤
Thank you!! Best wishes.
Another wonderful job by the awesome Greg wagland ❤
Thank you, Barry! Cheers! Does the world not have enough warnings!
Wonderful story, powerful reading. And it was lovely to hear your thoughts at the end. Thank you for another superb narration.
Thank you for listening and your kind comments.
Ha that was a good one! Thanks Greg!
Glad you enjoyed it, J.
Heck yeah, my favorite notification!
Cheers, Shoshana.
Boulnois, what a great one to have to say a dozen times. Really enjoyed this one three times over. TY for your efforts, Greg.
Mahe Ohna ✌️ Favour All
Many thanks!
1st time hearing a father brown story cheers sir
Hope you enjoyed it!
...and my day just got an upgrade 😊
And a window seat?
With a scotch and slippers..
It sounds to me as though Sherlock Holmes is reading this story to me, as I’m so used to your voice as Holmes now!
This is the definitive Holmes voice for me.
I can’t listen to anyone else narrating Sherlock Holmes now.
Fabulous, thank you for describing how you too enjoyed GKC's Fatber Brown story. Your reading elevates the story.
A tad ‘sizeist’? 😂
Marvellous ❤
Catastrophism is a likely theory for the era when this was written.! Many theories were in contention many of which seem odd now
Consensus don't make it true. Is that controversial?
Merry Christmas Beautiful Voice Man! 🎅 Have a happy holiday ❤ LOVE R.P. 😊
You too, RP! Love and peace
His descriptions of journalism are so 😂 and they aged so well 😁
Yes, I thought that! Nothing new under the sun.
I just looked at your channel yesterday for a new video! Yay another Father Brown 😊 Tysm!
Thanks for listening, MsM
Fascinating that "jumped the shark" was in use sixty years before "Happy Days".
Unfortunately it’s’ jumped the shock but I think I managed to subconsciously slide it in the Fonz direction.
There is something very sweet about this story, and the two people who are in love!
Excellent rendition! Thank you so much for the reading!
Thanks for listening - glad you enjoyed it
Congrats, Captain. Greg. 130k followers!
I feel Hugh Grant is reading Father Brown stories for me 😄 I love it !!
Hugh Grant?
Hope you’re doing well! Excited for the next story
I am! -ish!!
Catastrophism . I am glad to find it explained . One of those odd Oxford theories of the time.
There’s a lot of them about, not just in ye olden dayes!
Also read The Idea of Prehistory by Glyn Daniel. ( an archaeologist of great fame) it can be found online now.
So wonderfully read, Greg. I also prefer more ACD. Chesterton's prose feels fussy to me, yet more flat than expressive. That "Green Flag" by ACD was a corker. On the other, your reading/acting talent makes even Chesterton interesting.

Much appreciated! Yes. There’s a Magpie Audio page on buy me a coffee you might search out? Or a Patreon account?
I would so love for you to read Dracula. I've already listened to a few iterations but I'm so sure you'd do a more splendid job of it
Bravo! One of my favorite Chesterton stories.
Mine too!
Love... Thank You! ❤
Thank you, KiKi

So will I.
I read these stories long ago when I was little. 12 or 13 probably. I had forgotten how much fun they are.
I borrowed them from the public library.
Me too, similar
Extraordinary ...
Yes!
nice
Thanks
Hey Greg
Hey!!
Pretty sure you just like saying Boulnois, and I like hearing you say it. As always, excellent job. 👌

No ads except beginning and end.

I dont trust Chesterton. Subtle conflicts about who he supposedly was and his writing dont add up. I feel like he's a spy or something.
Said this long ago! No Thank You to any catholic influence! I could simple click away BUT that is not what I do!
It isn't! All the best!
