- In this session, ace film director, Vishal Bhardwaj, spoke at length about his love for Urdu and its relevance in his life and cinema.
He read some of his poetry from his book 'Nude' and also shared a few anecdotes from his interactions with the famous poet Bashir Badr.

The Jashn-e-Rekhta is an annual three-day festival celebrating Urdu language, literature and culture. Held every year in New Delhi, this festival is free for all and aims to bring together people from different backgrounds, communities and beliefs as well as those who share a love for Urdu.

Urdu is alive and kicking. It is even evolving. The Nastaliq script is not everything about Urdu. Only the purists who can't see the progression of time would say that Urdu is dead.
