  • “I made the, as it turned out, rather fatal error of saying the words Rishi and Sunak in the same sentence.”
Outgoing Conservative MP Edward Timpson looks back on how relations with Liz Truss soured, and tells Matt Chorley why he won't be returning to the Timpson family business after leaving parliament.

All the intelligent Tories got chucked out for opposing Brexit. What was left after 2019 were the dregs...

However he spins it, it all smacks of "rat leaving a sinking ship". Didn't hear much from him over the many schools related debacles.

Gosh, the comparison between his reasonable, affable demeanour and the carnage that schools have been experiencing for so many years. This guy talks a good fight!!

Listening to him talk you would think he’d done some good stuff. Then you look at what is actually happening for SEN kids, capacity in schools, teacher retention and recruitment and you realise he achieved nothing. If anything he entrenched the problems into the system.
These people really are absolutely deluded about what peoples lives are actually like.

A good chap for a Tory MP - we do not have to hate people who have different political view's - like Winnie the Pooh + Tigger after Brexit they went down the pub and got plastered as friends and remained friends the next day / month etc 👍

Look at his actual record, Winnie the Pooh should be tipping a pint over his head.

Not my political persuasion but this was an interesting listen and a thoughtful interviewee.
