You really should re-word the title of this video. It is very deceptive. I'm telling you rather than reporting it-- that is one of the violations that can be reported. The current title implies this is about one incident in which a new scientific discovery is made. Rather, it is actually 15 different stories about Everest.
To answer the question, I actively trained and tried to raise the money to Climb Everest In 1980, but the other members of my group were avid Triathletes, with body fat levels of about 6%, and refused to deviate from that level, so I declined to lead them. The “Death Zone” is mentioned over and over in the narration, without explanation, so I will explain. Once you get to a certain altitude, the human body can no longer absorb nutrition from ANY KIND OF FOOD!!! Even intravenous nutrition cannot be metabolized, and the body MUST burn fat for energy. That is the Death Zone, and it’s boundary is different for every individual. It begins at about 16,000 feet for unacclimatized people, but no one can metabolize nutrients above about 22,000 feet. So, you can rest in the Death Zone, but you cannot heal from an injury, and every moment you spend there your body is eating itself, and you will starve to death eventually. The lower your percentage of body fat, the quicker you die. It’s that simple.
dude..the death zone refers to oxygen pressure being too low for human survival without supplementary oxygen...agreed to be around 26,000 feet...if you cant breath you die...it has NOTHING to do with food ........except if you cant breath you probably cant chew and swallow...
He failed to mention the reason the Sherpa’s attacked. It was because after a earthquake or landslide, some of those climbers pillaged a village that was hit by the earthquake. And it was the female climber who stopped it.
@@kimmccabe1422 no. It was a group of climbers who paid to go up Mount Everest. It was as they were trying to get to safety. One of the climbers found a box with (if I remember correctly) coins, bills, and helped himself.
I *_dreamed_* of climbing Everest back in the late '70s and early '80s. I read books about the exploits of Reinhold Messner, Peter Habler, Rick Ridgeway, Chris Bonington, Edmond Hillary and others. It was a fascinating dream.
So what was the new discovery on Mount Everest that terrified scientists? We never did find out. This video would have more accurately titled "Top 15 scary new finds on Mount Everest." That at least would have been correct.
Krakauer’s book differs markedly from his Outside Magazine article published immediately after the climb, and partially written during the climb. Mountain Guide Anatoli Boukriev’s book, The Climb, tells a somewhat different story, as do other significant members of the party, as will happen any time a group of people are traumatized by a tragic event seen from different perspectives. And, yes, I know that recent editions of Anatoli’s book spell his last name differently, and had to alter the title to avoid copyright difficulties after his death on K2.
I admire the courage n determination of these explorers… I managed Kilimanjaro in Africa…. No way would I ever dream or imagine trying Everest… I did visit ladakh
So what are you saying? He was the only guy that flew a plane, climb high mountains, and wore high heels? Can't a guy just relax and feel pretty after a hard days work?
“As dense as the mountain air”? Mountain air is thin and why oxygen is needed. The climbers left on the mountain are there because that is what they wanted.
It's not really enigmatic, it's simply hypoxia, with an addled brain due to low oxygen, the same thing often happens to people who are dying, they see family members near or see images of those who have died some time before, or there is an unknown person who is visible to them; it's not at all unusual in a low-oxygen situation.
It almost slipped by when the filmaker included images of Russia, China, and Nepal while talking about Yetis. In the quickly placed and removed graphic china's flag was depicted over the shape of the continental United States.
That’s not the answer. That would destroy the people that live on the tourists dollar. India needs to implement restrictions and regulations like Tibet.
I haven’t read the comments so it’s possible you’ve been enlightened already, BUT, the reason the first guy was thought to have worked in a ladies’ shop and had become a “cross dresser” as a result. WRONG! Mr Wilson was using a way of keeping the core body temp warmer. My late husband did the same every year in hunting season. ☺️
They should be required to come back with their stuff and waste and show proof at checkpoints in and out. If not, they should be fined or jailed. Perhaps also require licenses to climb, or set up a lottery to limit the number of climbers.
It's not a well known fact that silk stockings are very warm in cold weather. In the early 20th century if you did not have any good cold weather gear for your legs at least, then men often borrowed the wives silk stockings to help keep warm. Strange? Yes, but they worked. Quite often causing them to repeat it again when they were going back out into the cold. It's not well advertised, as men in silk stockings was not something that they wanted known. But many hunters of the time knew of it, and some people actually used them. But only during cold winter hunting trips! Am I advocating this nowadays? No, it's just food for thought!
Rather thorough documentary. 2-changes might improve it: This statement doesn't seem to mean what the commentator means: "...leaving a mystery as dense as the mountain air." The problem? High elevation air is not dense. The gas particles are far apart. The other problem is that speaking of events on Earth prior to keeping records cannot be proven. So, the wording needs to include the idea that "Scientists believe..." instead of words like "It happened..." Fossils found on the mountain could be a result of a great flood prior to the mountain being particularly high up, etc..
It is a human feature to be attracted to what is nearly impossible and to try to push their limits. But it is not necessary for me… I live for my children… and a walk in nature is enough for me.
They should ban climbing unless people pay REALLY good money so that there is funding for cleaning up the dump yard that climbers have made of it. That said, corruption in these places is not uncommon so a lot of the money would possibly be mismanaged, misspent or disappear. ;)
I'd like to think the third man syndrome feeling they have are the people who lost their lives on the mountain. The ones who remain on the mountain and haven't moved on from this lifetime, making sure they do everything they couldn't alive. It's a peaceful thing to think even though I know it's lack of oxygen/the body decided survival was the best option between fight or flight.
Seemed to name the guy with green boots with certainty but its not certain who green boots actually is. Its thought it could be a couple of people but no one knows for sure. The only reason its thought to be one of two persons is because the green boots were made by a Pakistani company in which were worn by two different persons that never returned 😢
This first guy took off in a Fairy Engineering Swordfish armed with a torpedoe? What did he intend to do? Sink it? Come on there has got to be more relevant clips you could use!
I honestly have no idea what people who want to get to the top off Everest are thinking, and for me personally , news of anybody getting to the top off any mountain , just makes me yawn.

What do these people need psychologically that they’re not getting that you’ve got to climb that high to get a thrill? Try Jesus!
Because Everest is real , God belief is delusional

It was the new growth of vegetation on everest because of warming temps and melting of glaciers
Faster melt than expected
👍🏿
Had thought of climbing Mt. Everest when I was young. Intriguing even then and today.
Not enough air equals hallucinating.
I've been addicted to Everest since Krakauers book Into thin air. I don't much like the cold but love to observe.
Great page turner!! I couldn’t put it down!
Me too! I love that book!
Krakauer’s book differs markedly from his Outside Magazine article published immediately after the climb, and partially written during the climb. 16:48 "leaving behind a mystery as dense as the mountain air".. but I thought the mountain air was thin..? Lol
The writers are lousy. So flowery when they could just say it.
Great info, mount Kailash is the abode of Lord Shiva🙏
If so I am sure Kali is their too

Green boots has been removed from the mountain
Ao what part of this "TERRIFIES Scientists!" ???
Right?
I was wondering that too.
Possibly the Yeti . 🤷♂️
Our inability to accept the command of 'Don't go there, it's dangerous🤯,' it really is a HereIDaretry thing.🤗🙃
What about that terrifies scientists ?
At 14:16 your map is slightly off. The map you use for China is actually a map of the United States
Russia doesn't actually include Mongolia or some former Soviet republics, and its flag has a white band at the top.
Thanks. You both saved me some time.
Reaching the summit in high heels and lingerie sounds like a Monty Python sketch.
So what are you saying? He was the only guy that flew a plane, climb high mountains, and wore high heels? Can't a guy just relax and feel pretty after a hard days work?
They retrieved green boots. He is no longer there.

It's a bad video, random clips, bad narration,, and inaccurate too.

Sad really that Mount Everest has a bad name as the deaths of a lot of people. I think it's beautiful well ive never seen it in real life.
I pray to everyone for return to safe
I blame this on the Greed of the government

Very limited oxygen would created hallucinations,so it wouldn’t be surprising for climbers to see or believe in such effects
Nope, happy to stay in the valleys!
The best!
Btw Tenzing Norgay's name comes first.
THEN Edmund Hillary.
You gave him a title, but that old guy couldn't have made it without Tenzing.

Many of these things can be accounted to oxygen deprivation. Even with canned oxygen, you can still hallucinate.

Sounds like a lot of fun. Surprised more people don’t try it
i agree..-sick of all the idiots thinking their something special by getting their asses dragged up the mountain by sherpas
The country is making a ton of money from the climbers. But I think it should come to a halt !
Does The Yeti Really Exist? Maybe, So that would also mean that maybe Bigfoot or Sasquatch may Exist?
One would think the Yeti would be self-sufficient for food up there. Is it vegetarian?
People should have to take their waste with them. If they don’t do it fine them heavily.
