Let me know what you would use a homemade fuel tank for! *20 Grinding Disc* - amzn.to/2JZ8sNN *1949 Chevy Pickup t-shirt* - teespring.com/classic-1949-pickup-shirt
i've been thinking of something like this for a t-bucket project and this video was an inspiration, thanks! oh, and that wee face popping up just made my day.
That was pretty slick and you made it look so easy, but I'm guessing you've done that more than once ;-) All that being said, the best part was the "pop-up Henry bobble-head" in the window! Great addition to the ol' 49 ;-D
I have not found Rustoleum paint to be resistant to Gasoline. The paint delaminated around the filler from overfilling or spilling on last gas tank I painted with Rustoleum.
that good idea clever way to save money truck look so good you done good job to get it back on the rood is there much to do look forward to your next video
Flap disks are super handy. I have one angle grinder that has one on all the time. I'll have to check out that brand you recommend. Thanks and good job!
Hey thanks Luke. Having more than One grinder is super handy. I get pretty annoyed switching back and forth between different dics on the same grinder!
i hope you cleaned out the fuel cell after the grinding and plasma the last thing you need is bits of metal in it but great video and great job hugssssssss from Ontario Canada
I think this is a great idea! The only problem I can see is it is a steel tank. I have concerns about it rusting inside. What are your plans if that happen?
I want to make a fuel tank for my club car with a predator engine. Would this need a fuel pump, or would the carburetor pull the fuel without a pump? I don't know much about these things, but I'm trying to learn 😅
Well you'll have to go back and watch the *first drive* video, it explains it there. But the factory tank was pretty nasty. So I built a temporary fuel tank
Definitely a bad idea to drain out the bottom. It's actually illegal for a car manufacturer or commercial vehicle. Make a feed line that drops in from like a bulkhead fitting or something. Then an aluminum tubing with a flared fitting on one end.
I thought this was a video on how to use an air tank to make a fuel cell not a gas tank. I'm looking to make a hydrogen/oxygen fuel cell using a fire extinguisher tank that is metal along with a down steam that is metal but the cap would insulate the down steam from the tank this way the gases produced by the electrolysis is done inside that tank in turn capturing the gases inside the tank for easy storage. This was not what I was looking for....
How's this gas tank been working out for you? Has anyone expressed any concerns about gravity feeding? I want to do the same tank for my Suzuki Samurai but wasn't sure if it's ok to feed fuel out the bottom...
I'm not gonna spend a $100 on a fuel cell (aluminum that won't rust)from summit racing but I have a couple Thousand dollars worth of tools including a plasma cutter. Laughable 😏

Used the same tank for my I H tractor.
@@paulbrooks2024 that's awesome. Thanks for letting me know!

@@Ecosse57 thanks for the great feedback 😀👍🏻
There's a tank liner that can be poured in there and sloshed around to coat the inside to prevent rust...
Nice tip! Plus I dig your side-kick! ...Newk from Kentucky
Thanks Newk!
Nice work, Homemade and cheaper, win-win.
Hey thanks John
sweet project and sponsor sticker 👊
Lol thanks
Loving the build it yourself (DIY) fuel cell. That's awesome!
Outstanding!👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👍

I really enjoy fabrication. And that little Pop-up Henry is my *fabricator apprentice* lol
Nice video! Thinking about doing this and putting some off road diesel in it for my truck box

Thanks mate. Hope you are good David!
Sweet modification! Just make your own fuel tank.🙌
Thanks! 👍
As a shafer I approve
same here cousin 👊

I sure did clean it out Tammy. Thanks for looking out for me though! 😀😀😀

It's been two years, so far, so good 👍🏼
if it rusts and starts to leak just make another one for that price
No return line, I’m assuming your timing a splitter in the fuel rail
It's carbureted, no need for a return line.
So cool wish I had a gas gage
Did you have to put a fuel pressure regulator on since it's gravity fed. Or can the mechanical fuel pump handle gravity fed?
Mechanical pump handled it fine
Awesome, thanks

A carb won't pull. Needs to be gravity fed, of low pressure fuel pump. A vacuum pulse fuel pump would do well on that setup
Should coat the inside of the tank so it won't start rusting from condensation
I never had a problem with rusting.
Impressive! Take my sub 👍🏻
Thanks!
That is a cute video!!!
Thanks Betty 😀
Your welcome Fam Alarm!!
Im missing something you put the gas tank in the bed of the truck?
Well you'll have to go back and watch the *first drive* video, it explains it there. But the factory tank was pretty nasty. So I built a temporary fuel tank
Can I use a truck gas tank for diesel?
The tank doesn't care what fuel you put in it...
They $60 now. Stupid inflation…
I noticed when I went looking for one, I just ended up buying a 7 gallon air tank from fb market for $20

BAD idea
Great idea, I assume the cap is vented?
Yes the cap is vented. Came off of an old kabota skid loader tank.
Perfect, no need to add a vent to the tank. 👍🏻
Hi Henry!
🖐🖐😀
And if someone doesn't own a plasma cutter?
-Torch.
-grinder with cutoff blade.
-drill several holes in a circle.
Plenty of ways..
I'm assuming that gas cap is vented...
Your assumption is correct
@@FarmAlarm haw many gallons does that tank hold?
how you deal with gasoline pressure gases?
Vented fill cap
How many gallons does it hold?
11 gallons
Outstanding job... well documented. However the words "Fuel Cell" have lost all meaning.. Thumbs up however. Cheers!
It could had been cheaper to get a air tank from an scrap yard.
