Hi lucas! i got a question, if i want to reveal some text but i need the brush in different sizes do i need to make another stroke effect? thx also your tutorial is super cool
Hey! Sadly you can't really do that with the stroke effect as far as I'm concerned, animating the brush width would affect the whole artwork at once. Creating multiple stroke ffects is also an option, but it would be a bit of a cumbersome Would you mind sharing the use case you would need that for? One way to solve, if you have a very complex shape or font, would be to create individual masks instead of strokes, it takes work, but it would give you loads of flexibility. Drawing a shape layer and using that as a matte would also be possible, and less time consuming than what I mentioned previously. Thanks for the kind words!
Hey ! thx for ur tuto ! i got a trouble, when i want to set the expression on the puppet, i alt+click on my stopwatch , but how can i show the amp ? the frequency etc... all the setup for the expression ? thx again :)
Glad it served you well Max! TO edit the expression simply click on the text and it will let you edit it, then use your scroll wheel to scroll through the expression (or you could use the keyboard arrows for that too), hope that works for you and any other questions feel free to ask
Hey Atakan! To do that you can create a shape layer, and draw a path with the desired color and thickness. Open your shape layer properties, then go to "Add:" and pick "Trim Paths", lower your "End" value to 10%, and animate your Offset value to move the shape based on the path drawn. To taper the shape, open the "Stroke" properties in your shape layer, then go to "Taper" and play with the values to give it the shape you want. Hope that works well for you!
Hi, Lucas I tried this text effect on illustrator composition as you have shown and it worked. But when I create shapes from layers and use Puppet Pin Tool and apply bounce expression. The bounce expression is not working. Can you please suggest how can we use bounce expression on shape layers?
Hey Mubashar! It should work on shape layers as well. Make sure you created two keyframes, that you applied the expression on the puppet position and that the amplitude value is high enough. If that still doesn't work, feel free to e-mail me at Lucas.malaquias.souza@gmail.com with your After Effects project files.
Hey man! I've loved your tutorial. But there's a problem. When i use the bounce expresion the shapes bounces more than it's supposed to. Can you help me? (i'm sorry if you can't understand what i wrote, i speak spanish not english)
@@AlenFlashala ¡Hola! Happy to know you already found it out. Here's a basic explanation of each property: - amp = How strong the bounce is -freq = How many times per seconds it bounces - decay - For how long is bounces.
Hey! Are you talking about the bounce effect expression? Have you clicked on the stopwatch while holding the "alt" key on your keyboard? This will allow you to paste expressions!
Hey! Still here :) Do you mean a cursive font, something like that? This is more tricky, because the stroke effect has a fixed width, but here are a few solutions. - Try recreating the font/logo in Illustrator, make sure to create each line/stroke as a separate shape. Then you can either mask or use the stroke effect on those shapes to reveal your logo. -Or you could try using masks instead of the stroke effect, this might work depending on the logo, and you will have to use multiple masks, but it should still be possible. Does that make sense? 😊
For those of you that don't read the description. Go and copy bounce code for expression :D
He describes everything very clear. Amazing tutorial
Thank you, Mubashar!

Thanks Ammar!! Hope one day we can make it :)

Hey Lucas, are there any other technic to create something like a tapered stroke without using echo effect ?

Thanks I will check ok@@LucasMalaquias
Thanks for the suggestion. When I change the amplitude value it works also on the shape layer. Thanks again

Awesome! But I have a problem. That the expressions is not appering. Maybe because i use 2022 version. But do you know the solution

@@LucasMalaquias ohh sorry i didn't notice that i need to copy the expression from you. Thx
Hopefully you still react. Cause I'm trying your tutorial and I have a logo with where letters go through each other. How do i do this?

@@LucasMalaquias Thanks. But i guess i already fixed it and my logo animation looks awesome now
Good tutorial. but what font do you use?
Thanks! The font is called "Nathan Regular", it's available on Dafont, for free.
Nice

Lower the bass on your mic output, it's hard to understand what you are saying.
