I appreciate how you compared the same ink and same writing sample. I find too many people make unfair comparisons with too many different variables. I imagine Jinhao doesn't have as well of flow as TWSBI or Sailor to produce the muted, lighter tones. It's not bad for me, but just a matter of preference. I think if somebody had too dark of ink or too light, they can choose the pen to suit the effect they want. Thank you for this video! 😊

I have a few Jinhao 82s and I really like them.
The difference in ink color was very interesting.
This was very thorough and helpful. Thank you.

Thanks for your review. I saw many JH82 pen reviews but because they used different inks I didn't know there would be color variations until I got mine. I noticed the black ink I always use (waterman) looks very different on the Pilot VP and on the JH82, even though they're both F and the flows are very similar. The JH82 shows a purple undertone and the Pilot is more saturated and I can't see any purple undertones with it. I did some research but couldn't find an explanation. Perhaps it's the golden coat JH82 used on their nibs causing some sort of reaction with the inks, I don't know. I love how they write (not too smooth, not too sharp), but the variation on my black ink is something I don't like. I like black inks to look black, not greyish purple. I even did the test with a Kaweco and the only one showing the color variation is the JH82, it's intriguing.

Thanks for watching my video. Yeah. I don’t know either. I just noticed that my Jinhao pens write paler than other pens. I don’t know what it is about the nib that makes the pen do that. I am also intrigued by it so hopefully there’s someone who can explain better as to why.

I like how you modified the color schemes of your pens. Nice job on the writing comparison.

Thank you! Glad you appreciate the comparison. I thought it is interesting to see their differences . I was surprised by that. I was writing with my Jinhao 82 and found it to be really pale so I thought I’ll compare how they write using the same ink.

Hi Anna - I‘m new to your channel. I currently have 5 Jinhao 82s with a F nib and 3 on the way (1 fude, 2 M nibs). They are fun and great to take out and about or for gifting to curious friends.Thank you for the comparison and video. I do think that feed and nib can be switched on the Jinhao 82s, but I haven’t done it yet.
I do think that due to oxidation and evaporation, ink in pens becomes „more concentrated/saturated“ over time. The same thing happens to cartridges because plastic is semipermeable, whereas glass isn’t.
