Looks like a Hyundai Kona
I drove the new Equinox EV yesterday and it was impressive, smooth and quiet. This was the 3RS FWD. It could use a little more power but it was OK. I liked the styling exterior and especially interior, much much better looking than a Tesla.
+500 points for not having the interior look like a spaceship and with proper HVAC controls! I have no doubt that when I eventually buy an EV, it will be from one of the well-known automakers and not one of the EV startups.
And it's FWD! Very nice! So even the low trims will be at least tolerable in snowy weather.
Nice! EV owner for 6 years minimal maintenance, Zero gas, smog check, tires in great shape, no oil changes, zero brake wear. Drive 80 miles per day. Charge at home. Have a Toyota hybrid for trips above 800 miles, maybe 1 to 2 times per year. Love my EV.
Where did you get the $27k price? That’s $34.5k, pre-rebate. Chevy website states starting at $41.9k.
They said 27k after the $7500 incentive.
$27k for the 1lt base model not the RS that they’re showing acting like it’s $27k. The one in the video will be $45k minimum AFTER the 7500 tax credit so, pretty misleading. I doubt the 27k 1lt will have any worthwhile features as that’s just their guinea pig they’re using to advertise their nice new “cheap ev for the masses”
Finally an EV that doesn’t break the bank. 🎉
I guess but I don't really like how the price difference between the base model and the next level is like 7 grand.... Its really shady how if you want anything better than the base its going to be 40,000 dollars.... Normally people tend to get something in the middle.
@@ariescorner7655Unless you make well into the six figures (AGI of $150k if you file single, $300k married) you get $7500 off that price.
@@ariescorner7655 the Equinox EV makes a lot of sense for those that qualify for the $7,500 tax credit IMO
True and the interior is surprisingly nice
That's true & many people could buy it.
One thing I like about Chevrolet is the factor designed they put into it and I have cars wallpaper on my phone 📱
What did you just say???
For it being an EV it actually still feels normal inside which is good.
Its why I love it. If I want to transition to electric I'd like to do it with a car that looks familiar. Not a drastic change from a car to an iPad in my face.
@@juanzingarello4005yeah I agree, this is normal. You wouldn’t know it’s full electric by sitting on the inside
Looking good. Sharp design. Looks great in all black! Great job gents! You guys keep improving each day! Love the added humour Drew!
Thanks 😊
I see a price around 43k for base versions , tax credit 7 , so still 37k on road , how come 27k ?
Base versions aren’t available yet. If the vehicle you’re looking at is priced in the $40k’s that’s not a *base model* Equinox. I believe 2RS loaded is around $43k. 1LT trims should start arriving to dealers by end of the year.
@@G-Ratedthere is no 2Rs under $47k. The $43k is the 2LT
It’s a good looking ev, but I decided to get a 2018Chevy Volt for $19k, with leather seats, apple car play, heated seats etc. These new evs or hybrids cost close to 30k or more with no leather seats. The Volt is a fantastic car, this Blazer looks great as well.
Excellent video and happy Monday!
I’ve sold this EV to 4 people already. It has been their first EV experience and they all love it so far.
The combination of familiarity and innovation, packed into a slick looking vehicle really helps people transition what’s they learn what EV is about.
This one checks all my boxes. Love it and it’s my #1 contender for my first fully electric vehicle. Great job Chevrolet!
Great to hear. What were all the boxes it checked for you?
I love this car, I hope they will be available soon.
They are already hitting the dealerships for the higher end models, cheaper ones in the fall
I own one. Check your dealer!
@@chrisjacobs7857 How do you like it so far? It looks great
@chrisjacobs7857 where are you located? I put a down-payment at my local dealer back in February and they told me it will be here on or before May 22nd and when I called last week they told me it's been pushed back till.June 3rd or sometime in June. I'm in NJ
@@jayswift3601 I'm over on the other coast in Seattle, no sign of them yet, I'm probably going to wait for the new 2025/6 Bolt at this point.
Where are they for 28k? I just built one online and the least expensive trim was 35k after the 7500.00 tax credit
Not too shabby Chevy
Thanks for the good overview
As always a very helpful review. Looking forward to the road test!
Thanks!
@@CarConfections As much as I like the look of the 21 inch wheels, I am curious at how it will affect the range compared to the 19 inch. I wish Chevy gave that option instead of forcing the 21 inch on those upper trim levels.
It’s very nice! I like it! It’s a great price!!
Looks sweet. Gonna be a winner in the segment. Thx for the video. I enjoyed watching.
I love your videos. I heard this car has three different engine sounds you can choose from. If so, would you please include it in your test drive video? I can’t wait to see it.
Do you have measurements between the roof rails in front and the back ?
Marvelous video guys & I might buy this EV.
Great looking car! Looking forward to you guys driving it and giving us your thoughts. Another great review by you guys!!!
Thank you, friend!
Can you buy a carlink device or similar to get CarPlay?
Great review
Any news when the Cadillac Optiq will be available? Thanks for your review, I subscribed.
Welcome to the Car Confections family! We have lots of info to share about the OPTIQ actually TODAY at Noon Eastern time
Just looking at size and overall look, it seems so similar to the Blazer EV. What's the purpose of having two types and models so similar within one brand?
Does it have a heat pump?
Yes
The detailed cargo dimension measurements alone earned you a sub!
Welcome to the Car Confections family!
I don’t like Evs, this one is the first one that I like it ! Chevy did a great job 👏🏻
How is it cheaper than the nissan leaf? It looks like its 40k.
It's $28k Pay attention
@@rcpmac its cheaper than a nissan leaf thats my point
Great video.
Is there anyway to play apple music on your phone in this car?
Thanks
Thanks! For now, you would have to use the traditional Bluetooth audio connection and start Apple music on your phone
Looks awesome
Sooo.. the "Legacy Auto makers" are pretty much alive then? This EV seems to have a lot of potential
This was the car I was waiting for, let's see how it drives and if Chevy is serious about EV
I've never bought a GM product but this is unusually sharp and restrained wrt its design. Nice.
Great looking EV❤
This looks nice and solid. I love the shape it seems very well balanced and easy to drive. Nice job Chevrolet !
Beautifully done. A 10 for.GM and the all, "new Equinox"!!!
Do the rear brake light/turn signal light combination change colors from red to/from amber? In this video they look like they do but it could be a camera effect.
They are red only
@@CarConfections Thanks. I wish they were amber :(
Looks Great to me.
This should have debuted a year ago!
I'm curious how the headlamps will perform. I hope I'm wrong, but they don't look like they're very powerful.
Theyre recording during the day, so of course they look less bright than they will at night.
The model Equionx EV starts at $43,295, so after the tax credit, assuming you don't have local/state, it starts at $35,795
The only thing that stops me from getting one this weekend is that it can’t tow 2500 pounds. 😢 That’s the only thing I think they missed the mark on for me since a model Y can tow 3500. I was hoping for 2500 out of this. Oh well. I figured since the Blazer EV does not have a good row rating either unless you go for a RWD model.
Double-check on the Adaptive Cruise. It seems it is not available on the LT2 without buying the Super Cruise option for $2700.
If this doesn’t attract new EV buyers, I don’t know what will.
A US infrastructure that actually works for EV drivers is the answer... traveling cross-country in the US in an EV is an absolute NIGHTMARE... NO THANKS... EVs are only for daily commuters, once you need to go anywhere, you are quickly going to miss having a Gas or Hybrid vehicle, EV's add huge downtimes and detours to any cross-country trip... the US just isn't ready for EVs... the infrastructure isn't there.
@@wolfshanze5980 I saw a post on Reddit where someone asked if there are any households that are 100% EV. I was surprised at how many people said they were and they bragged about taking their EV's cross-country without any problems, and most didn't own Teslas. I don't think what you are saying is accurate anymore. I think the US has built out a good EV freeway infrastructure. I think the gap is with apartment dwellers and individuals that can't charge at home.
@@iseewoodYou're correct, it's not accurate for *most EV owners. There are still infrastructure issues for sure (e.g.Wyoming) but it's never stopped me from road tripping my EVs, and I've owned 5 different OEMs in the last 12 years. I currently have a Mustang Mach-E and it's a fantastic road tripper because it's really comfortable and can charge at literally EVERY charging station in the country including all Tesla superchargers.
I drove my Tesla 3500 miles, no problem.
@jim97405 it's simple math that people don't understand.
Gas pumps in America
Way more than chargers
Filling time vs charging time
Way shorter to fill than charge.
Can you drive across the country on an EV?
Yes.
Will it be a much shorter, faster and less delayed trip in a gas or hybrid vehicle than an EV?
Anyone who thinks an EV cross country trip is just as quick with fewer diversions is either a massive liar or completely delusional.
You can't argue hard facts.
Been seeing these on the roads in Los Angeles. They look much better in the lighter colors. Very good looking vehicle.
Great review. I hope I can manage to pick one up soon myself. This thing hits the range (over 300), charge (30 min or less), and price (under 36k) metrics for majority ev adoption. Just need to get the word out and GM to make enough of them .
I see starting at 41,900? Isn’t tax credit only 7,500?
The real $35K base ‘1LT’ trim comes out later, they just wanted the headline.
2LT is available now and 1LT is the base trim which will be available sometime before the end of the year to get you that lowest price
@@CarConfectionsand that’s assuming you qualify for the full tax credit?
@@MrOscar5690 If you don't qualify for the full tax credit, you are in a significantly higher income bracket than the buyers this car is intended for.
Also, the full tax credit is available only for SUVs having MSRPs less than $80K. Again, I don't think you have to worry when it comes to getting the full credit, at least upon launch.
Definitely a great car including the 100k mile warranty!
does the equinox have one pedal driving? Is it restricted by trim level?
Of course
Yes it does have it on all trims
Platform: GM BEV3
Related: Acura ZDX Buick Electra E Buick Electra E Cadillac Opti Chevrolet Blazer E Honda Prologue Cadillac Lyriq
BEV3 platform underpins all of *gm’s* two row EV crossovers. I still can’t believe they are sharing this platform with Honda. Honda must be paying *gm* well for this because Ultium is their most prized possession and what will keep them in a lead position.
When I watched the video and saw the car I though it was an Porsche Macaan V. But it was the Equinox. Nice job to GM for having a nice looking vehicle.
Wow Iam feeling like getting my son one for his first car❤
I wouldn't wish an EV on my child. Long charge times, detoured road trips because of no infrastructure for EVs... you finally get to a charging station, they're broken... long recharge times... why would anyone wish this on their child? You want to be nice to your child, get them a Hybrid or PHEV.
I use a bathroom, get coffee...charged!
Wished there were more footage of the vehicle in motion, without the info box covering the view of motion. 😕
Thanks for the feedback!
As a Tesla Model Y owner, this looks like a good option, though the model tested is about $41,000 before a tax credit.
Dealers have notoriously adding markups, so a $5000 "market adjustment" would be unwise
Very nice looking beautiful, Chevy is doing a pretty damn good job with their electrical vehicles on how they look, unlike Tesla. Sorry I'm not a Tesla fan.
Thank you for the video.
Looking forward to watching EV3 of KIA, as well.
Thanks! You and me both!
why does it say Starting MSRP $41,900 on Chevy's website (US) ? thanks for the review
The Lt1 will be cheaper available this year .
@@rcpmac okok thanks
It’s giving great value (gv) version of the Macan.
LFP or NMC?
After 7500 tax credit at 40000 is still expensive, not to mention tax license doc fee dealer add-on
Is there an official release date for the Equinox EV?
It's already out
They are hitting dealerships right now
Yesterday
I have the bolt and the interior breaks if I look at it wrong…
It say it starts at $41,900 at Chevy 👀
That’s because the 1LT is not available yet. Production has begun, and you will be able to reserve this trim by mid to late 2024.
tax credit...
The LT1 is under $28k like the man said
Honestly, how good/bad is the sound system. As far as I can see, its a 6 speaker system with no subwoofer used for all trims. A vehicle that can top out over $50k still deserves the option of a good sound system.
They BETTER make Super Cruise available on the 1LT!! Auto Pilot is available on all Teslas!!
Does the 1 LT qualify for the 7500 rebate?
Yes it will
About time.
It looks stellar, it has good range, good price, it's american and qualifies for ev tax
"It's American" ***but it's actually built in Mexico.
@@jayhawker2363Uhh, hate to break it to you dude, Mexico is as "American" as you'd wanna label the UNITED STATES exclusively "American"
México and 26 other country's including ones in the Carribean are part of "North America"
I don't get where people get the big idea of handing the exclusive term rights to the U.S. as "America/American", it's incredibly ignorant and hilarious.
All countries in this side of the globe are "American" be it north, central or south.
Is the access to Google maps a subscription service?
It is included free for 8 years
Let's go ahead
great, nice
Great looking EV. I get the "driving impressions embargo," but was there also a DONUT embargo?!?!? How many donuts can fit in that cavern?! Looks like at least a dozen, once you take the shelf out!
Very sorry, we accidentally left them behind on this journey 😭
Who forgot to pack the donuts!!!😂
The only problem is that the 1LT isn't available to order. 🙁
Not *yet.*
soon
No CarPlay means no deal for me. Also, how long before GM will start charging for cellular data to stream music and run Google maps?
You mean how Apple charges and has gone subscription based for everything?
8 years
8 years for Google apps built into the system
8 years! Not too bad, you'll probably upgrade to something else by then. I thought they would only give you about 3 years.
@@G-Rated Carplay isn't subscription Costs nothing
Let's go ahead #3
Let's go ahead #2
I just looked this up and it starts at 42 and change so the 27000 is not true
looks like Macan from the side
Chavy most beautiful exterior and interior. 😮😮😮
I do not care for all that red in the interior on the RS models. The 3LT is the one I have my eye on now. The blue one with the white roof, and definitely with Super Cruise!
Let's go ahead #5
all of them on cargurus are fifty grand... where are you finding the twenty seven grand price?
Does it have a NACS connector? You haven't said a thing about it. Charging is important in an EV, just saying...
It has the CCS charge port for now. Charging specs are in the powertrain section
Use an adapter for superchargers They come with it for now. 90% of charging is done at home or work
No Frunk but otherwise looks good though how many of the 1Lt will be produced as US automakers seem to limit the base models of their products
it would have been affordable at the 32K original price estimate but that didn't happen ... and its almost the price of the blazer when you get the current discounts some dealers are offering ..
Decent specs for this price point, except for the low peak charging speed of 150kw. I think in 2024, peak charging speeds for a new EV should be much higher, to make road trips easier.
My only issue with GM is the reliability and safety
finally an affordable ev
An affordable EV that’s good too, at least thi Equinox EV is a solid product not a price of junk
I have never seen the price of a car go up during a TH-cam video.
LOOOOOL! So much for $27K.
$27K when you factor in the federal tax credit
Please check out the pricing section of the video to understand the trims, msrp's and tax credit information
"Wired" Apple car play available though? Anyone know 👋🍎
No
I wish it had normal door handles.
Why does the Blazer not have super cruise
It can, if you add it as an option
No CarPlay… I’ll keep my Bolt for now.
It looks like every other chevy. It has the same steering wheel, the same front end, as the chevy truck ev. Chevy has streamline their vehicles so they all look alike. There used to be differences in the interiors of a 100k Tahoe. Now, the Tahoe, the traverse, the blazer, the trailblazer, the Trax all have very similar front end designs, they all have or will have in 2025 the same steering wheel, very similar interiors. I bought my Tahoe's because I liked their interiors back in 2006 from the Chevy S-10 blazer that I had a time. You look closely at the design, they are getting more and more alike!
Looks better than the Tesla EV
I've been watching your reviews lately and really one measurement you are not getting in the cargo area is the measurement between the wheel wells. To me, this measurement is more important then the measurement at the opening and with the curved opening that measurement is not as accurate as what you have between the wheel wells.
Looks great, but no Apple CarPlay is a huge concern for me. I’m not buying a car without CarPlay. GM should really rethink this.
It has embedded Google map and apps you can download. No need for CarPlay
*You* should rethink this. *gm* has already done their thinking that’s why they went to Google for their latest version of software. You no longer need Apple CarPlay in new *gm* products.
And charge you monthly for the Google base system. Maybe free for a couple of years but that's it! Then they want your money 😢
The taillights come straight from an Acura
