    Thanks for the overview. How does this compare with the Stinson 1 for casual city riding?

    • @marin_bikes
      @marin_bikes  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Stinson is a "comfort bike," designed for a more relaxed, cruiser-like ride. Wider tires and saddle, a bit less "sporting" and designed more for bike path cruising. The Kentfield is a bit sportier in nature. It really depends on your preference/riding style.

  • @s.m.5386

    Would this take 27.5 or 650b wheels? My muirwoods has this size on but I am looking for something with more relaxed geometry like the Kentfield

    • @marin_bikes
      @marin_bikes  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi - while the Kentfield is designed around 700c wheels, you could certainly run 650b wheels, gaining some tire width in the process.

    How are the gears for speed? Will I after get bigger crank to pick the speed up without over peddling

    • @marin_bikes
      @marin_bikes  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well, the top gear is a 38x11, and at 90 RPM you'd be humming along at 25.5 MPH. That being said, Kentfields are geared more towards fitness/commuting/recreational riding, not mashing big gears. You can check this calculator to find out the speeds in each gear: www.bikecalc.com/speed_at_cadence

      @marin_bikes  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There should be recommended tyre pressures written on the side of the tyre. We suggest going in the middle of these 2 numbers, that way you will have a bit of extra traction for any winter based surprises on the surfaces you are riding on

    Great video Duncan. I really like the Kentfield but would prefer the Microshift Advent X 10-Speed groupset currently on the Kentfield 2, however prefer the copper colour of the 1. Do you know if it would be possible to upgrade the Kentfield 1 to this drivetrain?

    • @marin_bikes
      @marin_bikes  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Eddie - as the Kentfield 1 and 2 share frames (under the paint), the drivetrain swap could be done. However, it's an upgrade that you'd have to work with your local bike shop to handle. We don't offer the models with custom specifications.

    • @eddieforbes3054
      @eddieforbes3054 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@marin_bikes Thank you. I believe my inseam is the same as yours. I think the reason I was hesitant going with the XL was because although I love the more upright geometry of this model I feared the extra long head tube would look ridiculous. So this is not the case?

    • @marin_bikes
      @marin_bikes  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@eddieforbes3054 Well, if anything you'll probably sit a bit more upright on a smaller frame, as you won't be as stretched out on a bike with a shorter reach. The XL Kentfield does have a rather generous headtube, which was designed to put the rider in position that we feel best suits the bike style, without having to use a lot of headset spacers.

    • @marin_bikes
      @marin_bikes  ปีที่แล้ว

      hi Kristian - it really depends on personal preference when you are on the bubble between sizes. For instance, I am also on the bubble between the two and generally go for the larger. Your 86cm inseam means you have longer legs, so go with the XL to ensure proper leg extension.
