if you can get it at a reasonable price the big yellow brick containers with lego are very good.also the container is great for storing lego.I found all the lego has come in handy.missing pieces from sets custom parts
I also found this set for $40 CAD, and couldn't resist. I know there's not a ton of any one colour as I'd have liked, but I decided a fun challenge would be to build some nifty microscale spaceships (kinda my thing) using some of the more unusual colours. The rest of them.. I'll keep them in mind, and eventually I'll find a place for everything. Probably. And if I never do, then I still got all the good parts for super cheap.
I have this set. I make a lot of different alternative builds out of it. Rainbow parrots (macaws), dinosaurs, lighthouse, ..., recently made an advent calendar. There are a lot of different parts, a lot of things to build. It's a pity there isn't enough time for everything
When this Black Friday sale started at my local Walmart, a dude bought nearly all of these. Cashier I talked to said it was roughly 300 of these... I hope his investment pans out.
The price per parts ration seems like a great value, but I honestly couldn't see myself making good use of most of those parts, especially all the 1×1 eyeball tiles, and other awkward shapes in odd colors. I might pick one up if I see one at a fair price, but I'm not going out of my way to get one. Thanks for the vid and the up close look at this kit.
I find the smaller classic sets usually are a higher price per piece, but you get a better value. I think the most fun classic set I ever had was 10712 bricks and gears.
I personally bought 2 of the ones that have the 16x16 plates in them. For what I need them for, bolstering my general stock and getting parts for sets that I'm collecting pieces for this was a good deal.

I got two of these from Walmart for $30 each; what stood out to me even more than the wide variety of not particularly useful colors, was the over abundance of printed eyeball tiles which I will NEVER have a use for. I can use big pink and purple bricks for substructure or something that gets covered up, I’ll never use the eye ball tiles.
I got the one that has 16x16 plates for Christmas and I didn't know what to with it till I decided to build a repair garage that is 63 studs long, 32 studs wide and 25 bricks in height out that set and what I have laying around too. I got it from that set of Lego classics.
i got a 1500 piece set like this but it came with a green plate where you can least build a mini moc on it. got it at cosco at a good price. good to have those various colored pieces in general. wish it came with more transparent pieces. its lego so the pieces can be helpful somewhere down the road.
I often mod existing sets and had no stash of spare Lego and it's a pain to calculate and write how many extra pieces I need to order on bricklink so I bought some classic boxes to help me in the process. I don't even mind the weird colours as they show on my mod which pieces I need to get in the right colour. So they act as placeholder pieces.
I wish I knew a lego collector with a giant collection like this. I have a little pile of legos just for fun and I wish I could trade off some of my pieces of certain colors. Like I have that 'wet sand' color you want, but I have maybe 30 pieces of that. I would "much" rather have the same pieces in green or even white because as an adult just doing Lego MOCs to relax, I'm not happy trying to build a house out of 84 different colors. I want to build a decent MOC house with 3 or 4 colors in there, and have it come out looking nice.
I picked the 1500 pc set up with the plates for my daughter. She loved having all of the colors and being able to add the pieces to her growing Lego collection. She doesn't like building the models and instead takes any models we buy her and she builds her own MOCs. Random pieces for her are like gold! :-) For me, they drive me nuts! lol

I got the lego classic space mission kut as a present from my girlfriend. " Look ! It has so many bricks ! And so many colours ! And thats the thing , it has a lot of bricks and dito colours but all these colours have a limited number of bricks. Its a nice set but its not suitable to build something gargantuos with . Have to get more boxes for that 😅
I bought 2 of these for only $60. So the price per piece is most definitely a steal. But...I felt the same way about it. They're great to bolster your collection but all the weird colors are basically useless.
In a Lego Master builders eyes yes the Lego classic sets are great for Master builders and also newcomers to Lego who want to be mastered Lego builders
I was very happy with the box. I bought two at $30-US each. I kept having to order lime, yellow, and a few other colors and paying shipping, so this I felt was a good deal as you said, for supplemental pieces, but pieces I will use.
I opened a 2000 lego classic but I use it to build me a lego 3500 bricks stadium and am happy with my stadium I got the 2000 at £20 before going to £40 the week after the shops I got is asda which is the same as walmart but it asda in the uk
Dang, I could use the bright pink 1x2 curved slope for a cockatiel beak on a memorial for my bird if anyone has an extra. It only came in one set so people are asking stupid prices for it. Please and thank you in advance
In alot of places Lego has had shortage issues due to covid so that may be why they didn't do any sales this year. It also encourages people to go shoping and not say at home.

For a kid lego classe s work shop...thing. Or lego kids party s put out booklet an let the kids build ...i get more outer bying. This thers two type s of the 1500 box. $85. My kids love this. We put them in a big tub. I sometimes add some bricks from the pick a brick wall
Lego really should re do this set with just light and dark greys. I think that would sell very, very well.

This set was a Walmart exclusive and was 30 usd the whole holiday season. Lots of small pieces, but hard to complain for 2 cents per piece

Some of the classic sets do come with large plates. You got the animal one, there are several different ones to buy.

I got a smaller scaled version of that when the quarantine started and had the same problem. Lots of special pieces but not enough basics.
I've rarely seen any LEGO at Wal-mart discounted more than 5 or 10 percent sadly

Lego classic sets are always better than lego city sets as there price to part ratio is always better than lego city sets.
And you get more versatility.
