I watched someone drop 15K at a lego store during a Lego convention in 2002 and the same person did it a year later again for a total of around 7k. Also having worked in Lego retail in the mid 2000's $2k purchases were not uncommon during the holidays. Unfortunately most of those large holiday purchases were well off people who really didn't know anything about the hobby and would bounce around between themes as they didn't know their kids very well from how they interacted with me while I was helping them.

He's hyped about legos and seems excited for them and its cool how he isnt super over exaggerating his joy for it like you see most youtubers do for videos. @@rabarebra depends on the situation...having any job doesnt guarantee complete financail stability ..it depends on the ratio of income to expenses..for examply if your jobs pays $2400 but your rent is like $1200 plus utilities and then extra for food and whatever else..then you wont have much money left over...for anything..so thats called being working and broke..so having a job doesnt guarantee anything..

This brings back memories. I used to buy Lego sets every 2 to 3 weeks between 2012 to 2018. My biggest single haul was on 2017 Jan 17 when I spent over USD6K on Lego purchases and gotten like 17 sets of Year of the sheep for free. My total spent for that year on Lego was over USD30K. Till now (end 2023), total spent on Lego is well over USD110K. Unlike this channel, most of my Lego sets are still MISB as I don't have space to open them all. I think my opened sets are around 300 to 400 or at most 500 sets. As noted in my first sentence most of them are bought between 2012 and 2018. After 2018 I slowed down a lot due to lack of space at home. :-(
Good on you mate! But let's be honest: It's TH-cam ad revenue, donations from viewers and the fees you charge peeps in the Lego community you worked hard to create that pay for all this. Bricklink profits of the sets you have for sale won't make a serious dent in that $2000 budget! 😂

1969 is the year of the first moon landing. The T-Rex set was a really fun to build. Lego has helped keep me sane for the last year.
