Every meal a banquet, some of the best food you can eat is out in the field. Well done ladies and gentlemen 🙂

When I'd been out on a hot patrol, did I come back and wish I could see my family? Nope a hot sweet brew and a egg banjo from the chef.

I have to say Chefs got a lot of stick in the army especially if attached to infantry battalions. They would get called egg welders and all sorts of names.I did a hobby chefs course and its only half a day.It was hands down the hardest course i did really brutal temperatures ect ect.I loved my Army grud these men are real professionals.I havnt had as good food leaving the army and im proud to served with the Catering cores thankyou.

The most noticeable difference between British & American military catering is the abundance of fresh vegetables used by the British and the apparent complete lack of the same with the Americans - !

      Hi
Yes, there are still roles within 3MCS for the Caterer role.

Do they still go out into the field with chefs and are they still able to use a rifle or are their duties mainly based in the mess 90% of the time?

    • @royalairforce

      @@csvickers151
If you're posted to 3MCS then yes, you'll be out in the field along with everyone else from the Sqn, that's why you're there.
Everyone does weapon handling as part of phase one (initial) training. But you don't get your own weapon that you carry around every day.
If you're posted to a mess then you will be working in there.
Have you read all of the information on the role page on the RAF Recruitment website?

I have yes but I wanted more depth information on the role. So 3MCS do not do any form of Force protection training even for operations After phase 1?

everyone in the raf has to do force protection training, it's part of being in the military. soldier first, trade second.@@csvickers151

The Sqn needs to operate in whatever climate or place they're deployed, so they train and do exercises in different places to those eventualities.

*sigh* you're one of the dumb ones with that attitude. there are reservists with degrees and 6 figure salaries that do ground trades because they want to help out or try something different.

This is just another reason why pay as you dine is a terrible idea. Food was really good but now on normal bases all contracted out and vile.....skills lost and less people ready to deploy just means at end of the day the inital saving* the MOD thought they were making costs far more in truth.

    • @WizardOfCheese
      @WizardOfCheese 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

i agree, they don't season anything. i think there needs to be at least one chef in there to oversee what goes out is good enough. they want to save money but everything has a cost. they could go 50/50 with it, have contractors do the prepping.

The Army need to change their food menu, same old boring British food get chef in from different background with different food from their culture. In the kitchen
