Great call on the tool loan; that's indispensable. Also, thanks for showing things on the new parts from there removal or again once it's out for clarity. Just finished my swap out and took about an hour and a half for anyone wondering about time frames.
    Thanks for the info, guys.

So glad to finally come across a video that was straight to the point with no BS. SO tired of hearing everyone's life story before actually getting to the point! Was expecting it to be a lot harder, thanks!

Hey I thought you guy’s did a great job on the video. Had just the right info and no BS. Plus it wasn’t annoying and I wasn’t embarrassed to be watching it when somebody else walked in the room. So nice job!

Thanks for the video. I'm helping a friend with this same job and you guys made the video straight to the point. I'm glad you mentioned the part about renting the tool for the fan. On my 06 trailblazer I used a strap wrench and it took a while.

I cut the heads off a couple bolts and slotted the top and put those in the top holes to make sure the gasket is aligned. Put in bottom bolts then screw the top bolts back out. Works good.

Rather than renting a tool I used a large adjustable wrench and screwdriver. Otherwise great video it definitely helped.

On this car we tried to fight with it for a while and found it was just too seized up, for some cars where it is less rusted on your suggestion is quite reasonable.

I just used a heavy hammer and gently tapped it loose with the wrench from the shaft. No holding too needed.

I just use a Crescent Wrench & Hammer to pop that Clutch Fan off.. Works every time. Then just a couple of taps to secure it.
Thinking of putting a pump on mine. It's working & not leaking or making noise.
I can see coolant flowing through the radiator. I've changed everything but mine is running warmer on 85° to 95° hot days when driving like 210° & higher (220°) when towing, I don't like my temp to run above 210°>
I'm about to install another replacement Hayden Severe Duty Clutch Fan, new belt, tensioner & idler pulley. Maybe that'll help.

A large pair of water pump pliers will work instead of the adjustable fan clutch tool but you will need the narrow wrench from the wrench kit.

Interesting, somewhat similar to the Astro/Safari water pump. One thing I did not like was no torque specs. were given for the water pump to engine block. Also no info on the 2 waterpump gaskets. Did you use gasket adhesive? Did you install them dry? Other than that it is a good video guide.

For this one we didn’t torque to a specific spec, we just put some blue locktite and put it hand tight since at the time we didn’t have the manual handy for this car. For the gaskets, we just put the gasket installed it dry and so far still no leaks or issues.

I had an 88 s-10 with the 4.3. When I replaced the water pump I pulled the radiator. It gives you extra room and only takes a minute.

So you didn’t put gaskets or gasket maker between where the pump goes to the block?

Re-using those factory clamps? Yuck ;)

This comment rang very true this weekend while we had this car offroad and it blew the lower radiator hose off. Luckily it was just the factory clamp that caused the failure.

You guys are way to fast and hardly describe the details of how to do it.
