80’s and 90’s Country music have some of the best songs for sure! You should check out Ronnie Milsap “Smoky mountain rain” or “Wouldn’t have missed it for the World “!
I grew up in Indian Trail, NC which is about 20 minutes west of Marshville, where he Randy Travis (Traywick) was from. Him and his brother would have parties and use an old flatbed trailer as a stage. It was great.
The timbre of his rich baritone voice is unparalleled. My favorite Randy Travis songs are Reasons I Cheat; Promises; Take Another Swing At Me; This is Me; Look Heart, No Hands; Spirit of a Boy, Wisdom of a Man; That’s Where I Draw the Line; I Told You So; The Box; He Walked On Water; Three Wooden Crosses; More Life; Hard Rock Bottom of Your Heart; It’s Just a Matter of Time; On the Other Hand; and Forever and Ever Amen.
Love this song. It was number one on the country charts for so many weeks I totally lost track, but I fell in love with it all over again every time I heard it. In fact, this song and George Jones' "He Stopped Loving Her Today," were the only songs ever voted country song of the year two years in a row. The song was adopted by children in a number of hospital cancer wards who appreciated that line about if your hair all fell out, I'd love you any way. It was touching to watch videos of the sick kids gathered around listening to the song and grinning and cheering over that line.
Randy had that old country voice from the 60's to me in the 80's... Pop-Pop raised me on the greats back in the day and Randy's voice just made me think of old country.
In the 80s when the adults would be throwing darts/playing cards in the party room, this song always played. Us kids were trying to watch TV, but that can't happen with the stereo blasting😂
I'm 42 I grew up on Randy Travis My Grandma Loved Him and she got too see him live before she died of cancer back in 2016 and it's a moment that's unforgettable experience cause he was her everything and the joy was priceless my Uncle took her and he is great for that RIP Grandma and keep going Randy
Randy Travis caused a country music explosion back in the mid 80's with the release of his first album. This brought in a bunch of new country artists in the late 80's and into the 90's which was the shot in the arm the country music genre needed, as it had long languished in the old style. So many artists came on the scene like Shania Twain, Brooks & Dunn, Garth Brooks, LeAnn Rimes and Travis Tritt. All of these and more were mainstays in our household in the 90's, from sitting in the living room listening to music, to being out in the garage with dad working on something. Randy was always in rotation on a stereo. Randy's deep voice is still a joy to listen to. It's a shame he had a stroke and can't sing anymore.
I'm 50 years old and when I was going through puberty I had a scratchy voice for a couple of days and then woke up with this voice that sounded like a grown man so there's not many singers that I can sing along with but Randy Travis has always definitely been one of them. I don't drink much anymore but if I'm drinking you are guaranteed to hear some Randy Travis or Josh Turner karaoke
I loved when he appeared on Matlock.him & Matlocks daughter are listening to the radio and one of his songs comes on & he starts singing.... Watch the episode to find out what is said. 😂😂😂😂😂
Randy almost singlehandedly saved Country Music in the mid-late 80s. The genre was at an all time low. This was his first big hit, in about 1985. I'm not sure what your you're talking about. Randy had a stroke several years back, so bad that the plug was almost pulled on his life support. His wife asked for a little more time, and he came out of it. He can't sing anymore. He can barely talk. But he does understand everything. He has enough die hard fans that he might be doing a tour just to meet fans.
HEy.. you hold that women's hand when you listen to this song and when it's done.. you go hug those kids and embrace this message. We are all better for this mans song. man's
This was written by Paul Overstreet and Don Schlitz. T They wrote quite a few great songs! If you want a humerus song by Randy, try "Pray for the fish". "It's Just A Matter Of time" is great too.
That was a real good good song but there's another one that he wrote to call Three Crosses y'all need to listen to that one too that will really make you cry
Boooo! Just kidding aside, I understand as you have a lot of going on. My Wife's account for Tillygthethetoritise has gone crazy. I hope you are well and Iook forward to seeing you Live one day soon. :)@@AsiaandBJ
It’s a shame he had a stroke and can’t sing anymore. He was one of the best country singers around. Loved him in my 20’s love him today.
That sucks
Ma’am, he wasn’t able to sing since he picked up the bottle.
I didn't know that. Oh my God. I've loved his music since the very first song of his that I heard.
I will definitely add him to my prayers.
@@trentk4422not true.
He just released a new song today!
This song will forever make me absolutely MELT. Randy was and still is a treasure hands down.
As long as old men sit and talk about the weather, as long as old women sit and talk about old men. - Best line.
👍Always loved that one.
That's always been my favorite line, as well!!
Mine too I'm always surprised that reactors don't ever comment on it.

Classic Randy Travis. He had so many awesome songs.

Check out "Diggin' up Bones". It isn't easy to work the word 'exhuming' into a song lyric. This song is from 1987.
I wish Randy would recover. Loved his unique voice.

Randy Travis - Deeper Than A Holler (..and longer than the song of a whippoorwill)
Randy Travis caused a country music explosion back in the mid 80's with the release of his first album.
