- Rescue efforts are underway in Haiti after a powerful 7.2 magnitude earthquake killed hundreds of people, and left many more injured and missing.
Seismologist Klaus Jacob said Saturday the earthquake struck close to the surface and warned of possible aftershocks.
"This is a one-two kind of a punch. First the earthquake and now that tropical storm that's going over the island, more or less, as we speak right now,” he said.
The earthquake hit about 125 kilometres west of the capital of Port-au-Prince, according to the U.S. Geological Survey, and caused widespread damage.

As a Haitian, I'm tired of this ''can't catch a break'' line. It implies that Haiti's problems are supernatural or something when in reality Haiti's main problem is Western imperialism, puppet leaders installed through rigged elections by the West and tectonic plates. How does the D.R. seem to always dodge these earthquakes that destroy Haiti ? You would think since they share the same island that they would both be affected.
They don't, I was on a mission trip to DR in 2011 to help rebuild. Some areas were demolished. They simply don't get talked about as much for political reason.
I was also wondering about that. Must be some fault line under the ocean near the Haitian coast.

Keep in mind the video image is of the damage and devastation. It does not show the buildings that were not affected.
Even so, 7.2 in Haiti is a disaster. In particular as Haiti is still affected by COVID. My prayers go out to the people affected.
Well, their last earthquake which i think was not as strong as this one still killed 316,000 people so i imagine alot of the buildings are damaged in this one.

Most times when there is a disaster , people would like to donate, but there are people who have these little organizations collecting money for which people will be quick to give, but you never know where all these donations are going. People only collect with the intentions of lining their pockets with all that cash and maybe the poor people may only get 5% of it. There are few reliable organizations I know that I would give my donations to, and it’s the Red Cross or this Adventist organization called ADRA.These people are present with help in any disaster with their First Aid teams , food and clothing. If you could get it to the people in need directly or sending it to a church you know the ones who need the help would get it.

to be fair, when cities are built we have no idea that theres fault lines underneath our feet when building them, some major fault lines take hundreds of years to reset, in geological terms thats a blink of an eye, but for us, cities can be built and expanded with out us even knowing the dangers.

Prior to the one in 2010, Haiti hadn't had an earthquake in over 100 years. This is about tectonic plates that run through Haiti, lack of anti-seismic building codes and climate change (possibly even fracking/HAARP.) . Japan gets more earthquakes than Haiti and even stronger ones too.

Putting trust in ppl first is what made this happen. There’s so much spiritual warfare in that country. Ppl may go to church but at the same time see a psychic. God gave this country 10+ years to change. They expect the government to stop being corrupt…well how about you be a ppl worth having a peaceful country. Go to God who made you. Don’t back down because of excuses, the past and fear. God did not give you the spirit of fear but of power love and self discipline.

I went to the part of the country up in the mountains for the second time and this time it was littered with mosquitos. The woman of the house who’s been there for her life said it’s never happened. It’s was horrible you couldn’t sit with out one of them claiming a part of you. It was time to sleep and it just wasn’t happening. I wrapped my whole body tightly in a sheet and they were still getting me. And the sound so.dread.ful. Anyways I go to the living room and it’s the same, I can myself with a pillow and same. I transfer to another bedroom in the house and have a fan directly on me and nothing. The buzzing in my ear with something to cry about😂😂 finally I decide to go outside and I get this grand idea to put chairs together and sleep. It was a carnival night and they say there are lots of ppl that rob house thinking ppl are away but I had no other choice. I trusted God with my life and went. I place the chairs outside and I look up and the sky is fullll of stars. I have never seen that with my two eyes and it’s always been my dream. After that I wrote a song that could only come from heaven to me. I then put my chair bet under a cherry bush and slept well. No robbers, no distraction and cool breeze under Gods beautiful lights. I woke up and while everyone’s talking about how they roughed it I excitedly told them about the camping on the chairs and ppl were shocked and amazed lol it was nice. God is good.
So I pray by faith you’d understand.
God works wonders. I wanted deep in my so to see a sky like that but I had forgotten about the possibility. God in his love made the way. It may not seem great but the end definitely proved the suffering to be worth while. Like I said the woman of the house never had an issue with mosquitoes and it only came once she left. She a very sweet gently old lady and I know God never wanted to burden her sleep with mosquitos but when she left it was a mad house lol. And I had it the worse being from the states and not used to it. But as soon as I saw the sky I knew God had to make a way to get me out to house to see it. And sleep out doors because that’s also a hearts desire.
Yes ppl are suffering but this may be they push they need to see the grand gift of salvation from God through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Who said he will never leave you nor forsake you.

They just sent an ambulance with doctors and nurses from the dominican Republic and on the way to the ground zero in Haiti, the dominican volunteers were kidnapped by a group of armed revels and we still have no idea what happened to the doctors and the nurses.
My heart goes out to the people of Haiti, but I have three things to say. One…Don’t let the Clinton’s raise money for disaster relief like they did for the 2010 earthquake because they will take it for themselves once again…Two.. when the Haitian people rebuild they must use shipping containers because they are inexpensive & it’s impossible for a container to shake apart and fall down on you, if done right , homes built from containers look pretty good (look up examples)…and Three…tectonic pressure’s have been released under Haiti but the movement of the earth’s plates I think could have increased the pressure under California which is geologically well over due for a major earthquake. So I predict in the year 2022 ( possibly sooner) California is going to have a significant earthquake to release the increased tectonic pressure put there but the earths plate movement in Haiti ….but I hope I’m wrong.
