    Thanks for video I wasn't sure how the motor gaskets went. I had to buy a new box the old one was falling apart and actually the new one was harder to clip up. Nothing comes with instructions these days. My tip: use a large flat head screwdriver or large pry tool. Get one side of the clip in place and just push the other side until it snaps in place. No need for clamps and all that. Wear safety gloves in case you slip and lose a finger!

    Great video! I am putting back together my heater core box for my 67 Mustang and I had no idea what I was doing until I found your video! Thank you!

      I’m finding a lot of videos don’t show the whole process and instead try to do the heater core in a 20 minute video, so I’m glad you found this and that it helped your project!

    Invaluable video, thank you sir! I'm was really surprised there's no seal between the squirrel cage plate and the box.

      You’ll need the heater plenum that controls floor and defrost, the hoses connect to the top of the plenum.

    Did I miss the part where you said where to find the extended tube heater core? Thanks in advance.

    Great video! Which specific 3M adheasive spray are you using?

    • @TheGT350Garage
      @TheGT350Garage  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I use the 3M Yellow Super Trim Adhesive in an aerosol can. Works great, but have a dedicated area to use it, it takes a little practice to not make a mess with it.

    For anybody performing this process years after this post, you can use a flathead screwdriver to remove and attach the clips. Google it for proper procedure. I almost damaged the fiberglass box snapping them off and on.

    Awesome how-to video! Thanks, Walter. Question - do you oil the blower motor bearing? I saw a post somewhere that recommended doing that when you have the heater box out.

    • @TheGT350Garage
      @TheGT350Garage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My advice would not be to oil the motor bearings. Here’s why: the bearings are greased from the factory. Adding oil will degrade any good grease remaining and cause the bearings to run dry sooner. Additionally, the oil and grease mixture is going to run away from the bearing, and any oil and grease that is exposed to particulate matter internally Or externally to the motor will attract those particulate and they will accelerate wear if they travel into the bearing surfaces. If the motor spins freely, leave well enough alone. If the motor is stiff, it’s in your best interest to get a replacement.

    Is the process shown here very similar to the 1968 Torino ? I'm unable to find any videos specific to Fairlane/ Torino line. Thank you.

      It’s similar but not quite the same. And it really depends on wether or not you have AC

    Is there a reason you didn’t clean the box before putting it back together?

    • @TheGT350Garage
      @TheGT350Garage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually the box was fairly clean, and I had wiped it out with a damp cloth. I didn’t get overly aggressive cleaning it because it is original and it has a few weak areas. Most guys like to paint the boxes during a rebuild, but for me, it was more to my liking that it retains the correct vintage appearance without looking overly reworked.

    what does the electric element in the heater box?

    63 comet similar?

    • @TheGT350Garage
      @TheGT350Garage  ปีที่แล้ว

      Very much similar, if not the same, from the removal process to the service parts. In fact I believe the Falcon/Comet heater box from ‘60-65 is the same box as the ‘64.5-66 Mustang and ‘67-68 Mustang/Cougar without A/C. I would suggest the extended tube heater core, for engine compartment hose connection and reducing the potential for hose related leaks into the interior.
