Each year in September, you can see the most spectacular sailing yachts from around the world in the port of Saint-Tropez. There are approximately 250 - 300 sailing yachts and participants and numerous spectators on the water and on land.
Saint-Tropez will welcome the first of the world's most luxurious yachts on Saturday evening. All types of yachts will be displayed, from ultra-modern models with a sleek design to more traditional models.
High-tech performance and luxurious interiors are all these yachts' most distinguishing features. The event will likely attract a few prominent faces since these gems aren't accessible to everyone.
There are a number of regattas in various categories. Still, you can also enjoy the atmosphere at the harbor with a "Villages des Voiles" (sailing village) with 10-15 exhibitors. The event will include musical contributions, a boules competition, and a fashion show featuring sailing equipment.

“12 Metre class” refers to a rating class designed according to international standards for racing yachts. In this way, boats in a class can compete fairly while retaining their freedom to experiment with their designs. Boats with a “12 Metre” designation don’t refer to any one measurement or to their overall length. An engineering formula governs its design and construction, in which the parameters are defined. In the 12 Metre class, the average boat is between 65 and 75 feet long (about 20 to 23 meters) and is sloop rigged with a mast about 85 feet high (26 meters).
The first “12 Metres” were constructed in 1907. The 12 Metre class was included in the Olympic Games in 1908, 1912, and 1920, but only a handful of boats participated. Many people are familiar with the design because of the America’s Cup boats which were build from 1958 to 1987. Maintaining competitiveness requires boats in the 12 Metre class to adhere to the formula.
When designing a boat, many factors must be considered, such as sail area, waterline length, and girth (the measurement circumferentially around the yacht from one sideboard, over the keel, and back to the sideboard. After the measurements are taken, they are weighted based on the formula. The combined measurement must be equal to or less than 12 metres.

Designers may change any variable in the boat design as long as the changes elsewhere add up to 12 metres and the boat is safe and seaworthy. Despite the rule’s intent to minimize disparity between boats, there is still enough variation between them to make the skill of seamanship and tactics as important as the construction and design of the boat.
