As a woman, I would never say what Lori said to Rick in front of our kid. Our marriage is our marriage, and the kid has nothing to do with it, and should be left out of it. To answer your later question: no, it was not an acceptable amount of time. Not sure I'd ever get over the loss of my husband, but then, he's a wonderful guy! Lori moved on way too quickly for my liking, and Shane didn't seem to be feeling any guilt about jumping on his BFF's wife.
Yall are always looking at this as a black&white situation from real life. It was the end of the world, Lori was dependant on Shane for her and her kids lives to be safe. They were trauma-bonded and codependent on each other. It's fairly obvious she still loves and misses Rick but she's trying to move on and survive. People always shit on Lori and make everything her fault when in reality she's just a complex and realistic character who makes mistakes. And I'm not her biggest fan either but at least I can get some critical thinking behind her actions.

The reason that zombie girl picked up the bear was because the first few EPs of S1 were directed by a different show runner. This show runner made zombies in TWD universe very intelligent. They had the ability to use TOOLS, PROBLEM SOLVE (like opening a door you locked, climbing over fences, smashing doors/windows with objects etc). The first TWD show director also gave them the ability to SPRINT which was an INDEFINITE capability since they were undead. Which meant they could indefinitely chase living ppl like Rick. HOWEVER, behind screen politics prevailed and this producer was replaced by another show runner. Who turned the zombies into what TWD universe zombies became until the end of the show 10 years later.
It was also kinda written into the lore that the zombies were more "alive" in the first season. I say kinda because the title screen for the show gets more and more decayed as the seasons go on. Pretty cool way to adapt but still integrate the past directors vision.
Lets not put expectations on certain seasons of the show. Just let the fellas watch, enjoy, and form their own opinions of the show. Hopefully someone on their team knows but post credit scenes start s5e1. Hope yall enjoy this is my favorite drama from back in early 2010's.

Some people's favorite season is 3 and finds that the show started dropping after that in story quality. This is their first time watching the show, so let them watch it the same as you and many of us did the first time. I’ve been watching a lot of reactors for years and I think so does a majority of the people, so they’re all patrons to these people and they all vote the same on every poll so we always get the same shows around the same time.
I noticed this too. It almost feels like all these channels talk and plan things together to influence the algorithm. But I don't think so many channels are in contact like that.
This is not a spoiler because it’s not mentioned in the show but Rick was in the hospital for 59 days 2 months which does explain why the flowers died and why the Zombie Apocalypse already started.

@@Xl081x this series had a weird arc for me. I fell off on the series around the season you mention however there was a noticeable change in quality once they changed the show runners. The later seasons became entertaining for me once again. I really liked season nine.
7:32 This is wild to hear. Most modern TV doesn’t really pull me in, is this why? All of my favorite shows have extended dialogue scenes and I’ve never thought twice about it, so hearing what was said here was kind of jarring to me. Has modern TV really devolved so far that it’s obvious they forgo dialogue and story building in favor of “action” or “viral moments”? I really hope y’all take in everything that’s being said during the quiet moments. Pause if you want to yap, because there’s a LOT of important dialogue in this show you really can’t miss for the sake of a joke. Especially if you plan to make it through the ups and downs of the 11 season ride.
You guys are in for a hell of a journey with this show. Since it isn’t explicitly said, it’s been about 2 months since the outbreak started. Also yeah as someone said the concept of a zombie does not exist in this universe so no one has any idea how to handle them also hence why they’re called walkers instead of zombies. It kinda sucks that this season was directed by a different person because the zombie mechanics change completely by next season.
Can’t wait to see you guys react to this series!! One thing, the half of a zombie that Rick killed was just the first zombie he ever saw, so he was going back to mercy kill her. This show is so deep, I really hope you guys enjoy it.

the walker that was in half, crawling on the ground isnt important really. she's just the first walker he saw after leaving the hospital. the importance of the scene is that Rick is merciful. he went back to kill that walker because of mercy.
This is genuinely one of the best television pilots I've ever seen. I'd put it up there right alongside LOST as one of my favorites in TV history. Of course, watching it again with the reaction it occurs to me... wouldn't it have been smarter for Morgan and Duane to just stay in the police station? Weapons, ammo, hot water, presumably at least some food (but you'd have to scavenge anywhere), fences/fortifications... seems like a pretty good place to be during a zombie apocalypse.
a shame that the show kind of forgets details like that. The characters would be deaf by season 5 if they kept the orignal showrunner from season 1 and the first half of 2

So excited that you guys started this! Had to pause to comment about the nightmares… having the ability to “fall” or shoot up everyone in the dream is a great way to handle it. Dreams are crazy and not real… so it’s not like you are really shooting people. But you did gain the upper hand of the dream by taking control. It’s a quality that some people don’t have and if they seek therapy… a good therapist tries to coach them through how to do it… but it can take years.
This is soo good! I didn’t know what you would watch next since you’re almost done with GOT. But aww here I go again rewatching with u guys for weeks on end... ❤
The reason the zombie girl picked up the teddy bear: The S1 showrunner was Frank Darabont (Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, Mist). He wanted the Walkers reminiscent of the zombies in Night of the Living Dead, who retained some reflexive & muscle memory behavior based on what they did when they were alive. The zombie girl didnt want the bear per se, it was just reflexive, an action she'd done a hundred times when she was alive.
There are currently 7 TV shows in the walking dead franchise, totalling in 340 episodes across 26 seasons... with a couple more on the way! Good luck on your journey :)
I don't think shane was in the wrong. He checked on rick,thought he was dead when the world ended.. He could've left his wife alone but then she'd be dead for sure. But he went out his way and saved ricks wife and kid, the world ended and rick was in a perm coma.....is him getting a lil sloppy toppy not deserved?
I enjoyed your review. 😂😂 Not giving any spoilers but it's been about 2 months since the zombie takeover. A new character in episode 3 or 4 gives an exact # of days. With that being said Rick was probably in the hospital 1 or 2 months prior to that time. So Shane had to be eyeing Lori before everything went down for them to hook up so soon. Disrespectful is putting it mildly.
On the original run of the show, it was followed by a chat show called “Talking Dead”, with a comic host and cast and crew guests and a small audience where they would discuss the episode.

I used to tune into the channel where they interviewed the cast every episode like the millions of viewers who loved the show. I saw another comment, but yeah in this universe the concept of a zombie doesn't even exist. Not even the word Zombie. That's why you'll hear them called stupid things like walkers, and why people just seem like idiots about it lollll
Storytelling wise, they had her pick it up (and showed it from that angle, plus waited to show her face) so we wouldn't know, like Rick, if she was dead or just walking around injured. It gave Rick the opportunity to demonstrate that he wants to help, since he stayed and waited to act until she got threatening. To me, it's a sign that even though he knows there are undead walking around, he's still hopeful to find another person that might be alive. I'm guessing she got the impulse to grab it from the same place in her brain that created the urge to go for Rick once he got her attention. He said "Carl" because,. while knocked silly, his response upon finally seeing a living human child was to say the name of his own son. And the last one he shoots without saying anything to, I always felt like represented the innocent people that he thought he would be spending his life protecting, and now he's finally accepting how different thing will have to be fore his life and clearly- He's not happy about it at all, but he's willing to do it if there's a chance he can find his family. I love that, in these early episodes- They have moments of just showing Rick sitting and trying to collect himself, it's such realistic behavior such a terrifying state of mind, especially when it comes to keep on moving forward.
The only spin-offs you need to watch after Walking Dead for continuity are (in this order) World Beyond and The Ones Who Live. World Beyond is only 2 short seasons, and The Ones Who Live is only 1 short season. The other spin-offs don't "need" to be watched for continuity of the main story, but they're not bad.
So the "zombie prank" idea you guys are talking about around 19:00 sort of did happen. Look up Derren Brown: Apocalypse if interested, but bear it mind that it isn't really a prank, more of an elaborate psychology thing! It was super interesting but maybe ethically a bit grey to mess with the poor dude's emotions so hard? 😅 I guess he consented to be on a Derren Brown programme though and knew that could entail anything, idk, but definitely worth a look I think!
This show is peak, then mid, then peak again, then mid again, then peak... etc etc. If a part feels bad but you wanna keep watching, tough out the rest of the season and things will start getting better for a little while haha.

Great show for the first few seasons, but around season 3/4 it just got so repetitive. You knew what was going to happen before they did anything.

Love you guys. Don't listen to the haters talking about how you guys "talk too much." That is nonsensical. There are so many reactors (*cough* - Reel Rejects) whom I like, but they actually don't talk nor react enough. You guys have me dead every video despite barely understanding the sports references and having to look up words like "CAP" lol. I may join the Patreon, which I've never done before. I know you're doubting Rick now, but wait. Season 1 (for me) is one of the least interesting seasons. the walker that was in half, crawling on the ground isnt important really. she's just the first walker he saw after leaving the hospital. the importance of the scene is that Rick is merciful. he went back to kill that walker because of mercy.
Actually there’s a back story about “bicycle girl” in the comics. It’s important but not to the TV show, unfortunately.
This is genuinely one of the best television pilots I've ever seen. I'd put it up there right alongside LOST as one of my favorites in TV history. Of course, watching it again with the reaction it occurs to me... wouldn't it have been smarter for Morgan and Duane to just stay in the police station? Weapons, ammo, hot water, presumably at least some food (but you'd have to scavenge anywhere), fences/fortifications... seems like a pretty good place to be during a zombie apocalypse.

Your ears can ring when shooting a gun out in the open. So yes, a gun fired in a tank would absolutely rock your ear drums.
A .44 at that and the tank is even more insulated than a car.
A .22 in a car could pop your ears
a shame that the show kind of forgets details like that. The characters would be deaf by season 5 if they kept the orignal showrunner from season 1 and the first half of 2

So excited that you guys started this! Had to pause to comment about the nightmares… having the ability to “fall” or shoot up everyone in the dream is a great way to handle it. Dreams are crazy and not real… so it’s not like you are really shooting people. But you did gain the upper hand of the dream by taking control. It’s a quality that some people don’t have and if they seek therapy… a good therapist tries to coach them through how to do it… but it can take years.
This is soo good! I didn’t know what you would watch next since you’re almost done with GOT. But aww here I go again rewatching with u guys for weeks on end... ❤

The reason the zombie girl picked up the teddy bear: The S1 showrunner was Frank Darabont (Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, Mist). He wanted the Walkers reminiscent of the zombies in Night of the Living Dead, who retained some reflexive & muscle memory behavior based on what they did when they were alive. The zombie girl didnt want the bear per se, it was just reflexive, an action she'd done a hundred times when she was alive.

I don't think shane was in the wrong. He checked on rick,thought he was dead when the world ended.. He could've left his wife alone but then she'd be dead for sure. But he went out his way and saved ricks wife and kid, the world ended and rick was in a perm coma.....is him getting a lil sloppy toppy not deserved?

I enjoyed your review. 😂😂 Not giving any spoilers but it's been about 2 months since the zombie takeover. A new character in episode 3 or 4 gives an exact # of days. With that being said Rick was probably in the hospital 1 or 2 months prior to that time. So Shane had to be eyeing Lori before everything went down for them to hook up so soon. Disrespectful is putting it mildly.

Loved your commentary! I’ll be tuning in to your reactions as the seasons continues. This is not a spoiler but your emotions will go wild as this continues on. One of my favourite shows. I used to tune into the channel where they interviewed the cast every episode like the millions of viewers who loved the show. I got mad and stopped the show as a controversial episode (😂 in a funny way) but I will continue watching it with yall.
I saw another comment, but yeah in this universe the concept of a zombie doesn't even exist. Not even the word Zombie. That's why you'll hear them called stupid things like walkers, and why people just seem like idiots about it lollll
Storytelling wise, they had her pick it up (and showed it from that angle, plus waited to show her face) so we wouldn't know, like Rick, if she was dead or just walking around injured. It gave Rick the opportunity to demonstrate that he wants to help, since he stayed and waited to act until she got threatening. To me, it's a sign that even though he knows there are undead walking around, he's still hopeful to find another person that might be alive. I'm guessing she got the impulse to grab it from the same place in her brain that created the urge to go for Rick once he got her attention.
He said "Carl" because,. while knocked silly, his response upon finally seeing a living human child was to say the name of his own son. And the last one he shoots without saying anything to, I always felt like represented the innocent people that he thought he would be spending his life protecting, and now he's finally accepting how different thing will have to be fore his life and clearly- He's not happy about it at all, but he's willing to do it if there's a chance he can find his family.
I love that, in these early episodes- They have moments of just showing Rick sitting and trying to collect himself, it's such realistic behavior such a terrifying state of mind, especially when it comes to keep on moving forward.

The only spin-offs you need to watch after Walking Dead for continuity are (in this order) World Beyond and The Ones Who Live. World Beyond is only 2 short seasons, and The Ones Who Live is only 1 short season. The other spin-offs don't "need" to be watched for continuity of the main story, but they're not bad.

So the "zombie prank" idea you guys are talking about around 19:00 sort of did happen. Look up Derren Brown: Apocalypse if interested, but bear it mind that it isn't really a prank, more of an elaborate psychology thing! It was super interesting but maybe ethically a bit grey to mess with the poor dude's emotions so hard? 😅 I guess he consented to be on a Derren Brown programme though and knew that could entail anything, idk, but definitely worth a look I think!
