    You're a legend for the upload but way to leave us in suspense. I looked immediately for an update video and nothing! Would love to know how it runs and especially change in fuel consumption with the big bore kit.

      Yeah, sorry Godfrey. I will get to a review of the 500cc now I have the new camera. I can confirm that fuel consumption has gone up. I'm getting about 5.5L per 100km now.

      @@MORK-TV That means by 7km the mileage has been reduced.

      @@MORK-TV 5.5L/100km ~ 42.7 miles/gal(US). Is that on standard-87 or pricey 98-octane?

      I run it on 95 or 98 due to the high compression. I have not tried it on 91(the lowest available in Australia).

    Dear Sir, I live in NSW and I have the same model Himalayan as you do. I was very delighted to see when you got the bike started for the first time
    Would it be fair to say that the starter motor required more amperage to kick the bike over ( initially at least ) due to the higher compression of the bigger piston?
    Great work by the way and I really enjoyed watching the video! ( I learned a few thing along the way also ) thanks again for posting your video

    • @MORK-TV
      @MORK-TV  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Alan. I thought similar. I tried a lithium battery with more CCA but it still struggled so I replaced the positive an earth cables with bigger cable and it still struggles. It might be that the starter motor itself needs replacing. I'm pushing around 10.2:1 compression now. I might have to drill in a decompression valve🥴🥴

    I wasn't sure what was more exciting -- the bike starting after the rebuilt or seeing the Kangaroos dining in your yard? Congratulations on now having a 500cc Himalayan. I look forward to seeing what you think of the change on the road.

      Yeah, it's pretty special being able to watch the roos most evenings. It's great when the joeys start coming out of mum's pouch for the first time. Pretty happy with the Himorleyan 500 so far. I've done just over 500km now so can start to open it up now I've changed the oil. I think I might get it put on the Dyno to try and tune it for better economy. Fuel consumption has gone up. I hope to get some riding videos produced but I am still trying to find a cheapish Gopro.

    So why couldn't re just do this and make their himalayans 500cc?? So many comments about wanting more power from himalayans that they've gone and made a whole new 450.....just make these ones into 500s, doesn't make sense!!

    was wonder what RE mechanics might hv thought....
    The ideal RPM I thought was high.
    How to accelaration and power output....looking forward.

    • @MORK-TV
      @MORK-TV  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for that Dave. I had not actually kept track but just doing a quick scan back through my bank statements I've come up to about $2000 I think by the time I add oils and other consumables.
      $81.30 Cables
      $275.00 chain
      $250.00 headwork
      $900.00 piston
      $180.00 HD Clutch
      $72.99 OEM clutch
      $76.00 jets
      $30.00 sparkplug
      I've added a few other things too like Pivot Pegs $260, Fuel Cans $125, SRC crash bars, brake guards $420, Pannier racks $400. Soft pannier Bags & tank Bag $420.
      So I've probably spent in the range of $4,000AUD with stuff I've forgotten about. Overcapitalized in other words - but good fun anyway.

    Thanks, found this very interesting. What sort of engine oil does it use and do you think synthetic would have helped or prevented the piston damage?

    • @MORK-TV
      @MORK-TV  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, Kevin. I was running Penrite 15w50 fully synthetic from memory. I could be completely wrong about the reason for the de-crowning - it just seemed to be a reasonable explanation to me.
