    I grabbed the audio with a software loopback and FFT analyzed it; this is one of the best bass test tones on YT - the frequency response is completely flat all the way down to 5Hz. The audio signal is there exactly as described; if you can't hear it, it's something in your system. Good job! This is the real deal.

      Image of spectrum analysis at imgur.com/a/Yj9Uo if you want to see. 5hz is at the right hand side. Nice and flat all the way down.

    We don't "hear" below about 20Hz. Anything you "hear" below that is artifact/distortion, not the tone itself.

    • @benjaminmaier1990
      @benjaminmaier1990 10 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      No, proven wrong in the 1980s. Hearing level is down as to 10Hz at 130dB

    • @jamesnelson8697
      @jamesnelson8697 10 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      10Hz is not a generally accepted figure, wouldn't apply to everyone, and at any rate the people commenting here are NOT listening at 130 dB!

    • @benjaminmaier1990
      @benjaminmaier1990 10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      For sure you dont listen at 130 db. Its not a general number and certainly not applicable for the average home sound system/cinema, but you cant say removing all below 20 hz, because you cant hear it anyway makes no difference in the percieved result of the sound. Except in most cases, that is. (Low frequencies simply not present on standard cds, removed by electronics, etc)

    • @jamesnelson8697
      @jamesnelson8697 10 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Benjamin Maier To make my comment clear: It's a response to all the people in this thread talking about "hearing" it all the down to 10Hz or even all the way down to 5Hz. My point isn't that frequencies below 20Hz are "unimportant".

      It doesn't really sound like much, pretty much air going p-p-p-p-p-p-p-p-p-p it's very very low freq to our ears and you need very good subs to hear any of them below 15hz. Sennheisers went all the way down :) Once again German engineering stomps.

    That's such a huge lie!! Human ear can only go as low as 20HZ!! And that's a 6 month baby, when you grow old your ear hears even less than that! So please don't believe your speakers or "subwoofer" is good because you can hear the sounds of this video. Besides a good speaker isn't good because you can hear low frequencies with it, almost a hello kitty speaker can do that.

    JL Audio cp110+JX250/1D played audibly down to 30, after that it's a lot of port noise and visible movement of the driver. I'd say it's okay for a 10" car sub wich wasn't mean't to be used in a house.
    edit: this was with the amplifier gain set to the quietest position, after turning it up a bit I could kind of hear 25hz and feel some air moving at 20hz, if I put my hand right in front of the damn thing i felt down to 10hz.

    Guys, there's no way small and/or cheap speakers make it down to 5 Hz, it's physically impossible to create a pressure wave of that wavelength without a large surface area.
    What you're hearing is either a harmonic of the frequency, a resonance in the speaker itself, or a combination therof.
    A decent speaker setup should just go silent after 20 Hz or so, but still be capable of shaking things in the area, at higher volumes.

      I just did this, and I was watching my sub move at the 5Hz frequency. I could have reproduced the speaker movement with my hands it was so slow. Took almost a full second for it to do a couple cycles.

    • @Stellarffxi
      @Stellarffxi 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Mika Foxx you don't need a large speaker to create low frequency wavelengths.. they're more efficient at it given a specific amount of power of course but a 6.5" or 8" sub can hit as deep as a 12 or 15, it just won't produce as much volume. . that's a common misconception with speaker sizes..

      In fact, we're often told that humans are not able to hear anything below 20Hz, but referring to our little experiment, you can see that this is misleading. Below 20Hz, we can indeed hear everything that's going on - just not as pitch. Think about it: we hear clocks ticking perfectly well, though they tick at 1Hz: we're just not able to derive pitch information from the ticking. Again, compare hearing with vision: obviously, we can see pictures below 10 frames per second, we just see them as… pictures, not as a continual stream of information in the manner of a film.

    The sub just made a little fart at 50 Hz but it was playing even the lowest frequenciez...
    I shouldn't be amazed beacause these 2.1 speakers have 8inch bass woofer(its sound is veeeery low) and 2 sateites with middle and a tweeter.
    the middle membrane has a auminium CONE in the middle, so you got grat CLARITY of the sound.

    No, but if the sub woofer volume is amplified enough, you have an impression of "hearing" it more so by feeling it.
    And most people actually can't hear below 40 Hz.

    The file quality isn't representing a pure sine wave, likely from the transcoding that happens when it hits youtube. So the shit you hear throughout the entire thing (including up to 5hz) is probably the aliased wave. Sounds more like a ring-modulated triangle wave or some shit. Thanks for uploading this.

    These speakers cost about 1/4 to 1/8 of similiar 2.1 speakers from Creative... Think of them.
    I've had more than many, and I use them till today, amased by clarity and the BASS! :) To tel more, I don't use SoundBlaster, which I regard just a market stock sound card.
    Don't tell me about Audigy, because it's not the case. I Use a forsaken sound card.

    At 40hz my bookshelf speakers aren't playing anything at all basically. They are rated to 60hz, so that's fair. Looking forward to getting my sub.

    the reason you hear it is that, youtube audio isn't somewhat da best.
    Besides, people might mistake vibrations with sound, therefore state they can actualy hear sound.
    Myself (with home made sub) 10" i could hear everything till the very end, for reasons i stated above.
    Tho my sub is 300 Watts, but connected to 20Watt amp, since i have no better amp at my hausehold.
    Yes, it sounds like shit on that amp, but bass tests soundfine, since it's always singe frequency per given time.

    1. doubt it not even commercial equipment manages that most of the time
    2. what you "hear" isn't the actual sound being produced once you get below 25hz
    2a. what you "hear" is the sub drivers vibrating / moving air TRYING to reproduce the sound
    2b. IF you have equipment that CAN reproduce those frequencies then it still doesn't matter because you ARE STILL NOT HEARING THEM. You may however FEEL the air or a pressure. If the speaker is loud enough, you can feel it in your chest / ear.

    I have a "decease" (not sure if im spelling it right, im a swede). And the doctors have told me that I have huge problems with my ears. I can hear up to 15kHz and down to 14Hz flat.
    The built special earphones for me and I cant say I heard alot of the below 20hz but I still heard it. And NO, it was NOT the "floff-floff-floff" sound from the earphones, it was an actual tone.

    in technical terms, 20hz-20khz is said to be ideal hearing, but we are hearing and feeling (vibrations) which in terms can go down to 4hz for both feeling and hearing, for just hearing only they based tests from 20hz-20khz not thinking of going any lower then 20hz

    People hearing range is 20 kHz to 16 Hz so if you hear something under 16 Hz it is only noise made by speaker because is in work.
