I'm in Belgium and we also have a mix of brick and concrete walls. They can be a bit of a pain to drill, especially when the plaster is old and can flake around the hole! I've never seen those fiber plugs, they look interesting!

I watched my uncles and older folks use that when I was a kid. I have always liked them, not so keen on the plastic ones tho they may be more effective from all the R&D done on them.
