Excellent work and craftmanship, you could sell these as a side gig. Good to see a young man working with his hands instead of staring at a phone all day like a mindless zombie.
😮 with gunpowder or even a compound bow you have much more time to focus and hold to really get relaxed into each shot. You were definitely right that the timing of your shot makes a big difference on where the shot lands on the paper. I tried to get my shots off in 6 seconds every time in order to make sure that latex is the same temperature at the time you pull the trigger. I also have a telescoping slingshot rifle so I can get everything set up just right and then extend the forks out and take my shot easily within 6 seconds for you it may want to go to 10 seconds and every shot count out 10 seconds for best consistency. Last when you are placing your pouch in the trigger you want to make sure it lands in the exact same place every time. You already know that the ends of the pouch should be exactly even, and also how far down your ammunition slides into the trigger will make a difference as well. Try and make sure it's seated in the same place every time. I love your videos and you're doing a great job with the slingshot rifle. I have found it surprising how hard it is with a rifle then it is just shooting a straight slingshot at the same distance.
It's really nice but I would switch out that band. That does not look very powerful at all. I have one half the size that will fly through a wood door. Car window. A chest.. 😮 That length you should be able to shoot 100 yards
a few day ago i was rethinking this type of rifle, listen, the front forks should be aligned vertically, if so, you will only have to modify the elevation on the scope, if the horizontal line (trigger) is perfectly aligned with the target😊
very good with the woodwork, but it needs a lot more rubber. A wider fork will make it more accurate, also, de tension your rubber a little bit, but use 4 pieces for power. you want the ball to clear the pouch way before the rubbers become slack and knock it of balance. Maximum power is the key. I used to use four tubes about 6 inches long, taken from a Hawaiian fishing spear. I had string on both ends of them, and a steel fork, five inch wide. I had brass washers to keep the string from pulling through the leather. I never had a scope or even a sight, but we can hit a 5c (Aussie) size target at 15 meters. Mine was 1200mm draw-length. And it was only very strong people could cock it. My Uncle went through 1000 steel 3/8 nuts when he borrowed it. This was in the 90's when we had to make the entire mechanisms from scratch. put some curve into the shoulder block, to keep it in place. Mine was capped with brass. It doesn't look as lovely, but if you use a taller fork, you can lift the tip for longer shots without it blocking your view of the target. Mine was 4 inches high, and you could lift it the whole four inches to take a shot out to 30 meters with 8mm lead. 50 meters with 3/8 steel nuts. It's also a lot more lethal with the sniper-sling darts, which you can also glue bodkins onto. You can also get fishing darts and a reel.
There is a super hard wood that grows in the U.S. called Osage Orange. Here in the south it is called Bodark and the tree is medium fat with huge green fruit balls growing on them called hedge apples, not palatable . The wood is among the hardest and strongest in the U.S. and is sometimes a canary yellow but in sun will brown to a teak color. For sling shot projects I recommend it, ask around and you might get some for free. I hope you add 3 or 4 more bands for strength.
I’ve been shooting a catapult for awhile now And to be honest, my best shots are instinct shots so I’m not really sure how I do it But when it comes to shooting a round ball for my rubber band, there’s always going to be a shit ton of variables before that Ball hits the target
9:47- The little lizard would be tough to hit being so small.....but aiming at his giant balls would be easy! LOL!!!!! Very nicely made sling rifle! Would love an update on the arrow shooting version. It definitely needed a relining up of the release, the band mount, and the whisker biscuit. Would shoot much nicer then.
Hi. What size of band you use on this long rifle? Whats the rubber thickness for hunting 30-40 yards? What size of a steel ball you recommend when theres no lead available? You seem to have problems with the wooden head, why not file up a stainless steel or alumium one with quick attachments clamping with screws?
Nice vid! Cool to see it all done! I had similar accuracy problems when I made mine with the red dot, for some reason I could never seem to be able to get a consistent grouping around the size of the bottom of a coke can from 30m... Still haven't found out why so interested to see if you can sort this one out! 😂
Try making a gun or modify the present one in which the front part you can ADJUST the length to you liking ( I am sure you know what I mean ) with the MAX possible length to be very long too ( even more power ! ). This way you won't have to keep on making longer gun every now and then. Just a suggestion ! It is of course possible to do this with sling gun BUT not possible with real gun ! So why not make full use of this ?

Well at least for me, mine is more accurate at close range. For a 20-30 yard shoot out between my slingshot rifle and my pellet gun, I’d pick the slingshot rifle. Longer range however, the slingshot rifle drops off a lot quicker than the pellet gun. There’s pellet guns that are way more accurate than the slingshot rifle but they’re pretty expensive, I just enjoy shooting the slingshot rifle more, it’s cooler I guess 🤷♂️
