3 reasons I like this guys videos 1. I love that color of the Les Paul with the covers off the pick-ups. 2. Being in black helps to recognize his videos easier and helps concentrate while working no background distractions. 3. His videos are always good and correct.
I am 70 now but when I was 18 and my then girl friend Theresa was 17 we were in France smoking discue bleu listening to samba pa ti in a French cafe thinking we were really cool those memories are priceless
What u say about Carlos is so true, he gets a tone and melodic sense that turns the guitar into something else, vocal articulate. Yeah, it's so soulful and bluesy, yet colorful, and sometimes just flaming and rockin, really unique guy, I went to there twentieth reunion concert some years ago, front seat, worth every penny, front seats aren't cheap these days, cost as much as a used car almost
Are talking about the dsm silver lingning pedal? Sorry I’m french speacking and I’m not sure you’talking about this pedal. Is it usefull for Santana ´style? I don’t know this pedal and I was thinking to buy it. I had a Tube Sreamer and a fuzz. I m satisted with them, but I m curious about ather sound. Sorry for my english
@@marie-christinekoehlschind3560 hi! No, it’s “silver lining” is a phrase people use to evoke optimism in a situation that is more commonly seen as not good. I’m curious about this silver lining pedal though! Also, If you’re trying to replicate tone or style if Santana’s playing I would recommend trying to get the most “sustain” you can out of your set up. Make sure overdrive isn’t muddy but rather warm and clear. As for style, listen to his phrasing. He plays very technically but also very soulfully. Santana’s guitar playing also glides atop his Latin Afro fusion rhythm section. So much of that guitar magic is actually his leaning on a brilliant arrangement.
I never post on YT but i must say you have the most amazing relaxed style. You obviously have a lot of respect for your instrument. That seems to come over anyway. Great. Absolutely fantastic feel and style. Thanks and keep it up.
I think because you wear black it helps to see what you are doing you are easily the best out there I love the preamble you have help me to another stage thank you
I'm not sure why people give dislike. However and as a personal opinion this channel is one of the best if you are serious to learn not just wishing you will one day wake up and find yourself playing that easy. I hope to see a tutorial for Santana sensitive kind. Plz plz.
Thanks! Even for a beginner like me, this was a great, and useful video! I had to manually tab this out to make full use of it, but it's watching you play and the little tips you give that make the big difference
Cool.. Just found this and only 2-3 minutes in I'm lovin' it. Love your style/presentation. Thanks! *Edit: Make this old man wanna pick up his guitar again....
This is THE BEST LESSON AND VERSION IVE SEEN!!! THANK YOU, & Yes Santana 3 is the Best Album with Neal Schon, Your Skill is SUPERB!!! ABD GREAT GUITAR TONE!!! A # 1
I have all the lead parts off except the fast licks which you play too fast for me , the one on the 12-15 frets i got you said you really liked this one , i had played this about 40 years ago i had the right key i am glad to know with a few alterations in the lead pieces ,but hey you sure play beautiful , you are a natural ,i have to practise .cheers pat dolan from Ireland.
Great lesson, beautifully played, thank you. That LP is a gorgeous colour too! I have an Epi LP ES Pro in Wine Red, similar appearance (but with f holes) and a lot lighter.
Excellent lesson! Thank you for taking the time and effort in doing this for us! Much appreciation! P.S. I enjoyed hearing the comments you made before beginning the lesson. I like hearing and learning tidbits of information.
I love watching your videos and lesson but i feel like they are aimed more towards the advanced players with your style of teaching. I've been playing for only a year and can hardly keep up with most of your lessons. However, i still appreciate and absolutely love your playing technique and tone. Thanks for all your work!
I've been using a few lessons but i hate it when they teach you songs in bits but they don't show you how they run or fit together, thanks for these video's
Ok being a complete novice to this, i have two guitars i can use, a Tele or a Epiphone invader LP, i also run through a POD XT (settings tip would be nice) then through my Blackstar ID Cor 10 amp on clean, i would like that sound so any help would be gteatful
Great video. Love the song. My question is: on your tab, what bar ranges, do your Parts 1 and 2 cover? I appreciate your covering how you set up your guitar, including the wah pedal to get the great sound. Thx
Happy New Year Teach !!!! Do you have any new stuff.you're planning on sharing ? I am hoping so,,,,your lessons are the Best in TH-cam in my opinion i although I like many others as well,,,,,fingers crossed,,,,😎👍🙏💕
Hello vert good lesson... many thks...! About the gear and the sound i don t understand the name of the pedal you use? D tune D tone?... i ll try the wahwah closed.
Such a great tutorial! But my small hands and short fingers won't let me do the unison bends on the A and B notes. Trying to do it with my little finger and others backing it up, but not strong enough. It's going to take a lot of practice.
Great tutorial of my favorite solo. I was saddened not to find the tabs for sale on your site. This would be insanely awesome if the tabs and backing track were available. Maybe I can find the backing track elsewhere but I think you've got this string/fret/bend thing pinpoint accurate so I wouldn't want any other tabs (maybe I can transcribe... maybe). Even as is, great work and terrific teaching style. Thanks for giving back to us who dream...
once again, very, very cool choice of tunes! thanx Andy!! hey Andy, when you covered the lesson on Boston's "Peace of Mind" you mentioned that you might teach the rythem for it also...??? i am having trouble hearing it properly and am wishing you would do it up right?! cheers
Hey man, i learned a hell of a lot from your vids, thank you very much for your time and effort. When you get around to it could you do a solo tutorial for - When you love a woman by journey?
Absolutly fuckin awesome tutorials Andy..So many I will never get to all but this is great..I play at night in the old semi when I shut down for night.. Got a Ibanez SA and a Rolland Micro Cube in truck with me..Gotta luv wifi few hrs..no data use..I just sent ya 25 bucks hope ya get it. Been great with you and Carl 365..Nice thing variety not just same genre all time..I know your in Canada..What Province? See ya..Gotta go truckin toward home..Sweet Home Chicago🚚☕🎸🎷🎺🎶🎹
I really appreciate this tutorial. I also have to say...if you can play Samba pa ti for a girl and her panties don't get drenched, then she just plain doesn't like you in any way shape or form. Move on brother! Now...I would like to request another tutorial. If you can find a little more love in your heart for another latin American rocker, please produce a tutorial for Halgo ha Cambiado by Norberto Napolitano...aka PAPPO!!! You love him, I love him...all of Argentina loved him back in the 70s!! Please and thank you in advance. ❤
+isidro I I think the Boss ps-3 has a good detune setting, you should check that one out. Also, chorus pedals have a very similar sound to a detune pedal, the only difference is that chorus pedals constantly change the modulation of the pitch, while a detune pedal will keep the signal at a set amount of detuning constantly Boss also makes a good chorus pedal.

New to channel what is your exact set up guitar and Amp cheers
Always wanted to learn this. Thank you.
Sure would be great if you made tabs available. No problem paying for them just make 'em available!

Thanks for the lesson which I enjoyed, but it’s a pity that the fretting isn’t mentioned.
You provide info on attaining the "Santana sound", but would you please explain "detune" where and how it's achieved? Thank-you
Yes please, me too, not sure what that meant. Is that 1/2 step down tuning? BRILLIANT Lesson. Thanks.
+abejacgot it's a pedal effect that modulates the pitch of whatever you're playing, in this case very slightly.
chippchipp1 hey bro can you give an example of the pedal that have d tune? I'm a newbie on electric guitar and effects. Thank you
+isidro I I think the Boss ps-3 has a good detune setting, you should check that one out. Also, chorus pedals have a very similar sound to a detune pedal, the only difference is that chorus pedals constantly change the modulation of the pitch, while a detune pedal will keep the signal at a set amount of detuning constantly Boss also makes a good chorus pedal.
Great lesson, are tabs available?
Nope. He doesn't like tabs. He wants you to learn by ear.
Is this standard tuned??
what effects did you use ????
what was that song at 0:19?
4 a site titled shut up & play u do alot of talking! But your lessons & playing r excellent!!!
Yeah im not ready for this shit but thanks for your time!
Can you do Santana -I love you too much
Digitech Luxe Detune pedal?
Carlos plays the guitar like someone making music not like a guitar player
What model of guitar do you play with? I have one that looks just like it.
I like how some instructors cut straight to the meat and not too much yap about none sense
What did you say?
Olympian level of attention to detail.
grazie,1000.ottimo.
Thanks for posting this. The unison bent note is difficult.
Hello,. I can't find part 2????
www.shutupandplay.ca/samba-pa-ti--solos.html
