Really enjoying watching these early episodes for the first time, i was too young to see them when they first aired in the mid 60's, but i loved Whatever happened to the Likely lads in the 70's. Brilliant acting from Rodney and James, and the scripts are spot on. Clement and La Frenais are 2 of the best comedy writers of all time.
Whatever Happened To The Likely Lads is so self-contained that .despite the fact that Bob and Terry constantly refer to their youth, it's easy to forget that there are ' episodes ' of their earlier life . Terry wouldn't get his licence until Christmas 1974 ( despite having being in the Army for 4 years by then )
Mrs Richards: "I paid for a room with a view !" Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam ." Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!" Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window ? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..." Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!" Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky." Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction." Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment ?"
If only life was still like this
Life doesn't stay still ,things constantly change and evolve.

Such a marvelous watch there are not enough interesting series about
loved this series
Bob always seemed to be the one who ended up injured or in hospital ...usually Terry having at least a small hand in it...
Bob taking terry to X-ray? In those days the union would have 'em all out on strike 5 minutes later........

First time watching "the likely lads".
Compared to whttll it’s a bit shouty and more obviously “ studio” But that aside, it’s better than I’d remembered
Nice triumph
