I’ve had a quite a few people ask in the comments about which particular beat the vlog was recorded at. I wont say publicly as it’s against their T’s and C’s but if you shoot me a message on my socials or by email (address in info), I’m happy to disclose the location privately. 🎣👍
Robert you are not probably going to like this, but given that nearly everything is stacked against the salmon these days I think no one should ever consider beaching a fish, always always net it, having it thumping it around on the rocks or shingle is not good, it may shoot off but the cuts bruises and abrasions can cause a lot of trouble for the fish later on, use a nice big net, every time. All the best.
Day 2. The top pool. I netted for my dad one Saturday morning... the 100th fish of the season, the biggest fish of the week. Happy days. (the needle stone in the background - in low water the fable was for bachelors to go through facing upstream if they wanted to have children. Downstream if they just wanted a ramble....). You wisely walked past The Haugh - a white knuckle wade. I played a fish for an hour one night, never saw it.
Cracking fish, no wonder you are chuffed. Could be seal or dolphin damage, if you have ever been to the mouth of the Dee you will see plenty of them waiting to ambush the salmon. Thanks for sharing
