I was in the Mediterranean at the time cross decking A-4 aircraft to Israel. The Soviet fleet came out in numbers to meet the increased 6th Fleet presence there. The Soviets brought out even their less seaworthy ships to show numbers. Some of these ships were still in the Med at anchorages in 1975, when I left my ship, waiting to be towed home.

Egypt had already secured (part of the) Sinai and lost ground due to attempting to push further into Israel.
This was not Egypt’s plan but did so begrudgingly at the request of the Syrians to relieve them of Israeli pressure. Due to this reason, the Egyptian forces pushed ahead without the support of their air defences. This was almost catastrophic for the Egyptians.
It’s a shame this information was not included as it seems (from this videos perspective) that it was only the US support that allowed the successful Israeli counter attack. It wasn’t.
What was also left out was, how the armed forces and supplies from other Arab countries had just began pouring in by then. The war was about to get a lot more messy.

      I agree with this.
She did it deliberately to force nixons hand into the war.
The US satellite picked up unusual activity around the " weapons" and Nixon had no choice.Actually Nixon was in a mess too I think because of the watergate.it was Kissinger that made the move to support and his excuse to Egypt was of course that golda would have used Samson ( I didnt know this code).

Finally watched part 2. Again, this war makes the US' involvement much more understandable, rather than "We needed oil." it was "We couldn't stand to see nukes used anywhere or to see the Soviets gain more power, cutting us off to far more trade than just oil."

Aleksander Domański The IDF used the British made Centurion Mark V as their workhorse during Syrian attack on the Golan Heights. The Israeli Centurions used dug in positions high up the Mountain of Golan. They had upgraded the Centurion from 76mm to 105mm cannons, reinforced the armour and mounted IR-sights on them. The main vulnerability was the Gasoline tank, which torched a lot of them on the main attack of some 1500 soviet build T-54 and T-62 main battle tanks. The IDF had a mix of M48 and M51 Shermans and some 400 Centurions. The Centurions however outstanding on the Battle Field, their crew fought bravely to death against waves of attacks. Only their experience, determination and courage saved the Israelis from defeat.

Israel also won politically too. They still gained land from both Syria and Egypt. They did give this land and the Sinai back to Egypt in 1978, but that was only after the Egyptian President recognized Israel. That's a political victory too.

Great video, as always. I guess the geography wasn't meant to be precise, because the Egyptians did not move far beyond their initial advance in to the Sinai, to stay within the range of their SAM anti aircraft umbrella. While Israel did manage to cross the Suez, it was unable to retake the entire Eastern bank of the canal. As a matter of fact, the Egyptian third army was surrounded on the Eastern bank by the Israelis, led by Ariel Sharon, from their previous positions on the Western bank.
The labor party's demise after the war didn't end with Golda's resignation: Just 4 years later, it led to Israel's first right wing government in history by Menachem Begin.

This is complete bullshit Israel lost the war, lost the land and returned it through force and diplomacy, and couldn't push back so they opted to give back the land through fear of being destroyed and demolished. it was a 100% Arab victory and is Israeli humiliation. After claiming that they were undefeatable and then this happens, you can't say they won in any way, its called they barely survived. in other words, they lost militarily, morally, land wise, and anything else you can think of. It is funny how many people think that Israel won the war but withdraw from the Sinai because they were "nice" lol!! Some people needs to understand that Sadat's main goal was to control the east bank of the canal and 20km deep into the Sinai, and the Egyptian army was able to do. Also, Israel's main goal after October 6th, was to push back the Egyptian army to west bank of the canal, and they failed. Israel did manage to cross the canal and encircle Egypt's third army, but Israel was never going to attack Cairo, it was impossible to Conquer a city like Cairo!! Israel wasn’t even able to control the cities of Suez and Ismailia after losing the two battles on October 24th and 25th, and that was one of the main reasons why Israel accepted a ceasefire!! another thing is that Israel had to leave the Sinai not because “they were nice”, but because the heavy losses it faced during the war. Thats why the US resupplied Israel with the arms they needed the most in operation nickel grass

The strong implication is the resupply effort Nixon and Kissinger foolishly delayed was responsible for Israel's eventual victory. Very, very wrong. You can supply an incompetent military until it comes of their ears (think South Vietnam) and they will still lose.
They won, in essence, because they demonstrated yet again that they were much better soldiers. They did not give up, they rapidly mobilized, they learned quickly how to deal with new threats, and they held on to their training and aggressiveness.

The fact that Sinai is with Egypt means Egypt won the war. Egypt and Israel signed the peace treaty but it was for the benefit of Israel. Even after the gap occurred, Egypt 🇪🇬had two armies in Sinai, and you filmed that the gap returned all the Egyptian army🇪🇬, and this is not true. Even after the gap, Israel🇮🇱 was not able to occupy the cities of Suez and Ismailia. The war ended with Israel's🇮🇱 withdrawal from the west of the canal, while Egypt🇪🇬 gained more territory in Sinai, and thus Egypt 🇪🇬won this war by a sweep after The great crossing of the Suez Canal and the restoration of more than 12 km from Sinai and the destruction of the Bar-Lev line

Clear facts and results on the ground:
1-Egypt won the war by achieving the overall objectives by forcing Israel to negotiating, and eventually won Sinai back
And never say that Israel gave back Sinai willingly, if so, then y try to take it in 1956 and 1967? And y Israel denied Sadat urge when he first took power, to withdraw behind the passages ? It has always been part of "great Israel from Nile to Euphrates"
2- Egyptian victory was obviously not a clear cut victory, hence acknowledging Israel as a nation, the idea of negotiating, and peace, and by the way Sadat paid the price for that peace.
3-USA put Soviets in their back pocket since day one, hence years after this war, Egypt leaves the Soviet camp and enters western camp
4- u want Sinai again, come and take it 😏

Listen, I already gave u evidence from Israeli and neutral sources, but please think about this:
1- why Israel did not give away Jerusalem "willingly" in the first place? Just the old city. For peace sake
Why not give the Golan heights "willingly"after the war?
Israel only speak the language of blood and annexations,
if it wasn't for their asses kicked in youm Kippur, they would have never given Sinai
They had even build settlements and were digging for oil before youm Kippur, they were staying.
2- you have to completely separate the Syrian front from the Egyptian front, we tried to cover up for the Syrian incompetence and weakness, but it coasted us turning a complete crushing victory into a draw
But to go to the extent that Israel won on the Egyptian front is just naive and childish
Israeli forces surrounding the Egyptian third army were surrounded themselves, and the army was functional and even took more areas on the east side. USA stopped Egypt from destroying these Israeli forces, and stopped Israel from starving the third army, as simple as that.
The very first thing that Israel did after initial peace talks was to withdraw these forces" in Africa" and revise Moshe Dyan quote in my comment for the details
3- it also took 10 years for the greatest Arab country to recognise Israel and make peace, something that Israel could have achieved without the war in the first place if it wasn't for Israel arrogance and stupidity, Sadat tried many diplomatic maneuvers in 1971 and Israel declined them all, just check utube videos of Moshe Dyan and Golda Maier before and after the war and u will know exactly what effect it gave to the Israeli society
4-Egyptian armies were NOT pushed back at all, the third army only was surrounded, check this fact please
Egyptian forces held their ground till end of combat
5- the whole military operations were not to rush into Sinai in the first place, was to capture " the most fortified position on earth" and then force Israel into an attrition war to force them into negotiation

OK... boy. Let's trace operation nickle grass's effectivity.
The first consignments arrived on the 14th of October.
      In the mean time,
      1. Israeli army was already deep in Syria and had already positioned themselves 40 km. from Damascus by the 10th of October. The Syrian army was already getting "fucked".
      2. On the 14th.... the 143th armored division had already crossed the Suez canal and strengthened by an infantry brigade that had already crossed the canal two days earlier and had established a bridge-head. On the 17th... the 162nd. armored division crossed the canal. Egypt's SAM missile batteries were destroyed and the Israeli air force began spreading havoc. Ismailia had already fallen and the Egyptian 3rd army was already on it's way to starvation.
SO.... even if the supplies from the US arrived on the 14th, by time those resupplies reached the field..... both the Syrian and the Egyptian armies had already been FUCKED.
True Golda asked for resupplies (you like the word begged - so be it). True, the war was a great stress on Israel's command....
But... you go and learn true history BOY. Israel did need to replenish their stores of armament but Israel had already fucked your ass by time those resupplies had arrived.
You are experienced in kicking our ass?? when?? in 1948??? when you ran back to the desert till the UN saved your anuses with a seize-fire??? in 1967 when your soldiers ran back to the canal without their boots on?? in 1973 when Israel's army had three divisions on Egypt's territory and had already starved your 3rd. army into submission and had reached a 100 km from Cairo?
SO.... no. There is no historic record of when you EVER defeated Israel. Sadat's peace initiative saved your asses. Otherwise, Israel would have been compelled to keep on humiliating you.

I heard Israel never wanted the land. They just wanted to be allowed to exist so when they finally made peace they were happy to return the land. I wish all sides would just agree to move forward in peace. Compromise isn't always fun but it's better than the alternative

@@cgaccount3669 That is NOT true . Land is something vital for Israeli's leaders as they believe what is between The River Nile and Euphrates is their land. Land is everything for them and for us.

@@mohamedalbarawy136 Israel gave the land back several years back in 1978...Israel got what it wanted which was to be recoginize as a nation. Look how much that has help them with the negotiations against Hamas having Egypt on their side. God knew what He was doing.

@@mohamedalbarawy136 not this land. Israel in negotiations already secured military control over the region and free economic trade as well as passage through the Suez Canal. This war torn land had nothing left to offer them besides potential insurgences and more wars with Egypt
