    the hardest part of any My Bloody Valentine song is to figure out the tuning, after that….any beginner can play these songs

      Thanks for watching! Yeah, actually playing the songs is not too difficult. I'm still somewhat new to guitar, so MBV has been great to play for me.

    I just got this same guitar and amp, do you have any suggestions for amp presets, settings, pick-ups etc to get good shoegazey/indie sounds? You've got a nice sound here.

    • @charietuna2132
      @charietuna2132  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thanks so much for watching! I'm excited for you -- it's such a great combination. For most of my MBV stuff, I'm using the middle pickup on the JMM and the "80s Rock" amp (the Marshall JCM800 sim) on the LT25 with 8 for mid and bass, 4.5 on treble, max volume, and 2.5 gain. I usually supplement this with external pedals, either the BD-2 or SF300.
      This sometimes cover actually uses a different setup than my usual. The "Big Fuzz" (the Big Muff sim) stomp effect makes up most of the sound, but I find that this effect doesn't play well with the Marshall sim. So I actually use the "Super Clean" amp to really let the fuzz do the work.
      Hope that's helpful!

    This is amazing. Could you share the strumming pattern? From my eyes, there is only downward strumming?

    • @charietuna2132
      @charietuna2132  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thanks so much! It is mostly down strumming with the occasional triplet, like at the beginning and when changing between the later chords -- should be easy to see where in the video when you're looking for it. Every chord pretty much has the same strumming pattern. With the down strums, I'm actually alternating between just playing the bass note, usually the low e string, and the full chord. Of course, the strumming is pretty fast, so it's not all that easy to hear, but it does help accent particular notes.
      Here's a likely not very useful, very unscientific way to express the pattern of bass note vs full chord: DUN dun dun DUN dun dun DUN dun DUN dun DUN dun DUN DUN DUN.

    Need to wrap the trem arm under your pinky and index so you can push pull with out cutting your fingers. Once you master the trem you’ll be good to go. Also, roll back the tone to take off some high frequencies, makes the guitar sound more like a dark wave. Better for MBV tone with newer gear

    • @2laced
      @2laced ปีที่แล้ว +2

      fuzz/distortion effects, mbv used the boss metal zone pretty frequently, also reverb is important, mbv used reverse reverb a lot.. but the big thing that makes the band sound unique is the strange tunings, loud volume and using multiple effects at once to create a wall of sound type thing, theres a lot of good videos on it out there

    • @charietuna2132
      @charietuna2132  ปีที่แล้ว

      To add on, the main thing powering the tone in this video is that I used the Big Muff sim on my LT25.
